I watched this fight, Jerry was terrible. I felt so sorry for him. I remember they interviewed Frank Sinatra after the fight, and he said Jerry should retire. RIP Jerry
Zanon was an excellent boxer (undisputed European champion beating opponents such as Alfredo Evangelista) but due to an accident he had a disability in his right leg which limited him and made his right punch less powerful.
Not Chris Shenkle or old blue eyes could measure the heart and power of Jerry on this night. The only thing sad is we didn't get to see baggy-assed Howard in a pair of trunks showing us how it is done.
Jerry attributed his poor performance to needing more training to get into shape after the fight, then quietly retired again. Sadly he would make further comebacks in 1983 (38) and,disturbingly, in 1991 at 48, losing a one sided battering to a Colorado club fighter.
It has to be very disappointing to see pay skyrocket just after retiring. In these days, most pro athletes needed a second job in order to pay the bills. 🤔

Quarry had killer instinct.....good fighter...need more head movement
He had great head movement. Unfortunately it was due to his head being smacked around like a tether ball.
Quarry's reflexes were shot. He was lucky to catch Zanon.

Zanon had a very weak chin. Quarry was still popular with the fans back then, but he wasn't half the fighter he was in the early 70's.
