DIESEL 10'S BACK! *Shudders* Yes. 10/10, for devious deeds and brutal strength! The blast from the past, who hates steam engines. Maybe, we do need Mr. Conductor here after all. On time.
I remember going from Paddington to Exeter with this particular loco in about 1973 , I was a fireman/second man because it broke down as we came into Taunton and luckily for us the train crew they had a class 47 available so we only lost about 15 minutes…For me it’s hard to look back without a bit of nostalgia, that was 50 years ago and I was about 22 ..
@@12crepello Thanks I wasn’t sure of the exact time frame, I was based in Old Oak Common and this particular Warship gave a lot of problems is the information we were given at Taunton…
I used to like train spotting at the allotment near Old Oak Common and often see a Warship failure double headed by a grimy old GWR Hall or a 28XX. Happened once on train journey with my parents to Weston Super Mare with double headed Warships noisy but fast.
I suspect you're confusing 'train' with 'locomotive,' as so many do. The Warships were only loosely based on a German design, in the event, due largely to UK loading restrictions. The resulting Class 42 and Class 43 locomotives were actually built in Swindon and Glasgow respectively and so were hardly 'foreign.' Having said that, they were equipped with twin German engines and German hydraulic transmissions.
What Diesel 10 is based on was the reason why it brought me into this loco.
And the Class 42 became one of my favourite locos after that.

If I won the lottery I would buy every remaining Class 42 on Earth and build more
There are only two remaining.. but ok

832 was withdrawn in 1972.

Where's the claw?
that claw is an illegal modification
@@VermillionRed THEN MAKE IT LEGAL!!!!
@@lemmythebulldog8812 what would you even use it for?
Illegal, and impractical, of course.
Just imagine trying to fit through BR's tunnels with that

i like class42
Thats an excellent train plus it looks really foreign! Excellent catch of this :)
It is essentially a German Railways V200, but made smaller to fit within the BR loading gauge
The "Warship" was really based on the idea of the German V200.
Really ?????????? Amazing !!!!!!!!!!
It is essentially that, but shrunken a bit as to fit the loading gauge on BR

The real life diesel 10 without a claw
Why don't they have claws in real life?
@@masterfarr8265 Illegal. Pointless. Dangerous. Why would they?

HELLO
Also the claw was illegal? I didn't know that.
yes the claw would be Illegal
It would make the loco larger than the loading gauge, eg it would strike bridges and tunnels

The engines were built in England by Bristol Siddeley.
