Roger Miller would have been grinning from ear to ear listening to you two doing a cover of this song ... I know I was. Roger Miller recorded sooo many great songs, including one called the " Tom Green county fair" ... which just happens to be ... the county I currently live in and was also born in 63 years ago! If ya'll get a hankering to do another one of his tunes, listen to that one and give it a try! Also, try "You can't roller skate in a Buffalo herd" ...lol... that one is a lot of fun to perform, I did a lot of his songs years ago when me and a friend and mine would go to some of the Old folks homes (Nursing homes) and perform for the residents! Ya'll keep doin that thing y'all do on Sunday mornings, I don't always get the chance to watch ya'll every Sunday, but I try to! Take care ya'll and stay safe!👍👍😎 ... Ooh, I forgot to say where Tom Green County is ... it's in Texas ... of course! Ya'll should visit here someday after this pandemic is over with! Bye Ya'll! 👍👍😎 ( UPDATE 2021: ...
Yeppers, that's me in the picture with the Cowboy hat! I decided I had used that meme of " Music is my Escape from all Bullshit in the world!" ... long enough .... Y'all have a awesome weekend ... ya hear! 👍👍🤠 )

When I was 9 in 1966, my family took a trip from our home in Ann Arbor, Michigan out west for a pop-up camping trip to the Grand Tetons, Monument Valley, and the Grand Canyon, among other places. While on the road in our Ford Fairlane station wagon this hit was playing constantly and the whole family was really loving it. Miller was hot at that time, so we also heard "Dang Me" a bit too, which came out the prior year. Ever since then, I was a big Roger Miller fan, even though I've never been a huge country music aficionado. Listening to him again really brings back some cherished memories.

Always loved Roger Miller. He was taught how to play the guitar as a kid in Oklahoma by his neighbor and slightly older family friend Sheb Woolley who later became an actor and singer. He had a hit in the late ‘50’s with “purple people eater”. He also recorder with an alter ego Name, Ben Colter. Much like Garth Brooks recorded an album using the name Chris Gaines.

Summertime" went to #14. In 1961 "When Two Worlds Collide" went to #6( Jim Reeves covered it). In 1964 " Dang Me"
went to #1 and "Chug a Lug" to #3. "King of The Road" was his first cross over hit and yes it was his biggest selling single.
