Back in Victorian England they had the Workhouse for people who couldn't afford to pay for housing and food. The inmates lived in the workhouse and laboured 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week in return for a bed and food. We may needed to bring back the workhouse, for the prols.

Just learned that Emts get paid 10$ per hour in some states and honestly that's incredibly sad given the level of skills / expertise needed to even enter the EMS sector of healthcare. Im wondering if there are any good jobs out there that pay decently and carry an energy of honor so that the employees aren't demeaned or embarrassed beyond all imagination when clocking in each day.

People will take it, sadly. Americans are too entertained by football, basketball and video games. And most Americans have given up on life anyway
They do this in the UK too. They try to make out that the average salary is 35-45k when in reality the vast majority of jobs are listed between 20-30k, just over minimum wage. Even if you have to manage a whole team it's often in that lower bracket. Who wants to manage a whole team of people for a couple of grand extra per year?
Obviously it’s unlikely, but have you thought about asking the executives for a raise? How do you think they would react?
And $36/hr is probably the median between the two classes that currently exist; the filthy rich and the dirt poor.
I would never talk to them about pay, they are the ones deciding that the workers are not worth investing in

The most incredible thing to me about most billionaires is that despite having enough money to envelop in the top level of luxury available on Earth until the end of time them and everyone they ever spawn, ad infinitum, while, at the same time, having just a paltry few decades, if that, left to live, they spend most of their time trying to solve this one specific problem: how do I make even more money? The word “greed” is a downright insult to the level of desire that these people have for more money.
for some of these people, the strain of the job is so hard on their body, they realize they cannot keep up the 100 hour work weeks for more than 10 years. My current boss is starting to have heart problems, cannot remember anything, and is total space cadet. All the management teams goes through this phase, the just burn out with severe health issues after a very short time. This job has gone through 9 mangers in 7 years.
Back in the early 1950s. I was newly married and just landed my first job in animation. Btw most everyone, like today, was broke and poor. We just didn’t know it nor did we have any recourse. There was no minimum wage back in those days. My boss (director) was a demanding, boisterous downright rude fellow. I shared an office at the time with the kindest quiet single gentleman who drew props. One day the director came in and asked me where my office mate was. I said he went to the men’s room. He then went over to his desk wrote out a note and put a pile of thumb tacks we used for storyboards all over his chair. He stormed off in a huff. When my office mate returned. He was aghast at what the director wrote. He said. ‘Never leave this desk, or you will know what pain feels like by being thrown out to the street never to work in this industry again. The poor guy was shaken up for weeks after that. It was a different world back in those days. Most of us never complained because we were too busy just trying to make a living and most of us lived life for our families, not for ourselves. People today have no idea how good they have it imo. I wish you well.

My relatives back in their days were in camps and made to work for the guards. They worked so hard. The guards were just following orders.
