    Taro leaves & stems are the main ingredients to a Filipino cuisine called "Laing". The tubers are best for "Sinigang" & "Ginataang Bilo-bilo" 😊

    here in the philippines.. there are lots of varieties of taro's.. in the mountain provinces of the land.. they feed it on their livestocks

    South east asians eat almost all parts of taro from stem to leaves, in the Philippines we sun dried it for 3 days then cook with pork chilli's ginger garlic onions and coconut milk it's called "Laing"

    In Java we have some variants of taro; Talas, Bentul, Mbothe, Keladi, lompong.. they are similar but different..

      Tapi kalo talas sama lompong perasaan sama cuma cara nyebutin namanya tiap daerah beda, kalo di daerah ku sih lompong, tp umbi dibawahnya itu di sebut talas. Ada juga yg nyebut kalo lompong lebih muda yang talas kalo udah tua

    Boiled then peel and dip in soy sauce. Easy and taste great. You know they are fresh if they have a slimy texture, those are the best tasting. But if they are old they taste like a dry potato.

    wow so big taros. it reminds me our province for long year never home . we bake the taros mixed in cassava and mixed with secret ingrediencies and make a cake out of wrapped in banana trees and steam it for at list an hour. it reminds me a lot. nice idol your content watching your tv. and your one of your subscribers. salute and god bless idol

    In our place in Nagaland, our tribe call taro Ami and it's delicious when cooked with axone (fermented soyabeans) n smoked pork. Just yesterday I had the curry. Our tribe is known for making taro leaf paste which is baked n left to dry out for making delicious anishi curry...also my mom's tribe dry out the pedicel n leaves of taro n it makes for such a good addition in chicken boiled curry 😋

      @@rlf4403tube the taro dried cake is warmed for few minutes in Ash n beaten to flatten it out for quick cooking. Then washed in water & added to the cooking pot. Then add water, chillies, salt, tomato n dried pork chops n set on fire to cook. Later mash all potatoes, chillies, tomatoes n add to the curry. Roast Sichuan pepper 4-5pcs n grind to add to the curry. Can add basil leaves too. Finally add coriander leaves few mins before removing from the fire.

    In India it is extensively used in NE and eastern India, the stems are also used to cook it is very tasty known as Kochu in Bengal there are more varieties but usually find it to the plate in summer and rainy seasons

    I know taro. They live freely in my country, Indonesia. Taro chips are very delicious even without any seasoning. Well, we don't usually eat the leaves, but it can be used for some specieses of pond fish's food.

    What a waste they only harvest the tubers. The leaves and stalks are perfect edible and is probably more prized in SouthEast Asia than the tubers. They make a delicious dish made from the leaves. They shred it then put some cubes of pork or chicken then wrap it in a large Taro leaves. Boiled and simmered in coconut milk, chili, lemongrass, garlic, shallots, ginger, and shrimp paste or fish sauce. It is so delicious and you won't know how delicious until you try it.

    Correction. The "toxin" it contains is found in many foods such as spinach, nuts and raspberries and is called "oxalate, which is neutralized with 10-15 minutes of boiling. Sally Norton wrote a book about oxalates and how they affect people. Lots of foods have oxalates. It's the amount that matters.

    I like the way we have it in my island. We can either bake them in our island style outdoor oven , or boil and add special prepared coconut cream with some onion. Also we have several special ways to prepare taro leaves. Always with coconut cream.Yum Yummier yummiest. 😜😜

      It's different to the Elephant ear plant. Have a closer look, the Elephant ear can't be eaten. Their leaves are quite similar but however they can be differentiated.

      Taro ini bentul kalo di Indonesia. Mbonte beda lagi, mbonte berserabut saat di panen, ada bintik2nya juga pada kulit, rasa juga agak gatal tekstur lebih padat/seret. Sedang taro/bentul lebih halus kulitnya, tanpa bintik2, tekstur daging lebih lunak

    You can actually eat the leaves.
    1. Shred it.
    2. Sun dry to remove the itching effect when eateng.
    3. Cook with dried fish and coconut milk. Just stir, don't put too much coconut milk, it's not supposed to be broth-y. Salt and pepper. Ya all know how to cook food no.
