You offer such a rational and reasonable approach to typology compared to the average “personality guru” out for the clicks and clout, and I’m here for it, lol.

Hello Chris 👋 greetings from Morocco 🇲🇦 .
for many years I've been mistyped by online tests into INFP and even INFJ, however I only found my type using Cognitive Functions and reflecting on my own behaviors and patterns throughout the years, cognitive functions made me discover myself in a deeper way.

Great point, it is a good idea to keep the door open for your type being something else. Sometimes large self discoveries can hit us with big changes or events in life. Thanks for watching!

Actually putting things into practice is how I became confident enough in my type to forget about it and quit worrying over it 😂 when I said "hmm, if I'm this type then I'm unhealthy - and boy ever am I unhealthy right now - lemme try the stuff that would help...." and it did. 😎

I mean the professional typing helped too, but even then I had uncertainty until I put stuff into practice for a while.

Also, if you're not going to make changes to improve yourself or your life, then what would even be the point of typing yourself?

Self improvement was the reason I got into typology to begin with

Yes, like you said, I became sure about my type through comparing the types with each other. You understand things often in relation to other things and in that sense even learning about completely different types can help you discover what is actually unusual and therefor defining about your type. Because we tend to take our personalities for granted as if everyone would think and feel like us and thus don't really see ourselves because there is no differing background to contrast ourselves against. But when we observe that there are in fact people who function very differently and have reversed priorities, we start to grasp what we actually are.

I bought Gifts Differing upon your request.
I was reading the type descriptions for the Ne doms.
I wonder why ENTP was described as impersonal in their relations to people. Being tertiary Fe users, I would think of the ENTP as the most personal and outwardly friendly of the NT types, with the Ne-Fe making for a more personal person than even the ENFP with their auxiliary Fi.

I'm hoping to find my type because I want to do a better job of working with myself. I got into MBTI assuming I was an INFP or ENFP. For a while I've been feeling like those types aren't quite right and I don't have any super "logical" reasons why. Either way, I think people assume I'm an INFP and end up treating me like one. Even though people obviously aren't thinking about MBTI 24/7, people obviously categorize each other.
So if they see me doing one "INFP" thing, they assume I have a million other "INFP" traits I don't have. One example is me living an "unconventional" lifestyle. I've been forced to due to circumstances, but it could also look like me "following my heart" or being authentic. I also get a bunch of generic advice like breaking tasks down. When I look up how to improve inferior Te, I see the same sorts of advice I haven't been able to successfully apply.
So even if I am actually an INFP, I sure haven't found any advice for INFPs helpful. I might have to look elsewhere. Either way it explains why people keep on responding to me in the same frustrating ways over and over. So at least it's helpful knowing I come across like an INFP and I can find ways to avoid coming across like one when I know it will work against me.

Sorry if I've already asked about this and forgotten. I love how Jung originated the types idea as a way to guide future Analysts to better communicate with their patients, and I would love to hear your thoughts on using the MBTI as a communication tool, within types and across them. I see it as an analogue to the step of actually trying it out to see how it plays. That was a great reminder. Thanks for the video.

I’m still not one hundred percent sure, but I still suspect that I am an ISFP. According to the tests, I received either INFJ or INTJ. Both INTJ and ISFP are similar in the first and second functions.
    intj: Ni Te/fi se
    isfp: Fi Se/ni te

Thanks for the video. I don't much participate in online typing communities because I do feel that some members and even some experts who charge for typing sessions are biased. I am positive about being an i_fj, because my level of introversion and use of extraverted feeling (myers-briggs definition) are obvious. I will figure the rest in my own time.

Great stuff, but for efficiency's sake, is the test at 16personalities accurate enough? I score greater than 80% in all four of the categories for INTJ. I have INFP, INFJ, ENTJ and INTP friends. After reviewing their cognitive functions, i find myself relating to INTJ the most. Right down to the death stare, having a plan for nearly everything, and having little tolerance for chaos.

16p is a decent big 5 test, it isn't an MBTI test at all, regardless of how they market it.

    • @AsuraPsych
      @AsuraPsych  Před 2 měsíci +5

The other commenter here is correct, 16P is a Big 5 test in disguise. It is good at what it does, but isn't an MBTI test.

Well let’s see. MBTI I’m INFP (professional typing). In OP I’m ENFP. In socionics I’m INFJ (professional typing). In 4 sides/csJ I’m ENFP UDUF. In CPT I’m INFP (professional typing).
