@@DarkAlan Some might call it blasphemy but I would add Till Lindemann. For me the only one you can not replace is Barlow. I can not listen to Iced Earth songs without Barlow.
@@Broodkast8 Till is one ofe the best frontman ever, but as a singer he is not even in first 50's. You can't put him in the same line as Dio, Dickinson, Halford, Barlow, Tim Owens, even Corey Taylor, Jonathan Davies, or Stu Block (tbh he is great metal singer) . But is not what his music is about and on his own ground he is one of the best.
You would think that a woman almost 60 years old wouldn't want to listen to this kind of music....but I'm a rocker through and through. I own every one of these guys CD's and will continue to rock my life away.

Fucking love Barlow's epic tones/range. Combined with the instruments, and lyrical content, Iced Earth has made it to my second favorite band of all time.
ICED EARTH Is a bad ass band I am 65 yrs old You don't need to be a certain age to listen to music And enjoy it!! Rock on ICED EARTH!! Dorthy Colorado Springs
the emotional part would be Barlow the "crazy part" 5:30 - 6:25 would be Ripper only (i love his voice in this part sooo demonic) and the rest is a mix of all
Take this sense of wonder Make it go away Please tell me I am not alone and lost here That there is something that's made me feel this way Take this sense of sadness Make it go away Please give me something that's familiar A friendly touch, a memorable embrace
I could not agree to those who say, one of these singers is better than the other. I love Ripper's crispyness and strength and aggressivity. A also love Barlow's roundness and deepness. I think these names are to be remember and will surely be for many years to come. They are two of the greatest singers in heavy metal history.
when i hear matts voice something grabs me it has something special , love way he sings slow or hard songs it has something i cant explane im sure if you like matts vocie you know what i mean. long live matt:)
I miss Matt so much! No offense to Stu, as I think he's a great singer in his own right but Matt Barlow IS the voice of Iced Earth! It's as synonymous as Bruce Dickinson with Iron Maiden or Paul Stanley with KISS. It's just hard for me to hear anyone else singing Iced Earth tunes but Matt.
Adam Tadeo it's hard to compare Tim and Matt as their styles are so different. Framing Armageddon was Tim's high point during his IE tenure though. He crushed it on that album💪
+Hercules Radler To be honest, I'm glad he left the second time. I hate to see the guy doing something his heart's not into and Stu's taken up the mantle better than Tim did... I just wish Stu would cut out the use of pre-Barlow style...
Yeah, so true...I love matt barlow and his voice was always there when I got into iced earth but when tim "the ripper" Owen's joined I was so siked(after I got over matt being gone...never did but he made a choice and I respect that)I loved framing armageddon and time's voice was as good as it ever was on this album. I hate that he is always thrown aside when the original singer comes back smh...he is also great.
The range of Matt's voice blows me away more than the awesome high pitched vocals of Tim's honestly. Though I love both but Matt is definitelty the most fitting and always will be.
Matt is my favourite singer but I am happy with Stu being the new singer for Iced Earth! Matt will always have his place with Iced Earth but I am also liking his new work in Ashes of Ares!
When I look at the something wicked saga from a story perspective and how to apply it to real world events I always think of people with disabilities and how they were shunned and seperated from society back in ancient times. I myself have a disability so, I can relate to the whole concept of seperation and how this song could be looked at from that perspective. I could go on and on about my theory as it relates to the Something Wicked Saga and the history of disability. I would like to hear Stu do this in the studio. It would be killer.
John is true master. He can make masterpiece with anyone behind the mic! Matt voice was best for IE, but I love Stu, he is phenomenal. And John is still on top of metal scene with Iced Earth... cant wait for new Demons And Wizards and after new IE
Both Matt Barlow and Tim Owens are great vocalists, but Matt is the true voice of Iced Earth and he always will be. Owens did well in his place for a couple of Albums; I still keep a copy of Glorious Burden wrapped in plastic, being on of my favorites, but I have every other album done by Barlow and the guy before him. Frankly, Barlow is just impossible to equal, and his voice goes very well with the music played by Iced Earth. Though honestly, he did well for Pyramaze too XD
I like Matt Barlow the most as the singer. My kids love Iced Earth (6,3) and sometimes chant Barlow. Barlow. Barlow. They like Ashes of Ares teaser song. I think Stu is doing a great job himself. If you haven't heard his other band, check out Into Eternity. Many different vocal ranges. Others may have a different opion but this is mine.
awesome song. I've always felt abit of a FFVII vibe from it with the music, like around the slums of Midgar or something like that. Or the first part does anyway before it shifts into the heavier gear
I think when Jon wrote this song he still had Matt in mind for the vocals, though Ripper's version is pretty solid to it showed that his low end was maturing.
I like how the instruments sound the same. I have heard a number of songs redone in the studio, whether it be with a new singer or the same one, where they change the sound of the instruments to try and make it sound better. I just think its neat that they kept them the same.
As I awake I have no memory of this Who I am, where I'm from, why do I exist? This strange beauty surrounds me But where I am confounds me I see others who appear the same as me A look of loss in their eyes, adrift aimlessly What's the point? What does it all mean? Who am I? Show me a purpose please
Barlow is forever gonna be a legend of iced earth but its a treat we got him to do this song and in my opinion the so called The ripper sucked and I am proud now of the route iced earth had taken with stu give the man props he can do a vocal range of Matt and gene two of the ie greats

No matter what happened to Jon, Iced Earth is still within the top 3 in my Metalhead Book😎
This song with The Ripper is amazing, but with Barlow, man, he takes to another level, its one of the best songs from Iced Earth. His voice is unique.
This song proves Matt Barlow is the greatest of all time.
This song saved my life once ......I will never forget

Who's first? Just curious.
For me, it's Metallica, then Iced Earth.
Robert Mickey it's all coordinated by Schaefer
The best metal voice ever!
I agree!! Right up there with Ronnie James Dio.
+Anastasia Sandman - I'm in total agreement
I would say that it is up there, but perhaps not on the same level as Dio.
Ripper's original still better..
Anastasia I agree. As much as I love singers like Dio and Halford, Barlow takes it to a whole new level!
ICED EARTH

Yes dude absolutely right! Greetings From Turkey 🤟🤟🤟
Matt Barlow the best vocal of all time
My precious song forever... everytime I'm crying while listening to this masterpiece... My song that's guiding me in life everyday. My story...
This is so beautiful, only Matt could provide the depth required to make it complete.
Imagine iced earth re-recorded this song with 3 singers Barlow, stu, and ripper. How brutal that would be?
that would be epic
the emotional part would be Barlow the "crazy part" 5:30 - 6:25 would be Ripper only (i love his voice in this part sooo demonic) and the rest is a mix of all
in all honesty I dont like Stu's voice on the mix but Barlow and Ripper would be so cool
A most interesting suggestion Mr. Wizard! I wonder what Jon and the boys would make of it
All 3 should do it togather in a epic all metal harmony. It would be epic to the point I just cummed my pants.
I could listen to this song all day. Iced Earth is definately one of my favorite bands.
Take this sense of wonder
Make it go away
Please tell me I am not alone and lost here
That there is something that's made me feel this way
Take this sense of sadness
Make it go away
Please give me something that's familiar
A friendly touch, a memorable embrace
matt barlow is the best ever! * dislikes are absolutely ignorant to good music!
the instrumental part in the beginning is something i could listen to on repeat forever
'show me a purpose pleeeeaaaassee....' wow that part is just so godly, its perfect
It's very rare that I hear a re-recording of a song I loved done better than the original, but this is absolutely special. Brilliant job.
Awesome song. Why does it have to be better than one another? They both are amazing at what they do.
Such a great song.
I love Matt Barlow's voice!!!!!
I don't, ripper owens is much better, can't even compare
I could not agree to those who say, one of these singers is better than the other. I love Ripper's crispyness and strength and aggressivity. A also love Barlow's roundness and deepness. Barlow is so good
Matt Barlow is goodlike for me.... I Love his Voice
I just have to say that I love Barlow and am also a huge fan of Tim Owens!!!
great song ... i miss Matt Barlow
Matt and Hansi in one band .... what an Awesome Idea !
I just love how the song devellops and especially each and every second of it after 5:25. So epic!
Best song of Iced Earth ever!!
Magic voice matt

Iced Earth forever........

That ending riff makes me wanna throw my head through the wall... In a good way.
He has such a great voice whether he's doing a song like Pure Evil or a metal ballad like this, he can do it all.
The heavy part in this song is so fucking wicked, my mind is literally blown every time I hear it.
barlow is the golden voice of Iced Earth
Barlow gave a different and unique style to the band!!! Great band and great vocals from Matthew!!! too bad he left them!

Barlow's work with Pyramaze during that break was PHENOMENAL though, much better than his second tenure with Iced Earth.
i LOVE both versions of this song. the one on the album AND Barlow's version the same
