- Hi Its BMACVAGS here, in this video I show how to Repair the common sticky gear issues found on the Alfa 147 & 156 Cars. The problem is caused by worn gearbox bushings which are cheap and reasonably easy to replace with some simple tools. I usually only do VWs and Audi's, but the main purpose of my videos are to help people. Thank you for the support, and I hope this video helps.

Good video, one thing I did was to spray the whole area daily for 5 days with penetrating oil, then when I came to do the job it went really smoothly everything came off and went back on easily, I also lubed the pin with copper grease before reassembly.
O my GOD! Thank you so much good sir. Definetly will be doing this as soon as possible. My gears are stickerier than yours used to be, way stickier, its hard to find 3rd and 5th
Awesome video. Can you leave a link for this replacement part from ebay? Just to make sure I order for the right part.
Brilliant! Just what I needed in order to understand what's going in with my Alfa Romeo 147 gear leaver and how to fix it!! Thanks

Great stuff. Thanks from Germany 😀
Great video a presentation 👍
Many thanks to you ! :)
Done mine, you are the best :)
Does this apply to the Selespeed g'box linkages as well? My daughters 147 seems like its got issues going into first gear.
Great stuff. Only thing I would suggest to you and everyone is try and obtain some Silicone Grease, ..not sealant but grease. Plumbers suppliers or Amazon sell tubs of it.
It's the recommended grease where metals and rubber constantly move. It won't dry or destroy the rubber.
That or red rubber grease.
Thanx ! a was wondering where the lateral adjustment is. Great video!
Good video mate. You explain it well.
Glad you liked it
Vaseline may not be a great idea on rubber as its petroleum and can degrade rubber. Maybe some silicone grease or general purpose grease would be fine. Nice job.
Good stuff and very easy to follow vid 👍
Glad you liked it!
Followed on my 2009 147 Collizione and slightly different, mine had no bolt on back. Am wondering, did yours have a cable attached? Mine does, it loks like a ball joint socket so am going to try to just pop it off and hope as can't find any clip etc. Great video that was easy to follow. Thanks dude
Hey mate. Do you have any tips on what I should do on the following problem: My 2006 1.4 TSI (140) Golf 5 shakes very little at idle, but only When it's at full temp. Do you know what I should do? I am thinking that it is sooded up, or it could be the chain..? Any ideas?

Thank you for the Tuto. I made the fix, but despite a slight improvement I still have the problem when the motor is hot !! The bushing and the corrosion weren't critical. Any idea ?

I'm struggling to reach third now, do you think this fix will do it ? Mines a 2005 147.
Hallo
Where can I get that plastic washer please..?
would this work on a Fiat Bravo 1.9 JTD engine?
Nicely done! Are you please able to provide a part number?
Welcome Back mate, Still have the Golf 4? would like to see finished house, if it is possible.
Suleyman Duran ucci2000.
how to instal oil catch can in vw Golf 4 Thanks :)
Do you have a link to where I can buy these rubber grommets?
Hi mate, nice vid. I have a Alfa GT, same engine with the look of it. Its struggling to go into second and reverse... not so much sticking tho. Would it be the same repair to fix or would it be something completely different?
Which engine is it? I thing clutch or flywheel should be checked on yours. Could also be the syncros
please make video with mk4
Good video, but please increase your sound volume to approx double the level. This is really really low.
Eeyyy my boy is back :)
I am not ridiculing, but the vaseline might not be compatible with the gromet, it is petroleum based and and I think petroleum brakes down over time, silicone paste is the safer option.
I used what I had at the time, but thanks for the info.
Great video, thank you.
Does anyone know if the procedure is the same for an Alfa Romeo GT ? (same engine, that's why I'm asking)
Same process mate
Thanks mate
This helped
Where are u based ?
Where did you find washers, what are numbers
Hi can you try and test hydrogen peroxide and water for decarbonizing the engine?
Hi, would this be the problem and fix for my 147s difficulty from 2nd to 3rd gear.
Yes, quite possibly
Hello friend good vídeo ,can you put the link to buy it or where can i get It ?. Thanks

Hey Boydie good to see you back, how are you getting on with your house?
House is done Phil, thank you for asking. It was a long hard journey, but its done now.
You'll hopefully have more time to make the videos then?
We do hope so!
plus petroleum is temperature sensative.
What causes the gearbox not to take the gears when the car idling but when it's switched off all the gears will go through on Alfa Romeo 156 v6 2001 model?
Clutch
Is this the same for the t spark engines
Yes

What cars do you currently own?
Can anyone just tell us what washer part is needed to do this job. Many people have asked in the comments but no1 is getting a response. Thank you
Let me find it for you and put link in the description
Did you know where can we buy it ?
Wtf it is not possible to find that kind of washers...
Where did you get it from..?
Thanx but i,ll give it to a Alfa garage when it,s time.
Vasoline is really the wrong lubrication for this job, It's a petroleum based product and will perish rubber, Use silcone grease for rubber parts that need lubrication!
first comment***
Of course you mean Alfa Romeo 156, not 157 (which does not exist)
Kalobos You can tell I am not an Alfa guy....lol
BMAC VAGS .....i am THE ALFA GUY)))))please bmac.......do a tutorial about dismantling turbocharger from alfa 147 1.9 JTD......and Just for precision.......alfa 156 don t have the same leverage .....alfa 147/GT Bertone/159 are very similar.......not 156........i have a GT Bertone 1,9 JTD.......for this i want a tutorial for dismantling turbocharger))))))
