This vlog is just amazing, i love everything!
My Mandarin teacher last year used quizlet for vocabulary too, at first I didn't like it - because I'm not a huge fan of flashcards - but by the long run I realized that it is a great way to learn and memorize characters.

It's not that watch sounds like death, at least I can't think of anything close to 表/手表, but rather that a watch is a kind of clock and 送钟(gift a clock) is a homophone with 送终(to pay one's last respects).
