This was easily one of those games I got excited over as a kid, tied to play it normally, got stuck on the first level, didn't know what to do or where to go, and decided "fuck it" and booted up the gameshark to have some fun.
I bought this game dirt cheap at a yard sale and I wasn't dissapointed. I think it's a really fun and creative game. You did a great job covering what it does well and its flaws.
I think one of the most fun discussions to have about this game is defending the pronunciation: MYUto as in MYUtation, it's so clever having the premise subtly in the title! It'd be a gross exaggeration to say this game didn't leave an impact. Anyone I talk to about Blinx ALWAYS mentions this game AND Voodoo Vince - not one or other, BOTH.
This is my favorite graphical art style for games by far - Cartoony with that slight realism filled with vibrant neon greens and colors while at the same time being dreary and depressing. Really sucks they couldn't have done something more with this though, on paper it sounds like the recipe for a perfect game. As a kid I always thought this was the spiritual successor to robotron 64, lol. Strangely my favorite part of this game is just exploring the doctor's house. Awesome video as usual! Cheers
Oh man, I loved this game as a kid. I remember some of the cutscenes showed bosses getting killed which I always thought was a bit weird for a game like this.
Seconded! Like Cal said, there's a lot of ideas and concepts in the game that could be very fun if expanded upon, with the rougher parts smoothed out. I'd be up for seeing the Doctor for a second exam, so to speak.
I remember I rented this from blockbuster and went to his attic where all the porn posters were and I swear I was gonna get in trouble lol. I could never finish it cause A. I rented it. And B. The controls and the game itself was hard for me at the time. But for some reason this game always stuck in my memories as a good time
Hey, ever Hurd of a game called Team buddies? It's not talked about all that much and most of the reviews I've seen are from 5-6 years ago, so maybe give it a look? Also, I've seen a unity remake being made, but again this was some time ago so who knows if it's still active now.
How hard is it? I want to get a non-Nintendo 3D platformer on the GameCube but also want to have a good time lol I don't have patience for rage fests (gave up on the idea of getting Vexx for that same reason).
It is one of the harder 3d platformers I’ve played. You only have three hit points and it is very easy to take damage. However there are a lot of checkpoints and health pickups and you have infinite lives. If you are really having a hard time you can use cheats.
Dr. Muto deserves a 2nd chance.

The 6th generation of consoles had a lot of cool platformers, like Dr. Muto, Vexx, and Sphinx to name a few.
