- These are some of the rhythms or lines I look for when observing the skull and I try to keep a skull reference handy for any time I'm working on the portrait. The skull is the foundation of the portrait so it's essential to understand its features if you're a figurative artist.

I happen to have a very similar, if not the same, skull that I use for reference, and I drew the lines you suggested. It’s way more useful now by leaps and bounds! And you’re right; as cheap and small as they are, they are very accurate and well built. I highly recommend them.
