- The Somersault by Caroline Guitar Company was a pedal I had my eye on for a while! Somersault is a lo-fi modulator pedal that creates some really cool sounds on harp -- I hope you enjoy my Somersault demo!
Curious about how I use effects pedals with my harp?

Love the pedal effects... it's almost like you obtain a new instrument from the combination!
Thanks so much!!! There’s so much uncharted territory with harp and effects, it’s so much fun. I’ve found some really amazing sounds
@@emilyharpist this aged well!
4:40 thank you camera person for showing the dog getting pets
HAHAHA I’m so glad this was caught on camera
You straight-up found the exact font they used on the pedal and used it as the font in your video. That’s dedication
Thank you for noticing, Doug! Haha I always try my best with that stuff
Such a charming video! I love how the effect doesn't interfere with the beauty of the harp.
Extra-Ethereal. We really getting into chilling with these harp videos after work.
Thank you so much 💜
Emily is a freaking brilliant musician / sound maker. Fripp/Eno/Belew levels of genius.
Wow, you're great with the Hape, and just to say, I started to follow because of your short videos, but now im going back watching to all of your Hape playing videos thank you for the content
Emily this has a liquidy quality which is very pleasing. Almost like a blurring between realities...LOVE THIS!!!
VERY accurate description!!! ❤️
Ive never wanted to learn the harp so badly until I found your channel. Great stuff, keep it up!
Perfect music for relaxing, and the soundtrack for some very pleasant dreams. Love your style, Emily!
Thanks so much for being here and for your kind words!! I appreciate you 😊
still loving your videos- beautiful sounds :) thanks
This is great. Really beautiful sounds.
Thank you David ❤️:)
I really dig how you're always experimenting with your harp. Blazing your own trail! Keep em' coming, Emily 🤘😎🤘
Pig in Boots!!! Always so nice to read your comments ❤️ thank you so much!! The experimentation will never end 😆
Somersault is fabulous as is your playing, Emily. Thanks loads 😊
The alien hieroglyphics pedal! Harp and kalimba both sound great through it.
I’ve been meaning to try this one for a long time!! I was so happy with the sounds :) thank you Beau :)
you are the first one on Harp with Pedal i see on youtube, i like that sound, thankyou
Thank you so much!! I love playing harp through as many pedals as I can to discover new sounds!
She sends waves of beauty, timeless echoes of the soul...
Thx. 💠
This is incredible.
Thank you so much!! :)
Super great session. Nice music while I’m on the road.
Thanks so much!!! Glad I could help make the drive a little better for you :)
Beautiful! I'm imagining a really ethereal dream pop, shoegaze kind of thing with this going on. Awesome playing!
Honestly I could see that too!! 🤔 thanks so much Danny!! ❤️
This sounds fantastic this pedal is awesome good stuff emily
Thanks so much Sam!! I love this pedal
Every pedal you play is just top notch. I like how you don't go for any basic stuff. I don't really know what I'd do with that pedal but it does sound pretty neat.
Thanks so much!!! I have a pedal obsession 😆 honestly this pedal works great as a more tame chorus effect!
Why do harpists always make such beautiful hand gestures--or rather, why don't other musicians? Loved this.
Thanks so much!!! I actually just filmed a video about harp hand gestures the other day!! It should be out in the next few weeks!
I think it has to do with the fact that other instruments are supposed to keep their arm fairly immobile and just move the hands.
Beautiful playing as usual 😊 The name Somersault really seems to suit the sound of this pedal! Also, I just wanted to say I think you have great style and I love your distressed jeans with the harp 🤣
Thank you SO much!! I had a lot of fun with this pedal :) also I thrifted these jeans and after I brought them home, I found out they’re worth a lot more than I got them for!!! A new staple in my wardrobe 😂
As unfortunate it is to still live in SC I am at least in contact with the fine folks and Felipe from Caroline Guitar Co. and Dennis at Pro Tone Pedals. As an extended range guitarists and Fractal Convert, these are amazing companies for what I like and enough to explore new realms! Love Caroline Guitar Co. And oh yeah, youre awesome and as a newbie to your channel, thanks for broadening the world of harp to us mere mortals. I really want to get one but am not ballin' enough. Another reason to soak up your awesome content \m/!!
4:38 made me so happy
Yes! This is amazing content!
Thank you so much for listening! 🥰🎶
You paint soundscapes and visions with your music it's like looking at a painting
WOW, Okay! Now you did something that I can truly appreciate. You made some wonderful sounds with your harp and a peddle that I can associate with. Outer space sounds that are worthy of being on a movie and as, a good movie at that.
Bravo!
Nemo-
Thank you so so much Nemo!!! I really appreciate that ❤️
Reminded me of how much I love both the harp and lo-fi chorus/vibrato pedals; relieved some anxiety that hit me in the wee hours. :)
thank you so much!! I'm so glad I could help relieve a bit of early-morning anxiety -- I know the feel! ❤️
I love the Cobalt blue color of your harp. Lovely all around.
Thank you so much! :) I always wanted a blue harp ever since I was a kid haha and this one is electroacoustic!
The harp sounded great, but that kalimba sound IMMEDIATELY reminded me of Turquoise Hexagon Sun by Boards of Canada. Love that sound!
95% of it (excluding slightly jarring parts where you're just playing around and showing how extreme the effects can get) was so relaxing and good for decompressing, but the song that began at 5:56 took my heart by the hand and gently walked it up and down some hills
🥰❤️
awesome! would love to see a demo with the jam pedals waterfall
Curiously beautiful x
Thank you ❤️
If I may, there is a music called "City of flickering destruction", from a ps1 game called "Legend of Mana". I think it would sound AMAZING om harp...
Merely a suggestion 😊
Love your work madame
Thanks so much ❤️ I’ve never heard of that game! I’m definitely going to check that out :)
WOOOOOOO Lofi that harp up!!! I voted for this one 😎
Hahaha yay!! I filmed all 3 of those lo-fi pedals, so you’ll hear the rest soon enough!! I’m surprised at how different they all were
That's amazing. I don't think that I've ever heard anything quite like it. You play so many instruments, and so well. No wonder the evil queen was so envious of Snow White. You were a prodigy.
😂 thank you so much!!!
Just ordered one of these :) I was after a pedal that does chorus but allows you to speed rate/vibrato effects by foot :) and then Return to chorus effect :)
Idk what the technique at 1:40ish is called but it sounds fantastic. The warble on this pedal is very pleasing, may even like it more then the cba demos :p
I have been blessed by the algorithm. I didn't know modulated harp was something I needed, but here we are!
Hahaha I’m so glad you made your way here!! ❤️
@@emilyharpist Do you have any recorded music anywhere? Was looking through the description for a Bandcamp or something. Need a fix of the ol' harpgaze.
@@terminalglimmer right now I just have stuff in my “original music” playlist here on CZcams, and also some stuff on Spotify! I’m currently working on more singles and a full album. I’ve been considering putting some stuff on bandcamp, just haven’t gotten to it yet!!
@@emilyharpist I'ma have to check out more of yr channel, then! Thought the Zoia demo was incredible.
Thank you so much ❤️ ❤️
This sounds beautiful. I'd love to see you play through the Caroline Megabyte and Meteor pedals.
I would love to do those!!!
Keep doing your thing.. so dope!
Thank you Carlton ❤️
@@emilyharpist thank you as well! 🙂
Sounds wonderful!
thanks so much ❤️
@@emilyharpist Thank you! It is so nice to hear these pedals with the harp :)
@@jaredshaw8163 many more coming soon!!! :)
@@emilyharpist And I'm still looking forward to hearing the Wardenclyffe ;D
@@emilyharpist And I'm still looking forward to hearing the Wardenclyffe ;D
Yes! Kaliimba Break!
Maybe a strange question. But I know zero about harp.
How do you transport a harp from point a. to point b. It looks massive and fragile. Does it go in a huge case? Or does it get taken apart?
Hahaha sorry I didn’t get to answer this before you found my moving the harp video!!
The effect on the music around the 6-minute mark sounded almost like something that Deep Sea Diver would do. Love the warped vibrato on that one for sure.
You're right!!! Thanks so much. I love this pedal
nowdays more and more instruments are getting electric and electro-acoustic versions, a lot more players should fully embrace the world of processing their signal as guitarists are doing it since the 1950s, i'd love to hear these kind of sounds in a full band mix, and on stage!
Agreed 200% !!! You’ll see me on stage with my band one day after the pandemic!! Hahaha
@@emilyharpist do you have original music somewhere? are you up for collaborations? :p
@@Jacksabbath44 I have some on Spotify, and some here on CZcams on my original music playlist!! And an album in the works, slowly but surely. You literally JUST missed the deadline for my latest collaboration submission! I send out a harp stem and let people do whatever they want with it and I react to it on camera. Definitely keep your eyes open for next time!!!
Which song is it that you are playing at 9:40? It sounds lovely.
These are actually all improvisations! Thank you so much - I make them up on the spot! ☺️🎶
How many favorites can I have. I am so hooked.
❤️ ❤️ ❤️ 😊 thank you so much for being here!!
Great sounding pedal. I just can't abide that there are graphics instead of words on the knobs. I want to pick something up after not using it for a while and not have re-learn how to use it...
I have to ask...how many pedals do you own?? Your tone is beyond magnificent!!
Thank you so much!! At this point I’ve lost track but I think over 60... 😰💸
2:07 At first I thought you were going to play Clair de Lune
HAHHA YES I can hear it!! 😂
What technique is that at 4:38 ???
It’s called “petting the dog”
Definitely need to do a sample pack with this particular setup. Do some basic progressions with that lo-fi pitch warble, and I'd be shocked if it didn't grow legs.
It's on my list!!! Hopefully I can get to it sooner rather than later
@@emilyharpist I recommend you look into the basics of sample pack creation. I promise, you're talented and smart enough to play the harp like an absolute angel; this will be comparatively very easy. :)
@@frankjager1647 thanks!! I’m well versed in sample creation, I just haven’t given harp sample creation the time of day just because of my high project volume. Maybe soon!!
You should try this pedal on your harp with a strymon el capistan
Cool...the lo-fi modulator adds a rather Koto-esque vibe...the chorus almost has a glass harp effect
Good morning Emily
Fantastic as always and what is your dogs 🐕 name?
Good morning Linda! Hope you are well. My dogs name is Toby!
What's the first song your playing?
Actually what's the name of all the songs
Everything in the video is improvisation!
@@emilyharpist Sad that I can't listen to standalone versions but still happy it exists.
@@melvinmcdoogle515 you can!!! Go to emilyharpist.bandcamp.com/album/somersault
@@emilyharpist I was saddened by my assumptious mind but because of that the news that you indeed do have standalone versions makes that much more excellent.
Where do we hear your music?
I have some music on Spotify and other streaming services! Currently working on a new single now and a full album!
@@emilyharpist thank you
@@khalylehagood3222 no problem!! Thanks for listening ❤️
Which do you like better, this or the Walrus Julianna?
That’s tough!! The Julianna is amazing, but this pedal resonates with my playing style a lot more!
9:35 "Right, now this one requires spectacles and a change of clothes. Hold my harp."
HAHAHAH honestly your comments are always top-notch. Thanks for the laughs 😂
@@emilyharpist My pleasure. Quality content deserves quality commentary!
@@binface9 ❤️
Fantastic idea. Take a beautiful instrument, plug it into an expensive little box and fuck it up. I wonder why nobody thought of it sooner lol
😆 I guess not many people have the expensive instrument lying around!!! I’d love to see harp become more of an accessible instrument to be honest. But anyway thanks so so much Ken!!! ❤️
King Crimson vibes?
that beginning song has too much weeerrrr wwwweeeererererr
Lmao I feel that
But the whole pedal is weeerrrr wwwweeeererererr
I don't know but I feel like it's been a long time since the last video
I just found her channel earlier this week. There's so much to Discover!
It's only been three days!!! 😂 I was uploading every 1 or two for a while, that's probably why you feel that way!!!
❤
@@KlingonCaptain Yea i said the same
@@KlingonCaptain thanks so much! So glad you’re here :)
nice smile
Nice smile
Very nice, but I guess I'm old & old fashioned. I prefer good ole harp music, plain & unadorned. 🤣❤️😁
😂 To each their own!!! I do have plenty of harp music without effects pedals on my channel too! I hope that resonates with you more ❤
@@emilyharpist Yes, they do! And I DO still get enjoyment out of watching you play, no matter what! 😁❤️
Thank you so much ❤️ ❤️
@@emilyharpist ❤️☘️ Didja ever notice there's an emoji for everything under the sun, but no harp? 🤣
@@marieandresen4060 YES I was talking to somebody about that the other day!! Wild. There’s even an accordion emoji🪗 but NO HARP!!
Sounds like the harp was left out in the sun too long lol
LMFAO YOU’RE SO RIGHT 😂
