A great episode. I hope one day Niall Ferguson is a guest on the podcast. It would be great to see Evan get in to a discussion with him about the state of the US and the West. Also for anyone interested in philosophy have a look at Alexis De Tocqueville, his writings on the democracy in the US back in the 1800’s is superb.

Apprenticeships for certain white collar jobs, such as engineering, would be really nice.
Do you mean an apprenticeship as a means to bypass getting the degree? Plenty of internship opportunities in the engineering field, but i’d imagine there are very few companies willing to bring someone in as an engineer/apprentice without understanding the math and science fundamentals or in the process of learning those fundamentals
@@abrigman Yeah, I hear you. I'm in engineering school currently and previously worked as a technician at an engineering firm doing R&D work. I feel like it would be better if I could do my classroom learning and not be completely removed from industry. I think engineering students miss a lot by not being engaged in practical work while learning the basics, and it often shows when they get to the work force. If I could work alongside engineers as some sort of enhanced technician as I made my way through school, that would be amazing. Just my perspective though.

"Fall of Civilizations" is a great YT rabbit hole. The best part, aside from the historical content, is the voice actors that read all of the ancient historical accounts and diplomatic text in the manner of a Victorian Era East India Company executive.

Great podcast. Evan, I get your hesitations on religion. Keep In mind though my friend, just because there are different understandings of the Bible, and different denominations, does not mean that there isn’t 1 correct and true understanding of who Jesus is. For example, the reality that counterfeit money exists - does not negate the fact that true currency exists. In fact, it is only because of the fact that true currency exists that we can determine what counterfeit currency actually is. Keep up the good work.

My only problem is the talk about self reliance when they pay others to work on there emp proof buyout cars like “what happens when you blow a head gasket 500 miles from home and you can’t find one or a shop to fix it for you ?” Talking about bugging out and surviving but lacking basic mechanical skills to service your equipment is gonna get you in more trouble than if you stayed home
Mike has been talking a lot in the past year or so about learning mechanical skills and being able to do roadside repairs on your own. I believe he said he's been taking courses to be more proficient
oh thats good then, Mechanical knowledge is a skill that most people had in some form or the ability and willingness to learn or figure out the solution to the mechanical fix. TBH ive been out of the loop on Mike Glover for a min but it does make me happy to know he is taking it seriously and not just for show when it comes to a rig. alot of people build "bug out rigs" and havent considered the little details in there builds.@@butteredtaters3554
