    Thank you so much this fixed my bike. My low gears were making noises like it wanted to shift. Stupid me I turned every screw I could find to adjust it. Just made the whole thing worse. All I had to do was turn the barrel adjuster by one turn. However this video helped me correct my mistake of turning all the adjustment screws 😂. Anyone out there want me to work on your bike? I'm available to do so. 😆

    Your video is spot on, simple to follow and got the perfect adjustment in one go. Before I found your video, I was watching a few others, Park Tools was the first one I've watched and their video is usually very good but following their instructions on the rear derailleur, I was going back and forth on all my adjustment and messed everything up. I am so glad I found yours. Thank you very much for saving my many headaches. Subscribed!

      I think mine came bent by the factory..... It does a sound after the 4-5th gear and hiccup on a weird way..
      I did try many adjustments with the H and L screws and the barrel ..
      I'm sad now that I found that the fault is the RD.....

  • @dabber1

    An excellent no nonsense video. Covers everything in a very logical and understandable format. I've just used it to fit a 12 SLX to replace a broken SRAM SX12 which exploded with forest debris the other day. No SRAM NX RDs available and I never wanted to put on another SX which really is pretty poor. Just finished the SLX install and all worked fine with SRAM SX shifter, Chain, chainring and NX cassette. I needed to lengthen my chain by another link. The cassette is not 10-51 but 11 - 50 but lll seems fine. The hardest bit was the B-Screw adjustment. Thanks for a great video.

    I've done lots of road mechs but this is the first SGS MTB mech I've done. I'm amazed at how tight the clearances are for these, much more so than for road mechs. Wish there was a barrel adjuster at the mech on these to make it slightly easier to tweak. Good tip on doing the high/low adjustments and cable anchoring before putting the chain on - it's really fiddly otherwise (despite the Dealer Manual saying otherwise). By the way, this video is relevant for the new RD-M5100-SGS Deore mech for the Deore 5100 11-51T 11 speed cassette as it's got the same cable anchor and adjustment screw positions.

They need to make that derailleur tab anodized red so you can ask yourself, "I wonder why thats's red!?" Thanks again for taking the time to post. VERY helpful.

    • @davidh7414
      @davidh7414 Před 3 lety +1

      yes, on 1x12 SLX and Deore, you need to open up the clutch cover, adjust the clutch then re-seal the clutch cover. XT and XTR don't need to have the cover removed to adjust the clutch

    • @alerek
      @alerek Před 4 lety

      I might know the reason for your problem. The small turnable part that is resting on your hanger (b-screw goes on it). The 'tab' as he is reffering to at 2:46 - If this is installed wrong your b screw wont have enough range to get over the 51cog.

    • @Harry-cx1xg
      @Harry-cx1xg Před 4 lety

      Bluebird I looked to see if it went all the way over to the 51 and it would not with no chain even though my hanger was straight even with my low limit all the way out

    • @alerek
      @alerek Před 4 lety

      @@Harry-cx1xg Yes, had the same problem. Check the 'tab', is your b screw touching the tab attached to the direlleur or is it pressning against the mech hanger?

    How do I know if my Shimano SLX rear derailleur is the M7000 version, or a different version? What do those numbers even mean? they make it ridiculously confusing, there's no need for that!
