Dude this song was the “despacito” of mid 90’s .. everyone on the planet knew it. Won grammy for it.
Despacito is trash LMAO
In the 90s, this man had not yet been born... For what
The only difference is that song is iconic
I remember when this song came out and I remember watching the movie
Despacito 🤣🤣🤣
I love when a rapper can make a song without curse words and he also didn't even use the N word...this is one of my all time favorite songs.
a lot of old school rap was like that. i love it so much more than the new stuff
Steve wonder cover..
yeah if you want a REAL example of that listen to some Eric B and Rakim, Coolio was made to clean his lyrics.
He kinda does, actually, but they weren’t allowed to without editing it back then. He says all my ni’s in the night sayin prayers in the streetlight. Sorry to burst your bubble 😂
@Cassie D. no, he doesn’t
What do you mean you don't know who Coolio is?!?
I'm a farmer from a very small town in Brazil and even I know who Coolio is!!
I literally thought every american knew about Coolio.
By the way, your brazilian fans over here are eager for your reaction to *Shaman - Fairy Tale (live version)* It's amazing, you'll love it for sure.
I'm from the Netherlands and they played this on the radio all the time here. I notice many reactors are just too young to have heard all the old skool stuff. There is so much good music out there from the 70s 80s and 90s it is a lot to go through. The most shocked i ever was though was when somebody didn't know who Jimi Hendrix was..i was like come on now....
@@eshnic I grew up in the 90s and I didn't know who Jimi Hendrix was until I was 23ish. I think it was because 1) my parents didn't like that kind of music, they were more into Tom Jones, ABBA, Neil Diamond, UB40 etc, and 2) people I hung out with at school all liked contemporary pop music.
So I can see how this guy's never heard of coolio before.
Bloody hell,I am an African in a remote African village and I know Coolio
@@h3ll0gudbye Fair enough.
I'm a 61 yr old white woman and I know who Coolio is!!!
Your trophy is on its way in the mail
The fact that ur a 61 year old white woman that knows who coolio is is spectacular
Lol 😆yess
@@ProgeticGaming Gotta respect that butter woman huh
I’m a 63 y o woman from Scotland, and I love all of this……everything.
Haze, I'm a melanin deficient grandfather knocking near 70 and I sang this song at my daughters wedding. That's how mainstream this was. You need to look at the old school for some history.
I'm a white Jew born in the 80's and i grew up on old school rap like 2pac, Snoop, Coolio, Biggie etc. I can't believe the amount of first time reactions to masterpieces like this by young black dudes, it really makes me sad. I hope that the youth will bring old school rap back.
A white jew?.?. WTF jews hate white people.
Total respect to Coolio
This one is a Hyms of Hip hop old school, everyone know this masterpiece from 90s 💯 and the Movie Dangerous Minds is a great movie
In 1995, Coolio has won a Grammy & Billboard music awards for this song. This song came from his 2nd album(Gangsta's Paradise). He also got famous for his hairstyle. This song is sampled from Stevie Wonder's 1976 song called "Pastime Paradise".
And they sang together!
This was back when rap was good.
This song came out in 1995 and is the soundtrack for the movie dangerous minds. The man singing is L.V.
The beginning letters of the movie title should have been in capital letters. You have just failed your English class!
@@mtsula I know it should have but it was late, I was tired and being lazy. I do appreciate the correction so thank you. I was a Radiology Transcriptionist for almost 30 years and the dictations I transcribed had to be accurate so when I see other people online making these types of mistakes as well as using the wrong spelling of words in a sentence like to, too, your and you're, it drives me crazy, for instance the correct spelling should have been movie not move but I know you are aware of that and it was just an oversight. I'm not being sarcastic and I was sincere when I said thank you for the correction.
@@mtsula movie * you failed also ...
Coolio also did the theme song for 90s kids show keneen & kel
@@mtsula dude it’s CZcams, not a big deal
Dude I still bump this song in my car. I did this morning. Still BUMPS. Such a mood.

@@styllakiseu7547 how old are you?....your music taste is so weird asf
It definately was. Real gangsters talking about real life instead of these skinny jeans wearing wanksters. You also have amazing rock a.k.a. Nirvana
Lol, lists Kanye as a musician
Coolio was big when I was in HS. I saw Dangerous Minds in the theater. Another big one at the time was Fantastic Voyage also 1,2,3,4.
One day someone will do Ghetto Cartoon, lol. Can Of Corn is another good one
Coolio was awesome enough that he got me to listen to rap. I am normally a heavy metal and punk rock fan but Coolio had an impact. His song fantastic voyage is awesome too.
Young MC is is how I got into rap
"Gangsta's Paradise" samples the chorus and instrumentation of Stevie Wonder's 1976 song "Pastime Paradise"
The artists co-wrote the song with its producer Doug Rasheed, with Stevie Wonder receiving writing credits for the sampling of his song "Pastime Paradise" from his album Songs in the Key of Life.
Due to the sampling of Stevie Wonder's music, "Gangsta's Paradise" is one of the few Coolio tracks that does not contain any profanity, as Wonder himself would not allow it. Coolio said, "I had a few vulgarities...and he wasn't with that. So I changed it. Once he heard it, he thought it was incredible."
Released in 1995.
rapping about real life stuff. That was original premise of rap/hip hop. somehow hip-hop has turned into image, cars and money.
LV died many years ago, but only those of us that were loc'ed out and did bang in the late 80's and 90's and survived will understand why Coolio made this song when he did. We were in a time when brothers were dying over territory, apartments, colors, streets and merch. (drugs, girls, cars, clothes, guns...) We could be killed simply going to initiations, meets, or even 501's. And by our own crews, or, "friends of family". In my realm it was Krtel, Aces High, certain (unnamed) factions of crip, blood and folk. You lost friends, brothers and cousins daily in those dayz. Like I said though... many of us survived and went on. Be thankful for what you guys have and didn't have to accept and deal with, every time you walked out the door. Not knowing if you'd even see your own bed again. This was life. @/damulife @/krtl @/cr32
"but only those of us that were loc'ed out and did bang in the late 80's and 90's and survived will understand". Nah, even if you weren't part of that set just living in it was enough to understand. Hell drivebys pretty much kicked off ever news broadcast. People getting lost and ending up shot because they drove down the wrong street. Chalk outlines on the sidewalks or in the streets. Sketchy times.
@LARRY BOOKER I never lived through what it sounds like you did, but I saw it on TV, and read about it in the papers, every day. I always felt bad for the people that had to live in that stuff every day. My words probably sound pathetic, but, for what it’s worth, I’m glad you made it through those times. I hope things are good now.
L.V. is still alive brotha...he's 64
Growin up in the WestCoast and in the midst of most of loved ones getting caught slippin, This song always hits me in the chest. REST IN LOVE HOMIES YOU ARE MISSED...
Tell me why are we so blind to see? that the ones we hurt are you and me. This lyrics literally hit different bruh
man almost all of these fools in here dont have a clue what coolio is talking about it goes over so many peoples head
@@stucclikechucc people need to listen to what they're saying, cause some just listen to music and not the message within it

The film is called 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙨 debuted 1995. 𝙂𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙩𝙖'𝙨 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙚 is the soundtrack to this astounding film. I was only 14 at the time. And my entire block be cruising down the street to either this track... or to 𝘽𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙜𝙨 𝙉 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙮'𝙨 - 1𝙨𝙩. 𝙊𝙛 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝.
I remember that time well. I was only 15 and as soon as I hit 16 and got my license I was out cruising to Bone too lol I was a big fan of the Art of War duel album WWI and WWII.
@@mordavi best double disc album of all time 💯 even better than All Eyez On Me & Life After Death & that's saying a awful lot but literally every track is a banger on The Art Of War even the lesser songs u might not like as much on that album will still rub off on you when u play the album all the way through several times & the beat selection is all very unique to other albums but they're all tied together perfectly like they all have similar instruments to make that entire double album seem more like a movie score than just a album of just random songs!!!!! Masterpiece of Masterpieces!!!!! & It ages even better over time just like this song "Gangstas Paradise" does💯 this is probably the greatest most iconic rap song of all time even ppl who hate rap music love this song & know this song & it's got a billion views alone just on the official reuploaded version that was only reuploaded like 4 years ago so that's saying alot💯
He doesn't know who Coolio is. That's how you can tell we're old. Howl!! :-D
Man I'm from a little town in mexico and I know who the hell Coolio's is!? Amazing
After all these years this song still gives me Chill Bumps👍
Love it 😊
This was the best selling single of 1994 or 1995. He won everything for it that year.
Coolio sampled the Stevie Wonder song Pastime Paradise for this song. Then Weird Al made a parody- and Coolio was pissed off because Al asked permission and Coolio said yes but then changed his mind. This was used in the movie Dangerous Minds.
Hell yeah!! I thought I heard someone talkin' 'bout me. Coolio in the house! 🤘😁
Coolio...West Coast rapper...back in mid to late 1990s..this song and movie came out. It was the main song in the movie Dangerous Minds...about a troubled inter city school...and the teacher who had to find a way to reach the kids...who were mostly gangsters.
I'm literally a space alien who just landed on this planet and I know who Coolio is.
Now you gotta do a reaction to Weird Al's "Amish Paradise" since this video is fresh in your mind.
Weird Al bout got his ass whooped by Coolio because he didn’t have permission to make that song💯
@@mikefisher4834 uh, no he didn't.
@@mikefisher4834 wasn’t Coolio the one who said having a weird al cover meant you made it?
@@GriziDaWiz i think that was the guy from Nirvana who said it first. Lots of other people have agreed with the statement.
@@mikefisher4834 no weird al just contacted Coolios pr department or something abs they said sure Coolio had no idea and he was pissed weird al didn't ask him
Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise turned 25 last this year, and its place in music history is assured. It was believed to be the biggest-selling single of 1995 worldwide, and went to number 1 in at least 19 countries.5 Dec 2020
Can't believe you've never heard this song! It's a classic here in New Zealand!!
90s rappers: sitting on trash making GOLD
Nowdays rappers: sitting on gold making TRASH
J Cole? Kendrick Lamar? lol
Dangerous Minds is the name of the movie this song was written for.
I’m an old lady from Argentina and I KNOW who Coolio is! I even know the lyrics of Gansta Paradise! You don’t want to listen to me rap tho 🤓😆
The man singing the hook is the big guy in “Life” who asks Martin “You Gon Eat Yo Cornbread”💯💯💯
When rap was powerful and didn’t need constant cursing. Superior 🔥
Coolio is also a Chef. I dont know if its ongoing or not but he had a webseries regarding his cooking. He also has a cookbook out called "Cookin with Coolio: 5 Star Meals at a 1 Star Price".
The movie this is from is called, Dangerous minds. It is a brilliant film & should definitely be on your watch list of movies to see.
Thank you for your genuine reaction 💓💓💓
This was an ANTHEM when I was a kid. Everybody turned their radios up when this came on.
I used to work for a computer software company. One day I had his album in at work and was playing it on my headphones when one of my colleagues walked by and thinking it was computer software, asked what “Cool I/O” was, I/O being short for input/output.
Dude singing that hook is mad talented.
I love your energy bro good vibes🙏🏼
This song came out when I was a teenager. The youth of this generation need to hear this song. Pure poetry. Lit reaction homie. 🔥🔥😥
Watch “Dangerous Minds” with her Michelle Pheiffer! Great movie, old, but still has a story!
It’s not “old” lol.
@@edgegymnastics8409 it's also not considered a great movie
@@daveaglasgow that is your opinion, just like mine! If I think it’s a great movie, doesn’t mean you have too! 😬
I'm from Australia and I grew up listening to Coolio in high school and many other Rappers from the US who were popular in the 90's. You should check out Domino from Long Beach listen Long Beach Thang gfunk.

I was 16 when this came out... blasting this on my jeep tape player! 😂 The song never gets old.!
The song is from 1995. When gangsta rap was popular
Coolio was mostly 90s...great song & reaction!

this song was tops in the 90's!! Everyone was playin it!
Dangerous minds Is a great movie. Its a must watch.
I am a 61 year old Aussie mum and was 34 when this song came out. I was never into rap, loved heavier rock music, but went out and bought this as soon as I heard it and still love it. Brilliant song!!
Great respect to this song. Awesome
Soundtrack to the movie Dangerous Minds. Awesome movie. Amazing song RIP Coolio
This was linked directly to the movie Dangerous Minds (that's Michelle Pfeiffer confronting in the video)
Fantastic voyage.
Definitely gotta watch the movie!!
Fun guy and not a bad golfer either. Golfed together one day when he was in Vegas at the course. He did this song for a movie. Very laid back in person. Movie is "Dangerous Minds"
Many CZcamsrs recently react to old songs. and that's how i found this channel.
i found this song in 2005 first time. when i was playing NFS: MW on PS2 and friend played songs on pc.
funny enough thanks to this song i won first time race against my friend who was fanatic of NFS games.
i asked him about song so we went to check it on pc what it was and i was shocked that this song in 2005 had 10 freaking years.
the movie is called "Dangerous Minds".
Clips from The Movie Dangerous Minds! I miss COOLIO!!✌️
Are you for real man?! I'm from Honduras, a country in Latin America, and I know who Coolio is and this amazing song!
Awesome song!!!
This is the music I grew up on. This one was pivotal in the rap/hip-hop genre of the 90s. The movie (Dangerous Minds) is well worth seeing. The song was on the movie soundtrack. Coolio was and is one of my favorite artists ever.
Oh your watching something so from my teenage years in the 90s lol Iconic track. It’ll never die. “I’ve never heard of any Coolio.” Me: “🫤😳🤔The 90s me is judging you…I apologize.”
Hell I'm 63 and even I know who Coolio is love his music and I'm not a rap fan at all.

Coolio! Fantastic Voyage!!!
The song is from the movie Dangerous
Minds. Listen to weird als version of this called Amish paradise. Rap and hip hop from the 80s was great no matter what color you were you liked it. From the mid 90s to today, it hasn’t been no where near as good.
Fantastic Voyage and 1-2-3-4(Sumpin’ New)
Dangerous Minds was a great movie and I had this CD blasting in my car till I wore it out 🤣🥰
Movie is Dangerous Minds and i can't believe u have never heard of Coolio. U should check his first song "Fantastic Voyage" he came out with b4 Gangstas Paradise.
For anyone interested the movie is Dangerous Minds.
A favorite
Dude straight up looks and sounds like Aries Spears from MadTv lmao
lol oh man!
Coolio also rapped the Kenan and Kel intro he's also in the video
This brings me back to 5th and 6th grade in the mid 90’s
Fun fact I just learned: this song samples Stevie Wonder's Pastime Paradise. At first, Stevie didn't want his song sampled in a rap song because of the cursing. Coolio promised to write the song without any foul language. Goes to show that you can write a hard-edged, gangster song that gets your point across without any cursing.
Dude, Coolio..Fantastic Voyage!
Gangsta's paradise is one of "those" songs, I'm sure you all understand what i mean
I don't honestly know how one can say that he's been listening to rap/hip hop all your life, and never heard of Coolio and especially Gangster's Paradise... You haven't been born yet, most probably.
Growing up this was the ultimate thing to hear.
Total fact based. ☺
The movie is Dangerous Minds!!!
The Melodie is actually taken from a Stevie Wonder Song Pasttime Paradise
I believe that the great Stevie Wonder wrote this song in the mid 70's.
Only the hook. The rest of the song was written by coolio and he wrote it in 5 minuets to convince Stevie wonder his concent to use this song. Stevie agreed as long he would give him 95% of profits and Coolio agreed
Wrong Leon Sylvers of the group the sylvers wrote this in the early 70s
@@kabirahnazeem9403 wrong. Coolio copied a Stevie Wonder song called pastime paradise from the mid 70's. Google it.
I stand to be corrected Leon Sylvers wrote "And the beat goes on". Don't know where my head was

The name of the movie is "Dangerous Minds" And yes sir this entire songs bangs and it's put together perfect!!! You have Coolio with the vs, and then old buddy LV murdering the hook, and then comes the bang!!!! This shit is 🔥
