The 'broken' signup button is genius!
Oh yes!!! It’s delicious!! And if you’ve got a live chat turned on, it allows you to see how much people really “really” need your product!
Those messages about broken button link was fuel for me and the team during the months we were building because it’s much better than just a form asking for email and name, it shows more intent!
Some people say to create a simple landing page asking for name and email to be notified when your product launches, I say that’s small boy stuff - anyone can fill an email.
But it takes a level of intent to go to a website, navigate to the pricing page, see the price of the product, see the features, then click to signup and signup doesn’t work, then you start a live chat to complain! That’s a lot of intent!

Oh yes, I will create a video on that. It’s a very funny story actually, so it deserves a Vlog on its own. Might even be the next Vlog!
Also, I didn’t have customers before launch since there was nothing to sell yet, but I had potential customers and people who were interested (and eager) for the product to launch (the people who started live chat asking why the signup button wasn’t working and more via social media)
Regarding having a team whilst validating my idea. I had a UI/UX designer and a fullstack developer.
I use the word “had” loosely because they weren’t necessarily my “team members” at the time, they were freelancers I wanted to hire.
I’d already worked with the fullstack dev on a small project I hired him for and I liked how diligent and skilful he was, so I offered him a full time role to work on my next thing (which was Footy Amigo)
But before he could start doing anything, I had to get a UI/UX guy to create the initial screens so my dev guy can understand how things would work.
So, I worked closely with my UI designer to craft the user journey, flow and designs whilst in the background I was also working with my dev guy explaining the whole industry and getting him accustomed to the lingo of the industry etc (since my industry is football and football trading/betting - there’s a lot of things I had to teach and explain to the dev guy as he had no football knowledge)
Because there were (and are) competitors in my space, I knew the project could be built and already knew what the pain points and what people wanted but wasn’t present in ANY of the competitors at the time, so I built the website like the platform was ready (which Is what I explained in hack 1)

Yes, I find that going to the gym before doing anything else in the day always helps me (personally), if I don’t have a gym session before starting my day properly, I just feel a bit off throughout the day.
So it’s a very important part of my daily routine and by using an app to guide my session, it makes it easier as I don’t need to think of what to do, I just follow a routine.

E-bikes are very fun, you should consider it! Working at WeWork is also fun, I’ve always worked from my home office all my life - I decided to try working outside this year as a way to get accustomed to working among other people to properly prepare me for the possibility of getting an office space for my startup. I’m liking it so far 😃

Good video - I love the fact that the buttons were linked to nothing - this is smart. In my past project, I used "waiting lists" but without success. I will definitely try this one with my new startup ;) May I ask how you sent traffic to your website ? Ads ? organic ?

Oh yes, eating lists are good but I think they don’t show enough intent like actually reading the content on the homepage, watching the explainer video, deciding to go the pricing page, seeing the price and then clicking to create an account - these steps have a lot of hurdles that are in place to really gauge the intent and interests of the potential audience.
A simple waiting list shows intent but not as much intent as the above, that’s why I always use this and I personally think they work better (ofcourse they take more time to setup etc)
For traffic, I mentioned the 2 ways in the video - creating “us” Vs “them” comparison type content for ALL your competitors/substitute products AND using Quora. (These are shown and explained in the video)

It's been really cool watching your videos over the last while. With the landing page hack, how would you respond to users when they sent the chat message?
Hey Amigo! Thanks for the message and for watching, I appreciate it.
Oh whenever someone started a live chat then, I would let them know that the button wasn’t working because the platform wasn’t ready but will be launched very soon. Then i would ask if they would like to be notified when we went live and 99% of them would say “hell yeah!!!”
So I had a list of enthusiastic people who were counting down time for us to launch. I even had a guy get angry at me because he came back after a month and the signup button wasn’t still working 😃, I had to tell him good work takes time.
For the live chat app, I use Tawk.to, it’s a simple and free live chat and I love that it has mobile app - which means I can get chats instantly on my phone and reply to people within seconds!

Oh I haven’t ever used (or liked) product hunt. For some reason I’ve always felt product hunt works well for certain products and I don’t think it’s a good fit for my target audience, that’s why I never used it.
But product hunt is also a fantastic route 👌

I’m not an SEO expert, so I won’t be able to give an exact timeframe.
There’s also a lot of things involved: keyword volume, ease of ranking, your content etc.
But if I’m to give a rough (very rough) timeframe - I would say 3-6months.
I personally started getting organic traffic within a month. This could be due to numerous reasons such as; writing content for low hanging keywords, going extra mile than the competition by making my contents longer, value filled and using an SEO plugin to ensure my content is super optimised and a bunch of other things.

Yes, I’ve never ran paid marketing for my Us Vs Them pages (maybe I should) they all get traffic organically
Due to the nature of my startup (in the trading and sports betting space), I’m really unable to do a lot of paid marketing, so I am having to build organically.
If you have any more questions specific to this method, be sure to let me know. I’ll share what I know.

Hey Amigo. Running a startup especially one in my industry where it’s all about data and stats, no day is the same. (Even if it was the same, as long as you are passionate about the solution you are bringing to the market and the people you are solving the problem for, it will always be fun)
That being said, as an entrepreneur- I have my hands in a few different pots but Footy Amigo is the number 1 priority.
Wework crash didn’t affect my life or any entrepreneur who isn’t a wework employee to be fair.
Marketing is my skillset which I’ve always had and learnt about 10 years ago in my other endeavours

Please improve your vlogs. You didn't introduce yourself or your startup to new viewers. All other CZcamsrs introduce themself and their project at the beginning of all their vlogs or dev logs.

This is a series of episodes and it becomes repetitive (and boring) to re-introduce my startup or myself in every single episode or video. Imagine you’ve been watching me for months or years as some people have and every single video I release, I re-introduce myself, that would be very boring and repetitive.
It’s a catch 22. It’s either I introduce myself in every single video and make the current subscribers bored and annoyed or I introduce myself in every single video to make new potential people happy.
I’ll always choose the first because I personally would not like to see someone I already know and follow repeat the same thing every time.
If you are new and stumble on one of my videos, if you like the content - you will be intrigued to know more about this person and this will lead you to watching earlier episodes where proper introductions are done.
