I have the next generation up from this in blue (with teak deck dial), but I've been looking at this for a nice black dial watch. It's just so clean and near perfect.

Blue sunburst one here. 2503.80 auto 39 mm. Bought it full set 8 years ago under 2K preowned. That watch isn't going anywhere. Beautiful piece.

I have this exact watch. It's a 2009 model that I purchased in 2009. I believe it was discontinued that year. It is currently going through its second servicing right now after 7 years. You should be servicing it every 5-7 years.

I have always wanted a Rolex day date/ day just...but the first gen Aqua terra has replaced it on my wish list, I've watched and read alot of reviews of people who own this watch and they seem pretty happy with it..I've been saving a few bucks hear and there and I'm about to pull the trigger and own one my self, I'm veeeeery excited!

This is by far way better than the current Aqua Terra. Going from a 20mm to 19mm lug width is ridiculous.

Having this exact version since around 2007, I’m hooked forever. When its new version came out with vertical lines on dial, I asked myself why not horizontal which will look much better and finally it came, around 2017.

Bought the blue one (2503.80) for around $2k used in 2015. Still have it today. Saw these going for $4k+ these days? Super all round for a one watch collection. Custom made some proper alligator straps for dressy occasions. Looking for some new casual leather straps to spice it up and wear casual. Metal bracelet feels a little old.

Great watch. I have the blue 2503.80, the dial is stunning. Fits perfect on my 192mm wrist and the price was very reasonable, US$1800 and $450 service and $100 for a strap. Still looking for some links for the bracelet to make it fit.

I am awaiting to receive this watch this week. I was weighing whether to get this or the 36mm. I would’ve gone for the 36mm but it was 1K Eur more expensive and that was a deal breaker for me. Anyhow I can’t wait to sport it. My left wrist is ~1mm shy of 17cm and I do hope it’ll make a great fit to kickstart my one watch collection 😅

I’ve been looking into these older models. My main reason... The new ones have polished mid links on the bracelet. I’d scratch it up a lot if I got one. My man concern with these though, is the lack of micro adjustment. Even with half links, I’m not sure I’d get a good fit on the bracelet.

    • @JustWatchreviews

The 2500 Seamasters were all superior to their successors. This is the finest example of the Aqua Terra - not least because it doesn't have the wave dial. It's a much cleaner aesthetic.

Perhaps someone could weigh in on my question. I currently have the next generation Aqua Terra skyfall 38.5mm, which is 13mm in thickness. I do find the watch too thick to wear for daily use. I quite like look of this first generation Aqua Terra, and thinking about seeking out a 36mm version of it which has an 11mm thickness. Would a difference of 2mm be much of a difference? I continue to hear the more simple and smaller case (thickness) on this first generation is more appealing from a comfort perspective.
