Due to problems with fuel contamination of the engine oil on these honda engine's, avoid topping it up..add the recommended 3.7 quarts of oil

  • @momopro2499

For anyone who is not a mechanic, please do not add 5 quarts to a 1.5L engine. IT WILL RUIN YOUR ENGINE! The oil capacity for 1.5L engine is 3.4 quarts without changing the oil filter and 3.7 quarts with a new oil filter. I REPEAT, DONT NOT add 5 quarts to your engine!

I have done over 300 oil changes on my own cars over my 45 years of car ownership (just did the Odyssey yesterday and planning on the Civic today). From my young days of making the typical mistakes on my old beat up Vega and Thunderbird (forget to put oil plug back in, filter gasket stuck on mount plate, wrong filter in box and didn't compare filter number/mount pre-install). I decided to watch this to pick up and tips and tricks from a pro. You are good at providing practical tips and useful guidance quickly without alot of filler, so it is always useful to watch your videos even for something I have alot of experience with. Lotta good stuff in here for the beginner and experienced DIYer. I like the dry rag for grip & hand-tighten only, the filter wrench selection tips, and the half filter prefill on angled filters to preload oil while avoiding spills. Good stuff as usual. Keep it up and thanks!

They got some weird new method on these vehicles where the computer calculates the oil life based on time since last oil change, miles driven so thats why the oil percentage doesnt quite work as they would in previous vehicles where the maintenance light would automatically come on every 5k miles..more-so since that generation honda has a problem with oil dilution so they dont want oil to be in the engine so long

I jack up the lift point behind the driver-side wheel, but I can't seem to put my Pro-LifT T-6903D jack stand on the pinch weld a little to the right of that lift point (which is what I see some other people do)... The jack stand seems to push into the carpeted underside here.
