This method of critique/communication is very relevant to UI design as well.

So far 8 minutes in. As a Fine Art student myself I have been very much immersed in the same culture that preaches what this guy is speaking. I'm glad that someone has put that out there for the benefit of game developers in general. It's tragic that this aspect of communication isn't more closely nurtured in schools.
Edit: But I think the distinction should be made that the 'less effective' feedback is not strictly the same as bad feedback. Or at least when discussing in a group scenario. It's possible that when one person speaks a phrase such as "That's a poor use of camera angle." it may invite someone else to come up with a more articulate way of reinforcing why they may think that. It may even lead the artist to a new line of questioning that they may have previously not considered thoroughly enough.

Enlightening, really good point about letting others solve the problem through framing

i like the original rockband heads, they were kinda alien

10:00 You can do that by not making a head that looks like an alien "probed" a human woman and out popped that monstrosity 9 months later. Even if that was textured and included eyes I would still get that impression. Tall skinny neck, oversized cranium, extra long nose, basic upside down teardrop shape from the front... that's classic Grey alien head shape. Make the neck shorter and thicker and use correct human proportions first then add some style that would be specific to the franchise like more brow prominence, stronger than normal jaw but average chin. Something that gives it character without going alien "probe" child. I like the model and all but it doesn't fit the games theme, if this was a comedy game and one house in the game gets visited by an alien everytime the father goes to work and the kid to school and the kid had that head it would be absolutely perfect. But this is Rock Band and not The Simpsons game. Look at how rock bands portray themselves, tough guys and gals who like leather, chains, and spikes. That's what the target audience will expect.
There that's my crit that happened.
