Steve Searches an area south of Mount St. Helens near the Ape Cave area. We also talk a minute about the incident at Ape Canyon back in the 1920's when miners were chased from their cabin my "mountain apes."

I was at St Helens in August 1987. It was incredible to say the least. I hiked the head of Ape Canyon a little down from the main lahar flow. One lasting memory is a hand sized rock embedded nearly completely in the side of a large pine.

Ya it's an interesting area I've got a few stories i talk about in my book called off the beaten path by ja Roberts some of the best stories I have are from the Gifford pincho
