Ed, Edd n Eddy, but it's only Ed being a Smart Guy for 8 minutes

- Despite from his less intelligence, idiocy & clumsiness, Ed still uses his smartness in some situations he's having with Edd (Double D) and Eddy. I have to find some clips if I can. I broke my phone because the display's dead and fried. We need to buy a 2nd hand phone with modern ones.

Being a dumbass, you still have intelligence sometimes.
02/02/24: It's weird some of my EENE still getting decent amount of views linearly, but it's okay, I don't mind.
To me when I was little, I think that this was a little funny to me😂
Yup
There is a theory he has ADHD.
He reminds me Patrick star
Ed, Edd, N Eddy do have a bit of a Cult Following, yes.
You missed the best one:
"Spending an extended time in female company can be mentally disorientating and physically confusing."

What’s up with you?
@@lewisbarnett6882that's a genuine line from the show
@@andrewwhyte7130and "what's up with you?" Is what Eddy said in response to Ed saying that
You replied to someone quoting the scene by explaining its its from the show they quoted.
@@lewisbarnett6882sad fewer people didnt seem to know the scene.
I actually don't believe Ed is dumb. He simply thinks differently to everyone else. Ed is more creative, imaginative and thinks outside of conventional thought. Unlike Double D who's more book smart. He's the type of guy to see a complex problem and come up with a solution no-one else would think of, like with the treasure map. And it's not like Ed is illiterate. He reads comic books that contain big words. Besides Chicks Galore, he doesn't just look at dirty magazines like Eddy.
Since I saw these moments explained on Ed's TV Tropes Page, I started compiling them but there's still a lot of moments I've missed and I'm planning to make a sequel soon.
Also on Cleanliness Is Next To Edness, Eddy tapes a magazine called "Jiggy Jiggy" on his window on Ed's face and I noticed he smiles what he's sees. I think it's a girl doing a yoga lol.
So Ed's not stupid, he's just autistic?
@@OmegaChase1002I don't know, but still finding the context to his idiocy and clumsiness.
@@KennyFromPH07autism isnt the same as idiocy
@@OmegaChase1002 To be honest, I'm borned with Global Developmental Delay with a small traits of Autism.
I can sense some of its traits from Ed's actions sometimes, I don't know where to begin.
Technically Ed did exactly what Edd asked. Solve the maze in the shortest amount of time. That's it, he never said anything about going through it.
Actually, he did still go through it. Just in the most literal way possible if you think about it.
If Double D would be more specific and make Ed understand to his level then Ed would have crossed the maze or put little bait that something Ed likes and if he would have followed it with his other senses besides intelligence regardless then he would have got through the maze no pro blame o. Because other senses like touch, taste, smell, hearing, and sight are the key elements when it comes time for intelligence. You don't have to be book smarts to gain smarts. You just got to know how to use other resources to get what you need to get through in life.
Shortest distance between any 2 points is a straight line; I say Ed excelled at the given task since he did get thru the maze as quickly as possible (w/o cheating and going around it) lol
@@tiablue9106 exactly
That’s just an example of lateral thinking
Ed is honestly best character. It's hard to not like him!!! He's just so lovable
Dumb as bricks, but absurdly strong and extremely kind, with moments of brilliance
He's lovable dumb dork 😂
And I still thought Rolf was the best too
Let's not forget Ed analysing Eddy crashing Rolf's tractor one time.
I will update this video for your inconvenience, since I'm busy playing to obtain video ideas for Fionna And Cake.
Ed: "I've seen better, Eddy. Look, the tractor is still intact, you could have done a lot more with the tree, plus you hardly wrecked Kevin's fence. And the steering wheel should be rammed over your head, like so."
2:46 This still kills me to this day lmao and I always liked how he positioned himself on the floor to properly speak into the mic. GENIUS!!
I feel like Ed, at least in the 1st Season was probably pretty smart. He's a dedicated monster movie fan, and obsessed with building kits of said monsters. We even see him building one in the Prank episode. So, he's more creative than academically smart.
Most of the characters were different in season 1. Ed was like the weird but functional one. Edd wasn’t so annoyingly uptight and Eddy was a little more chill
@@marticus1642 To be fair, that's the case in a lot of cartoons. This is far from the only one I've seen where the characters are roughly established during the first season, because the writers are still kind of figuring out what they're doing with the show. Then by the second season, the characters are adjusted, I imagine based on several factors, and fine-tuned into what they'll be for the remainder of the show's run.
He went through the same phase as Homer Simpson, Cosmo the Fairy, and Patrick Star. At first all four of them had average intelligence throughout the first seasons of their shows, then later on they become total morons.
In one episode, it's revealed that Ed got an A in history class.
Edd: “Science is a cornerstone of our reality.”
Ed: “You’re just not trying hard enough to test the limits of physics Double D.”
The existence of limits is just an excuse people use when they've reached the extent of their own fathoming.
According to Roanoke Gaming, humans are capable of exerting more strength than they think they can. The thing is we feel pain to prevent ourselves from potentially pushing our bodies too far. A man like Ed, however, finds pain to be a strange concept. Case in point all the physical pain he goes through in the series and still seems A-OK.
So basically: Ed is right.
@@Ohflipsnap Which is basically why we have adrenaline. To push us to those limits when it's absolutely necessary.
Ed winning the spelling bee by getting all the words he knows, including ectoplasm, has to be the most satisfying thing I’ve watched. Bravo!
Definitely one of the episodes I think of whenever I tell people that I enjoyed the last season of the show, and the new direction it took (fall and classroom settings).
@@leahkent3915 Did people not? I can't really think of anything not to like about it.
@@thePlayer787You’d be surprised. Some people feel like seeing them go to school and live life outside of the Cul-de-Sac killed the aura of the earlier seasons. I for one loved what they did for the later seasons. The school episodes were some of my favorites.
It proves that if you made a television show that would both appeal to him and also teach the high sciences, he could probably crack cold fusion.
It would be in the most mentally upside down, inside out manner possible, but it'd still be cold fusion.
It would make sense too since he has a love for reading comics.
Rolf: youve learned well turkey eyes.
Honestly that momment is sweet. It shows rolf never meant ed no ill will. Ed just needed to find his niche and earn rolfs respect
Out of all the kids, rolf typically liked the Eds the most overall unless they legitimately annoyed him.
@@XTWDeadShotI’d say Jonny was just as friendly if they weren’t bothering him
If you think it about it, Ed is the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz. No brain. Whether it was intentional or not, the series showed Ed slowly progressing as he shows some level of intelligence and by the end of the movie, Ed obtained his "brain" when he unhinged the door so it can knock Eddy's brother out.
If Ed is the Scarecrow, I'm gonna take a guess and say that Double D is the Lion and Eddy is the Tin Man?
@@nicholasjohnson5845Who would be Dorothy?
@@coachlombardi9657 Sarah? Naw
@@djamtz The only people I can think of are either Jimmy or Nazz.
The Big Picture Show has the comparisons of the Wizards of Oz. At the end of the movie, each of the Eds found their missing identity. Ed is scarecrow and found his brain, Edd is the Lion who found his courage and Eddy is the Tinman who found his heart.

Seeing Double D all giddy at Smart Ed is just hilarious
Absolute proof that Ed may not be the smartest guy in the Cul-De-Sac, But even he has his share of intelligent moments.
I love these type of gags where the stupid characters gets to act smart for a bit and then returns to acting stupid.
@@emberfist8347 Speaking of which, A lot of people used to think that the boomerang episode of EENE was a missed opportunity in terms of Ed being smart, Because those people thought that if the boomerang made Ed smart then it should've made Double D dumb instead of laid back.
Because you know, Since Double D is always the smart member of the trio they thought having him be dumb for a change would've been more fitting.
@@TheCommenterDragonThat would have been so basic and predictable. Flipping the uptight worry wart side of Double D was much more creative and gave us a personality we haven’t seen before.
@@redrobins731 True, But again the reason people thought that the boomerang should've made Double D dumb is because since Ed is usually the dumb one and Double D is usually the smart one, Having them switch sides of the fence to the opposites of their real personalities would've been interesting to see.
At least I think that's what they said.
To quote a line from a book- “ Like most stupid people, he sometimes shows flashes of common sense and brilliance “.
8:02 Ed really found his 🧠
8:02 attaboy, Ed. 😊
I feel like Ed has considerable brain power, maybe his thoughts are all over the place, maybe the thinking thinky parts are in a very different zipcode but with time, effort, a bit of elbow grease, he commits big thunk.
Danny Antonucci has said that Ed is based on his easily distracted, oft-daydreaming, dysfunctional side that was always focusing on something else while in the middle of an activity. also I think he said Ed would be a CEO in his adult life.
My all time favorite Ed line is, “It’s not just a gym bag Double D, IT’S A WAY OF LIFE!”
Ed is the kind of character that put all his points in Strength and Luck
Literally me
7:11 - 7:19
I couldn't help but feel so sorry for Eddy.
Ed can't play a Violin but can play a flute fluently is amazing.
5:37
I laughed the rest of the episode when he literally flew
I guess all he had to was believe
Ed being Smart is a rare phenomenon. So you have to embrace it whenever it happens!
Very first scene: the Ed boy extracts a flute from his ear canal by blowing his nose, straight into Eddy’s nose. He takes the flute then plays a prefect melody to take a bunch of farm animals into his house. We are off to a good start here people!!
“Distasteful dullant” that will always be my favorite quote from Ed.
Every broken clock is right once in a while.
The maze part killed me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
0:20 like how Ed can play the flute so well but can barely play the violin.
Maybe ed is naturally talented with the flute. Only if his mom/mother experimented to see what he's good at. Or, maybe his mom/mother had a dream (ok, I know ed does say "in my mom's dreams I can", but in the sense of while she was sleeping) that ed could play the violin and she made ed play it.
To be fair, they're completely different instruments.
I think the violin episode was before the flute episode. Maybe Ed practiced and got better at music in general.
Or his mother considers the flute ‘insufficiently masculine’ or something equally stupid.
It will forever be fitting that the finishing blow against Eddie’s brother is Ed setting up his friend.
Ed Turkey eyes is one of my favorite scenes. As Rolf said. He learned well.
I just realized something, Rolf is the only character in the show to have pets.
Well, Double D had an ant farm and in one episode Ed had a turtle that sat on his head. Dunno if you wanna count those tho...
@@kamele0n946 oh yeah! I forgot about his ant farm.
In addition to Edd's ants, Jimmy has gold fish. But Rolf would be the only one who has pets he can really take out and handle. It's to bad because Ed clearly wants pets-see his freezer experiment, sponge collection that all have names, and how attached he is to Rolfs animals- but his parents are always described as being really warn out, and can't really even take care of Ed and Sarah. I can see why Ed never got a pet of his own.
Jimmy, who owns goldfish: “Allow me to introduce myself.”
@@AustinSPTD1996 oh yeah, I forgot Jimmy had goldfish in one episode.
To be fair DD only said to go thru the maze in the shortest time Ed passed with flying colors DD shouldve accounted for Ed's Kaiju level strength
7:41 Something tells me Ed has had a bit of experience in that.
You mean with forging edd's mothers handwriting? Mmm, considering eddys comment, seems like it.
We all know "Drummomd" is not his last name.
Oh man I love Ed so much, he's my favorite because he's so comedy gold
Also Ed had an A+ in history on his report card so clearly he knows somethings.
You're telling me there is 8 whole minutes of Ed being smart
Probably from comic books and shows that have are very true to history and facts
"That isn't how you go through a maze!!"
"Think smarter, not harder."
Off topic of the video, but I wanted to point out that Ed is dressed quite stylishly. Love this striped tee and khaki striped jacket. In fact, all the characters are dressed quite interestingly, but I love Ed's style the most.
"I think I just thunk," And "It sure does stink when I'm right."
-I gotta remember those
You know, the OP is a true fan if he saved that one clip for last
Spending an extended time in female company can be mentally disorientating and physically confusing.
Ed is my spirit animal lol

You forgot the scene from the balloon episode where he pulled the chain on Eddy's pants and made his hair twirl like a helicopter repeller so he can fly and get the balloon
I'm still updating the whole video soon, after finishing my biggest EENE Compilation yet.
To be fair to Ed, when you have the power to crap all over the laws of physics like he does, you wouldn't care about being smart!
8:03 I think an awesome line to say here would've been HEY BROTHER *unhinged door* SAY UNCLE
Simple isn't always stupid.
I remember watching Ed win the spelling bee inspired me to try hard at my eighth grade spelling bee. And I won. Thanks for giving me that confidence when I needed it, Ed 🙌
3:38 is exactly the sounds i imagine affiliating with Ed.
Him putting an end to Eddy’s brother’s abuse was the smartest move ever.
Even he knew how to spot this side of violence.
6:42 "Hostility is the calling card of a weak intellect" *BASED*
Did Ed just become his own version of the Legendary Author of Kid-Friendly Horror, R.L. Stine?
In the words of Jerry Colonna, “Ehh it’s a possibility!”
He's the smartest kid in the cul-de-sac; he just chooses to be stupid. That takes a lot of work to remain in that state.
Just goes to show you, you don’t have to be booksmart, you just got to be some kind of smart
Ed's brain rarely fired on all cylinders, but when it did... Boy was smart as hell.
What about when he said "love is like an onion double d, the more you peel away it's layers the more it stinks"
Wait… wait… His last name was Drommond?
Don't forget that Ed got an A in History class.
these scenes are the real reason Ed is my favorite character of this show
0:11- I like this music Ed is playing on the flute
3:00 The kings of sound effects....even Ed walking has a sound effect🥲
DON'T DELETE THIS AWESOME CZcams VIDEO ! :-D
3:08 When I'm being a typical goth on a bad day lol.
Rolf being proud of Ed was one of the great moments. Also, Ed is like the most underrated smart person in the whole show. He has his momemts.😂😂
I still think about the Boomerang episode because it seemed like it unleashed either an opposite to each characters' personalities with Eddy being nurturing, double D being looser and Ed being far more articulate, or just their full potential.
Maybe Ed just isnt fully aligned mentally to be a true genius, but it's definitely there
I have a theory that Ed can have some intelligence but he's always pressured with responsibilities as an older brother and gets punished a lot while his sister Sarah gets away with something he didn't do?
I love how this song became Ed's personal BGM 😂
My favorite line:
"Chasing Phantoms: A Dissertation On Unifying Field Theory And Its Effect On Leptons And Quasars......By Edwin."
Well, Double Dee said to go through the maze, but he didn’t say how
How did you forget the "it's too small" scene? That was an another rare moment Ed was smarter than Double D!
It's not small, it's compact
Ed is honestly my favorite character of the series 😆
The difference between wisdom, intelligence, and charisma min-max builds
What about when he put a Christmas light bulb in Eddys pocket so that Eddy would eventually change the broken light on the Christmas decorations later?
I know I missed a lot of moments, so I'm making a sequel for this one for Ed. Also, I'm updating my video for Nazz since I gathered the whole series on my phone for 16GB. It's totally worth it.
I LOVE ED THE CARTOON NETWORK CHARACTER HIMSELF (SMART-VERSION) THE MOST TOO, EVERYONE
It seems like Ed’s intelligence is dependent upon the situation he is put in.
If only Ed's mother knew which musical instrument her son truly was proficient with...
This show brings back memories. Used to watch this when i was younger.
I'm honestly curious how old these characters would be nowadays. Maybr they might even be in highschool or they maybe even be adults.
Double D told him to go through the maze. So Ed went through the maze.
My headcanon is that Ed is actually a savant and by the time hes in his 20s he has cracked the laws of physics
LONG LIVE ED (SMART VERSION) ! !
BEST "NEW" CZcams VIDEO IN THE UNIVERSE, AND I LOVE IT A LOT
I've never actually watched the show and I can't help but be majorly distracted by the voices of Artha Penn from Dragon Booster (Matt Hill as Ed) and Dexter from Hamtaro (Sam Vincent as Edd) routinely getting into shenanigans. Its rather surreal...
