- In terms of actually working in these jobs, we're covering pay, hours, "exit options", culture and lifestyles quirks between consulting, banking, startup founder, venture capitalist (VC), software engineering (SWE), and product management (PM). (can you tell I tried a lot of things in college lol?) ps. first year salaries are referring to undergraduate new grads

thank you so much Mary
praying for you and it sounds like you are grateful for the experiences you've had, and it's also it's totally ok to be stressed about what feels like big decisions too! I made the vc choice very last minute, actually after going to the their offices to tell them I was taking a big tech job, and it changed my life to make that decision. All of that is to say, life has a funny way of playing out and you'll be ok because clearly you're very capable!
Love these videos, super useful and practical info!! Question - are these available via podcast? (Always great to see your face, but would be fantastic to listen while on a run! Also suspect you are very well connected and would have some really cool people on!!)
Jackkyyy!!! These are currently not available via podcast (but I suppose you can just play it in the background without watching). For a totally different type of content I make, you can subscribe to my crypto newsletter (on my linkedin!)
Hey Mary, thanks alot for the content you provided. I’ve been working as a Frontend Developer with a software engineering bachelor for the last 5-6 years here in Munich, Germany.
Would you please explain if there’s any chance I can break into VC/PE without having a finance degree? If yes, how and what are the basic steps to take?
Thanks again
Hey Milad, I made a video specifically on breaking into VC- czcams.com/video/Uxs07e0R29o/video.html! It's targeted towards students but there are lots of general advice/steps as well (the "my strategy" section I think is the best way). It is totally possible to get into VC from anywhere, primarily you need to get close to the startup ecoystem to break in. I would imagine it's pretty hard to break into PE without a finance background of some sort since the work involves hard skills around modelling, while early stage VC doesn't necessarily require that
