All the best Joe to you, your family and with the next adventure in your lives. It has been an an absolute pleasure to have seen what Bulgarian life is like in the Haskovo Region. For me & my wife we're definitely going to buy a home in Bulgaria for the intention of a family holiday home at first, then as a permanent home when we retire, ( we're in our mid 50's). The sticking point has always been that i wanted to live in central southern Bulgaria as it's close to Greek coast, but wife wants to be close to the black sea because of having grandkids and so would be close to the resorts and things for to do. So guess who wins? lol. Maybe Joe you might in time return to finding properties or offering your services as a go between in the future which i'm sure is greatly needed out there, but i get it that you want to rest. Anyway Joe i doubt a talented man like yourself will struggle to find your next niche. All the best my friend, Daz.

Hey Joe! I will be in touch, but glad to hear you guys are NOT leaving the country but hoping to move closer to the coast! I would certainly be interested in doing that sometime in the next five years as well. I met some amazing people who are starting a school a little bit south of Varna, and there is a cool school in Varna as well--when I went to the European Democratic schools conference in Sofia this summer. Still hope to hook up with you guys at some point in the future for education stuff and beyond, I know we will!!! My immigration journey to Bulgaria is stalled at the moment as I am having a hard time getting paid enough to save up for it, but one way or another I will be back in Sofia soon and then I'll come and see you wherever you are!! Sounds like a great move, my mum has an apartment in sozopol. Maybe we can hook up sometime 😊 having lived by the sea for our whole lives it was always a priority for us to be a doable distance from the coast 💙

Yes, I was wondering what made you decide to sell that land on the hill where we saw the man with the beer. I thought that was only just selling that one property and was wondering why there wasn't a lot more properties shown for sale.
However I do understand that sometimes our priorities do change and we take a different direction as a result.
I am definitely keen to see if you do get the big farm. I always wanted a big place too, as you know but due to not retired yet or had my place sold, I was on a limited budget.
I still like that old school and hope that when the cash comes in, that it might still be available.

I've spent several years living on boats.
Does anyone live full time on a boat in BG?
Not that I've seen, but I have considered it many times! 😅 Buying a lake and sticking a wide beam on it.

@@cornishhh there's some awesome videos on CZcams on people doing it. I feel the need to live near water again. A big part of why we're going to try moving to the sea.

Looking at lots of videos of Bulgaria, it looks quite a bleak place even when the sun is shining. The housing is in terrible condition with no real sanitation and the gardens are just a mess as are the roads. The Brits appear to be aiming for the very rugged countryside with roads that are just tracks. Living next door to an abandoned ruin until another Brit arrives on the scene to buy it. I really don't see the appeal. What is the internet connection and phone signal like in the remote villages which is vital for business. What about employment? Folk will be moving to Pripyat next.
There is a lot of that it's true, but there's a beauty to it that you have to experience to understand. We've loved rural village life for the last 7 years and now we're moving into the wilderness. For us it's all about the stunning nature and wild this country has to offer. In combination with the weather and cheap prices, for us it's a no brainer. And yes phone signal and internet is great. It's also pretty easy to earn a living online.
