  • The biggest killer on either side of the battle line is not the enemy! Gen. Hasnain shares his experiences and what it takes to survive the most difficult battle zone on the planet.
Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM & BAR, the former Corps Commander of the Indian Army’s Srinagar based 15th Corps is also one of the most higly decorated officers who has experience of almost every turbulent spot where the Indian Army is deployed. He served in Sri Lanka, Punjab (during the militancy), North East India, Jammu & Kashmir and commanded his unit in the Siachen Glacier. He also served the United Nations in Rwanda and Mozambique. In 2010 he was assigned to Kashmir for the seventh time to lead the Army’s efforts to find peace. His achievements, through an innovative approach to sub conventional conflict. His leadership techniques famously titled - ‘Heart is My Weapon”, “Play Friend, Not God” and “Passion in the Heart & Fire in the Belly”, are considered new age mantras for the Army and other organizations.

The norm is that the senior-most officer becomes the Chief. Lt Gen Hasnain was the Military Secretary when he retired, which is not the senior-most appointment. So he didn't become the Chief. This norm is rarely ever broken. I just wanted to clear the air, because I think one of the replies made it about religion or competence? Lt Gen Hasnain is widely regarded in military and civilian circles alike, and the only reason he didn't become the Chief was because of seniority. Jai Hind!

Good Talk but really bad editing. It would have been nice if the camera was zoomed on the screen rather than an unwanted crane shot. I hope the editor gets fired. Lots of important detail missed.

Great speech but spoiled by idiot cameraman. He zoomed out when the presenter was showing something interesting and I was really keen to see the slide. He kept showing the audience and zooming on presenter sometimes. Anyone with common sense would know this simple thing. And please don't come up with defence saying it's for security reasons. If that's the excuse then this presentation should not have existed.
