There is 69% reservation in TN, Parties like DK are constantly spreading brahmin hatred, there are less than 2% brahmins in TN I think. I know so many brahmins most of them are abroad, hardly any are going for govt jobs etc. Dravidian party has power , so if they are failing to blame it on brahmins is stupidity. Also there is a politics behind this, they blame brahmins bcos brahmins are only 2%, so they know vote wont get affected. So many other caste people there not only brahmins. Also brahmins didnt do honour killing etc etc. I am not saying brahmins are very good people either, but they are minding their own business, but DK people don't have a clue to solve anything and will just use periyar name and be a pazhaya panchagam thats all. not solution oriented thinkers at all. this is only reality.

At first let's see about caste discrimination, yes I too accept still there is some honour killing happening, but that has reduced gradually for past five decades if you take the data 25yrs back there was more in numbers and today it has reduced to 2-3 honour killings in a year, and today we have media's and social medias which transforms the news faster and we come to know about such incidents. 25 yrs back the media exposure was less and most honour killing was not known out.
Until we have caste structure we can't completely eradicate it but it has been reduced to very great extent . And we know today more numbers of younger generations are getting married out of their caste and religion and even there will be one or two people's in our friends or family members circle certainly would have married from different caste mainly bcoz of love marriage. And those numbers are raising in another 40-50 yrs certainly nearly 60% and above will find themselves hardly to marry in same intercaste .
And TN is only state that most politicians will never use caste names after their names, this is one big achievement of periyar.
If you take Kerala ministers & CM's Pattom PILLAI, Achutha MENON, Vasudevan NAIR, Nambodri pad.
And if you take karnataka state minister and CM's Deva GOWDA, Sadananda GOWDA, Jagadish SHETTAR, Ramakrishna HEGDE.
And if you take Andhra pradesh, ministers and CM's Rajasekar REDDY, Mari Chenna REDDY, Chandrasekar RAO, Chandra babu NAIDU, and many North Indian leaders have caste name behind their name but Tamil nadu is the only state where most politicians of any parties doesn't use their caste name after their name. In Kerala or in West Bengal even communist leaders have caste name . And this miracle and credit goes to certainly to Periyar no doubt.
And about Brahmins it is really phatetic also to hear about them, can you show one Brahmins doing agriculture today, they may even have lands but they will never strive hard to do agriculture. But instead they will lease the land and get the lease income. And no doubt not only Brahmins fought for freedom, also Muslims, Christians, Jains, Sikhs, Parsi's and all religious and caste people's of India born fought for freedom.
You said about Rajagopalachari as Brahmin yes he was, but he tryed to bring back the education of varnasharam dharma or principles wich makes a carpenter son to be a carpenter and barbers son will be a barber, Both Periyar and Kamarajar opposed it heavily and they said all men will not get equal education. And the irony is both Kamarajar and Periyar didn't had proper education or a great educated scholar like Rajagopalachari. And this is called a upper caste mentality of Brahmin or parpan mentality. It's not about how many percentage of Brahmins are there, even if one Brahmins was there like Rajagopalachari mentality and without the opposer like Periyar by this time our whole education system would have spoiled and there will be no Abdul Kalam, Sivan (isro Chief), or Mylsammy Annadurai (former isro Chief) or Natarajan Chandrasekar present chairman of TATA sons. First time a Parsi is not selected in Tata son's group, and even our respectable CEO of Google sundar pichai. If education was implemented on varnasharam principles by Rajagopalachari we would have not seen the above people's and only Brahmins & upper caste people's would have received better education.
I am not justifying periyar, yes he too had some drawback, but at the same time his contribution to society also cannot be forgotten.
And justice party was the first political party in whole India which announced reservations for backward community people's and it was the first Government order passed when they formed govt. Later justice party became DK.
A lower caste person can become as CM or PM or even president of India but not as a aiyer or pusari in Srirengam temple .
