Really enjoyed seeing Jesse’s truck improvements.
Thanks Walt. I will let him know!
The every day reality of this video is refreshing. A lot of us have no idea what it takes to keep the truck on the road.
Neither did I LOL. An F150 seems Mickey Mouse after watching this LOL
Looks like Jesse has to be a jack of all trades to keep that truck going. He’s very knowledgeable and talented and Yes keep us updated on Jesse and his truck because we’re pulling for him.
Will do Mark! thanks for the comment
It's always nice to see a build on a truck all the fabrication involved
I agree. This is a lot of fun to watch!
Good to see Jessie making progress on the truck . I drove Macks for many years and I can tell they are tough SOB's but they ride like a rock and that Superliner is just a DM with longer hood to facilitate a bigger engine you can still open Passenger door from drivers seat without taking off belts and the Gear shift is loated under passenger seat .
Yes would like to see more of Jesse the log hauler go Jesse
You got it Mike!
Definately keep showing Log Hauler Jessie's progress on the rebuild.
Will do Mike!
Excellent vid Joe and Jesse.
Really enjoyed Jesse’s commentary on the mechanical side of the log truck.
Looking forward to the next part of the story 👌
I like Jesse's shop, nice and big and a lotta tools. Glad to see your finally able to use the back 40. -Dave
I would love to have that shop on my land!
My husband worked for International Harvestor for 30 years in Springfield, Ohio!!!!
That is awesome Mary! Great company
Yes, more log hauler Jesse. I love your video's, Thanks Joe.
You got it Mark!
I was an O/O for many years for the same reason I dont like taking orders plus I liked choosing where I went but if you have a good reputation customers call wanting you to haul their freight. it does get costly keeping your equipment up, you work all week making money then work all weekend doing repairs so you can make money the next week. Looks like Jessi is not only a skilled driver but and good mechanic, welder, machinist, Im sure i missed a few more trades, Good Job
I have seen him in action. He is like McGyver. LOL.
Great insight to two self employed people. Jesse was right about others driving or using someone else's equipment. Owner/Operators are a different breed of people. Thanks for this video. Have a Safe Day
Well said Dave!
Wow! What great use of rainy week. Thanks for illuminating an industry that is opaque to us city folks.
Jesse, you're added to my prayer list. It is so generous of you to let us viewers get to know you.
Joe, a drone survey of your production yard would be great.
i will add that to the list Chip!
Jesse is a very talented and hard working guy!
Indeed he is!
Very interested in Jessie's project, there is a world of difference between his truck and what we use here on the west coast. Keep up the good work Joe, thumbs up,
Awesome Tom! Thanks for watching and commenting
That’s going to be a great truck. Best of luck to him getting it together! 👍🏼
Yes sir !! Keep them trucks coming in. Looks like a beautiful day there
I had three different days filming this one. Ran the gamut of weather for us LOL
Thanks Joe for the link to the place to buy stretch wrap. I bought some green 5 inch because I wrap my bundles by hand. Saved me $4 per roll!
Sure thing Buddy!
Oh man. Thats a lot of work. Jessie hoping for safe and speedy build. Congratulations Joe on your first load of logs in the new yard!
Thanks Zeke!
Great video. As a former truck driver, I really appreciate Jesse's hard work and determination. I am looking forward to seeing some videos of Jesse's log truck build and your new wood yard. Wouldn't mind seeing more Dolmar action. I have a 7900, myself, and feel that it is the best saw ever.
I will try to give you all of those Joe!
Very interesting video this morning. Thanks for increasing the library of information you deliver.
My pleasure Mike! I feel like I'm along for the ride like you! This is a cool series w the log truck!
Thanks Joe, can’t wait to see the new log hauler come together.
I hope I can bring all of it to you Capt Ken
@@ohiowoodburner I have a good dump trailer hack to keep battery charged, if you have a minute to talk about it.
Joe- Nice to see you starting work on the new yard. I’m starting work on my new work/ wood yard. I liked seeing Jessie’s new build in progress.
Thanks Rich. I hope to bring you all the progress!
Good video. Would love to see more of the truck build. Going to be a sweet ride when Jesse is done.
More to come!
Very interesting. Log hauler Jesse is a very knowledgeable fantastic welder, mechanic, owner/driver. Wow. I wish him well on getting back on the road soon. Thanks for including him in your channel. Elaine from Canada here, fascinated by all the different things that make the world go ‘round. All the best to you.
Thanks Elaine!
Joe great video!! Jesse must save a boat load of money being able to do all the work himself. Keep us updated on the progress of his new truck. Have a great day.
Lendy! where have you been?? Nice to hear from you buddy!
Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. Just back from Donegal so am catching up on videos. I have a Jesse character down there that does incredible engineering projects and it's always a treat to visit his shop to inspect his latest work. Looking forward to the next episode.
You got it big Rodders!!
Can’t wait to see the finished truck! Love seeing his progress.
You and me both!
Thats a hell of a project! Way more then I'd ever want to get into. Took me 2 days just to get my leaf springs changed out on my dump trailer
Took me two weeks to change my oil! LOL
Loved the video.... I enjoy watching and discussion of the mechanical side of the rebuild. Great job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Jesse is one hard working Guy
Indeed he is Paul!
Great video Joe. It’s awesome that you show all aspects of the business not just yours.
Thanks Harold. !!
Great Video Joe it was very interesting, Hopefully Jesse gets his truck on the road soon. Jesse knows his equipment and knows what it takes to keep the wheels turning.
He is a very resourceful person for sure Gregg. Cool avatar btw!
@@ohiowoodburner Thats from spending 10yrs in the Navy
Yes when he puts the rear stuff you need to be over..
Yiur back40 is looking great too..
Thanks Dan. As long as our schedules mesh I will be there!
Great to see progress moving in the right direction for Joe and Jessie. Love your work shop Jessie 👍.
I wish I had something like that!
@@ohiowoodburner A new shop would look good in the back forty. Better keep working😉.
Chop chop time is money lol. That was cool to watch can’t wait to see what it looks like when that’s done.
Same here Frank. I hope to get some good footage
Very cool Joe! Looking forward to seeing the progress!
You and me both!
Very nice looking truck, will be great to see it coming into your yard full of logs!
Totally agree Gage!
Joe, Jesse can always leave that old truck at your place to load the live deck on the Japa.
LOL That would be cool. Except there won't be a crane on it when he is done.
Joe, Another excellent, informative Video. Good Luck Jessie.
Thanks Jim!
Joe hi, well done, your friend is also not standing still, like you, well done guys 👍
Спасибо, Виктор. Я надеюсь скоро пришлю тебе рубашку
@@ohiowoodburner 😁👍
It's good to see a hard working guy like Jesse making moves to improve his business and make life better for himself. Love the build and look forward to seeing it through. 👍
I hope I can bring it all Bob!
Really cool video today! I’ve never seen a logging truck up close! Really very interesting!
Glad you enjoyed Dan!
nice truck!! look forward to more updates on the build. Great video!
I have completed the series of the truck build. Check out my channel for the playlist. His truck looks great!
Pete very good interesting video best of luck to log hauler Jessie
Thanks Mike!
This was great, would love updates on the log truck!
You got it!
Great video Joe really enjoyed theupdate on the new truck build by Jesse.
Sure thing Josh.... Thanks for watching!
Good video and looking forward to seeing the bunk and crane attached and of course Jessie back on the road.
I hope I can bring it to you Chuck. Thanks for commenting!
Can’t wait to see the truck in production. Great job Jessie!
All three of us!! LOL
nice to see your new wood yard
Thanks Joe!
Love the video Joe and I am sure Jessie is looking forward to getting back on the road and making a living. BTW Joe my harvest season here in southeastern Indiana is done for 2021 and as far as production goes I and everyone else in southern Indiana had a good year. The problem now is the grain market is down and I have all of my grain in storage waiting for a better market. Just to educate anyone that don't know farmers are the only people who are punished for being more productive, when everyone in farming has had a productive year prices fall.
There has long been a boom and bust nature to the harvest. Thanks for sharing!
Logging is the other industry where you don't tell them how much you want for your product. They tell you what they are going to pay you. If it's a good year for logging and the mill yards are full. The price is always low. If it's a bad year and the yards are empty, then you might have a little bargaining power.
Hi Joe!!😀😀
Cool to see you are starting to move the yard to the back 40 . Hopefully it doesn't get too wet now that you have started piling wood back there. Is the load you got from a new supplier?
Hopefully Jesse will get the new truck together in the next couple weeks!! I would like to see the loader getting switched over when he does it.
Things are looking up for both of you guys!!
Take care and keep up the great work!!😀😀👍👍❤
Logger Al
Thanks Al. That load is a different company. They were my first company I dealt with before I met Jesse. Very nice people
@@ohiowoodburner Good to hear!!😀😀 It certainly is just about perfect wood for the 365 .
Great to see you are expanding to your Back40🤔 kind of like the sound of the that Back40😂 you guys are the best keep up the great video’s
LOL I came up with that term John! LOL
@@ohiowoodburner Joe, I hate to break it to you but the "back forty" has been part of my vocabulary since 1960 and it applies to any back area from one acre to over a hundred acres. Just normally used when an area is remote enough to not get much use for one reason or another. I think it got to me from a grandpa who likely used it since before the roaring twenties. That seems to be where I first heard it if my memory is not playing tricks. Still never learned why the saying is "forty" as in forty acres, but it is a very old saying. I suspect it was from the days of one hundred and sixty acre Homesteading Plots when to took a while to get developed all the way to the back areas as most started near the road and worked their way back deeper over time. Just a little useless trivia if anyone cares.
I'd love to watch Jesse's rebuild.
I hope to bring you more PJ
loved the video. Can't wait to see part Deux.
Coming soon!
Very interesting! Don’t envy Jesse at all! Hard life as an owner/driver! I think his work is a ‘passion,’ which creates the determination to get him through! Nice to see you guys supporting each other! Would love to follow Jesse’s progress with the new build! Cheers Len (Devon - UK)
Thanks Len. I hope to bring you more. As long as our schedules mesh I will be there.
Awesome! 🇺🇸
Yes it is Mike!
Very cool video, not a cut, split, rinse, repeat.
Sure does add a new topic of interest for sure!
Hi joe. Once again, a great video. It’s really going to be cool to see this thing come together.
Fingers crossed!
Great video Joe! Good luck Jesse
Thanks Don!
Good stuff
Thanks guys!
Great plan to get the woodyard away from the house👍🏼 Jesse has a load of work to do🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Thanks Larry!
When I first saw the truck I was hoping for Jessi that it was an ISX 15, and it is, the best performance for Jessi would probably setting the H.P. Calibration is 550 HP 2050 ft lbs of torque. That truck should make his life a lot easier. Cheers
I will let him know your comment Gerry. I'm pretty sure he reads them too. Joe
I hope that you have a plan for when the mats fail.
I remember when a two-axle truck was a big truck. Jesse has six. That is a lot.
No plan yet Jake. My goal right now is to make the house payment.
@@ohiowoodburner The mats are buying you time but that is not infinate. Time to start looking at a water management master plan and then busting it into bite size pieces that you can afford. If you have drainage ditches anywhere near that some simple drain tiles like farmers use would do wonders for drying out that area such that once those mats fail you can slowly dig them out with the top soil and bring in crushed concrete and gravel. Just from the videos it looks like you could sell that top soil to offset some of the costs with the way that grows stuff out there. Just a question of how deep that top soil is. Once again I will mention that if you check with local colleges, you can often get very cheap or free planning as they need real life projects for their degree programs in civil engineering and/or agriculture degrees involving field drainage. Just a thought. Better to be ahead of the need with a plan in place than to be behind the eight ball when it jumps up and bites you. Things to get done on those rainy days.
OWB.
By defining a problem a solution may emerge. The problem is excess water.
Is better surface drainage needed? That would be better slope or reduced water infiltration rate into the soil. Earth moving equipment would be needed to change the slope. Compacting the soil with a large sheepsfoot roller would reduce water infiltration. Freezing can undo some of the compaction. Compaction is no substitute for lack of slope.
Buried drain tiles could be used for a low spot where the surface drainage water collects or you could dig a pit and have a pond. An excavator is best for digging a pit. A dozer can do it. Ponds are good for wildlife, livestock, irrigation, survival water supply and fire truck refill. Subsurface drains are not a substitute for slope. A ditch would be a more reliable substitute for a subsurface drain.
A local farmer would probably be familiar with the soil and climate you have and how to do what you want if he looked at it.
Is all of the water coming from the sky or is it moving in on the surface or subsurface from adjacent areas? A determination would need to be made about that and how to stop it.
The final phase is paving material. Due to the cost, I would advise letting experience show you where and how much is needed. Fix the paving problems as they develop. I do not know whether it is needed. Paving will ruin the ground for agricultural purposes.
Grass can keep you out of the mud until you drive on it so much that it dies.
The main thing is slope. Slope is cutting and filling. Use the cut-off for fill. Survey equipment may be needed for measuring slope.
I am just giving you some basic ideas to help you get started.
@@ohiowoodburner You could make the ground wavy or push up islands and stay out of the low spots.
Great video. Looking forward to seeing progress on Jesse’s “new to him!” Truck as well as the progress on the back 40. I hope that eventually you move from the short term fix for the water problems to a more permanent solution. As you continue to grow and invest in the business
I see that happening if I continue on this path. For now I'm trying to keep my expenses low!
As an owner-operator you have to wear a lot of hats. Jesse is definitely doing just that.
I was wondering if he is a member of OOIDA (Owner Operators Independent Drivers Association). If not, they are having a reduced price membership sign up Nov. 8-14.
All the best to Jesse with the newer truck. Keep us posted on his progress.
I will ask him John. Thanks for the heads up
Now that the loader will be at the back of the truck Jesse could add a pup to the back and haul you in doubles!!! Or is that something they do down there here in Ontario Canada we all run doubles. More cost effective and for us firewood suppliers we get more wood quicker
I don't think he will run a trailer. He said around here it is too difficult to get in and out of places.
@@ohiowoodburner makes sense !! I had to widen the driveway to get them in and have to plow quite the turn around in the winter for them lol
14:10 - it's not just trucks. I once got so fed up with the underpowered POS panel van I was given to drive, I ran it up to 80mph before promptly smashing it down into 2nd, in a successful attempt to overrun the rev limiter and blow the head up to get myself a new set of wheels. Not proud of it, but makes for a great war story...😂👍🇦🇺
LOL... I think we all have had our moments!
Jesse jesse if he can't do it no one can😁🤘🤙. Only bummer of a end loader, your poles will be shorter.
Probably. I had noticed that before.
This was really cool video i like at love your video buddy good jop on your video buddy 🔥
Glad you enjoyed it TC
Good luck Jessie ....... 100 %
I'll let him know!
I love your video what kind of camera do you use it does a great job thank you
Woodyard is looking good Joe
Thanks L2!
👍
Thanks RG33
👍👍
Thanks tom!
My son has his own semi has dump trailer flow boy and chip trailer always working on something
Lets watch the build.
I hope to get some good footage!
I was going to say, is that a bright Blue sky that I see. Is something wrong with your weather.?
LOL... we had a huge rain week last week. Nice to see the blue sky now!
Have you tried vegetable cooking oil for chain oil? Not toxic for the smoking wood and it works just fine
I've been thinking about it Mike. I may make the change here one day
When you mount the crane in back on the far end of bunks, how can you haul the longer trees ? Seems like you kind of limit yourself on length when you configure it that way?
I think the rear crane does limit your length but I also think there is a limit to how much overhang a truck can have. Not sure what that is but I will ask Jesse and try to get an answer.
But the crane at the back allows you to pull a trailer behind the truck. Mounted on the front you have no way of unloading.
How much spade do you have to work with looks like if you keep growing you will have to get a full time worker lol glad to see you growing
I have a large area but you never know. I'm on uncharted territory right now!
@@ohiowoodburner this is a good problem to have keep it going lol
Joe is that area you are planning to use as a log yard always wet? Is there a ditch or similar that could take the water away?
It seems to me for that to be fully developed for this purpose that some prior significant drainage work is required because otherwise it seems to me even with all the waste wood (sawdust bark etc) will just become like wet blotting paper and simply hold water especially as the mats rot and breakdown and the area realistically only be a summer work area rather than all year round.
Jesse has a major task on hand with that truck conversion and I cannot imagine quite how he will move the legs, turntable and boom off the Mack and onto the International. Time will tell though of course. Good luck to him though and I hope it goes well.
Hi Dan. The back 40 is very dry area. The area between my pavement and the back 40 is super duper wet and low. The timbers were to just get us there but after we saw the utility the mats have we decided to mat the whole area...certainly I would kick up the mud without them. Jesse is getting a large excavator to move the crane from one truck to the other.
Good video, I feel bad for Jessie, the time and money to do that
Agree. I hope he gets it done soon!
With a rear loader is he going to get a pup trailer also?
He is not going to use a trailer. He said around these parts of Ohio there are too many tough situations to get pulled into, out of, for a trailer.
@@ohiowoodburner funny how different areas are.....in MN very few run straight trucks
Not sure if I missed it. Is Jesse building a Michican timber train with a pup trailer?
This is a Michigan style hauler but there will not be a trailer
@@ohiowoodburner pup would give him 20-25' more deck space.
.
Would gravel be cheaper then mats?
For me, no. We are getting the mats for free.
@@ohiowoodburner lucky lucky!

I'm actually in Jefferson. Love the string of dry weather. Fired up the Hardy H4 for first time Monday. Letting it burn out today for the warm stretch.
At least it isn’t a b-train he’s backing out of there
