Superior version of this song, without a doubt. Fun fact: This is the first time Maxine Harvey actually appears in one of the KLF official videos, covering her own vocals. In all other videos, she is covered by someone else. She is the voice behind the female vocals in Last Train to Transcentral among others. They used very little female vocals aside from Maxine's in their short lived music careers. But yes, as someone else noted, Maxine killed it on this track. But I also like her vocals on Build a Fire from The White Room though. Very smooth. Also, not a very subtle reference to their own little career in the final added verse here: "At 3 a.m. eternity rang, she knew what time was love. It was her, she said, who killed the JAMS, while listening to the sound, the sound of MU" Pure insanity, but pure legend. There will never be another like this duo.
1 person is not bound to the others for Mu Mu Land. This version ROCKS! Pure dance music of 90's start, with some rappin' elements typical of some synth pop releases of the 80's and a house groove with fantastic vocals! One of my favs of that time, I remember it as it came out yesterday.
I remember "road tripping" (driving around the countryside looking for parties) and this song would come on it we would all be just over-joyed! Funny how a simple song with a good hook would rock out the truck. Heck we would actually stop and get out and dance on the side of the road. Thank God we were out in the country people now days would be thinking what are those kids on? It was fun! We would laugh when we would look up and see cows in a pasture when this song was on.
We did a very similar thing, probably 25 year earlier. Lived in an area where there wasn't a lot for teenagers to do so we drove around a LOT. And all we had was radio so when a great song came on it was awesome.
I get a little teary when I return to MuMu land. Those tunes would blow the fucking roof off back in the day. Imagine 2000 people crammed into a room, then dropping cold into 3am eternal. Those days...
@@moodyjames7871 yes my friend I lived it before joining the army at 16 out clubbing at 14/15 with distraught parents like mine pushing thru the crowds looking for their kids who weren't sure if they just paid a fiver for a piece of flyer or some real LSD before MDMA even hit the scene proper legendary times xxx
@@moodyjames7871 the one time I ended up with some proper proper acid in me the rest of the night at home in total silence was the most surreal thing I had ever experienced and I would kill to do it all again.
They are coming back. Techno part of the 90s was awesome. Get Ready For This by 2 Unlimited is still a Staple at Green Bay Packer Games. 2 Unlimited is one of the Best Sounds of the 90s. :Love If The World Just Danced by Diana Ross. The first new Song for her in years. Debuted in 2021.
The great song of my childhood!!! I can feel the "energy flow" from its sound!!! But, am I the only one who hear "Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo child" guitar samples here? (with "wah" effect) I think this guitar and the singing of Maxine Harvey are the two GENIUS ideas that made this song hit the TOP.
It has been forever since I have heard this song. I started having the beat in my mind and not remembering what song that is. And then it really hit me. So glad to have found this on youtube. I miss this group. Their stuff was original and so is that beat. No one makes it like this anymore. As it says in the song, "Bring the beat back!"
FireBirdSpirit I'm in the same case, bro! I've been searching for this song for almost 24 years. I had the beat in my head but had forgotten the actual lyrics, and had no idea of the song's title or band. And I've just found it by pure chance, when listening (also by chance), other KLF tracks, after being searching 90's music. I heard it first time in my teens when I was at school. Now I'm my 40's. And as you say, nobody makes music like this at present. Good old days...
this is a brilliant song.good old youtube.all i remembered was moo moo land.so i typed that in and found it.i haven't heard this in 20 years.......and yes the backing harmonies are lovely.........
@MrStarbucks10001 Did they play the Maxine Harvey vocals version on the radio? I know here in the UK, when it was out, the Tammy Wynnette vocals version was forever being played! :-S
I sang this to my daughter Chanelle when she was a baby, it made her laugh, she is 23 yrs old today, but I just love listening to it, even if it was amended, it was a great song to sing to my girl, and she still remembers when I did sing it to her, but with the record playing lollll. Glad that Tammy was a great singer in my time, and my mother loved her also.
b0110cks3000 And I think (may be wrong here, though!), ironically enough, Bohemian Rhapsody kept it off the Number 1 Spot in the UK charts late 91/early 92
Truely brilliant. I love Maxine Harvey I think she is ace. This is by far better than the Tammy Wynette. I wish the KLF would come reform. They are what the music industry needs right now
@arglwyddanfradwrus What time is love is another tune I remember perfectly. Great days for dance seem to be gone, because of all the commercial shit which is played in discotheques nowadays.
But they ruined it replacing the vocals of the lead singer. What made that song so unique was the combination of days of techno music, Rap music and then along comes the vocals of a country icon as a lead singer with that amazing southern drawl. I think they ruined the song and the nostalgia for me sadly erased. If you haven’t heard the original check it out
also changing the lyrics. “They called me up in Tennessee, and said Tammy stand by the jams” Change do “they don’t want to upset the apple cart” that’s stupidity that just spoiled renditions nostalgia’s creativity
@@slraifsniderSo let me get this straight. You "lose" your nostalgia in KLF over a decision they made over 30 years ago? Wow, talk about being a child. This version has existed ever since the single was released. It's a B side version of the song. Maxine Harvey also has the chorus on the original song with Tammy. Just relax and enjoy what we were given. It is a gift to the world that this duo existed. Complaining about it is just bullshit. As for what version is best? It's subjective at best. Personally I always loved Maxine's voice, but the Tammy version has something special for sure.
2023 and i'm dancing my butt off.....like 1991...than 26y now 57y...but still feels the same
Rest in peace Ricardo and Tammy

Maxine Harvey still had the chorus in the TW version though, but yes, this version is much better. I agree on that.
Nah. Tammy's voice much better
