In generating lofty returns regardless of market conditions Hedge funds seem to be the best but can one invest in both concurrently?

Not because of ignorance, it's because of the high rate of unprofessionalism in the crypto market
Crypto is a whole different ball park. I would only invest funds in it that you are willing to lose or dont need. In terms of day trading crypto I don't keep an eye on anything at the moment except XRP. Wouldn't be right guy for day trading crypto

Can I be a portfolio manager with a cmt certification alone?
Im in desperate need of advise. I’m really talented with analysing all sorts of markets and formulate strategic algorithms to accurately predict future movements. I would like to work for a hedge fund but I’m not sure where to start or which job to apply for. I’ve done a few projects developing market reading programs for clients which have been greatly helpful to their businesses. But I want to go a lot further than just contracting. Hopefully start my own hedge fund one day.
Do you think it’s possible to get into this career without a degree?getting relevant certifications and experience?also where should one start experience wise?what low level roles lead to the role of portfolio manager?

There’s opportunities for school leavers out there
So, doing CFA is more suitable for being an asset manager, rather than any other division investment bankers like IBD , ST, Equity Research........etc.

Beautifully said, I tell my folks these words everyday. It's good to save money but most people don't understand the market moves and tend to be misled in facts like this and always depend on money in the bank.

Definately a more technical/specific masters for hedge funds and asset managers, however a masters in finance would give you more opportunities. To be honest, both would be good 👍

what is your opinion of the portfoliomanager as a long-term job? Do you estimate that in the upcoming 5-10 years the tasks of a portfoliomanager could be pointless in terms of digitalization? Is it still a promising job to aim for as a student or should we focus on other areas like IB/Consulting?

Many portfolio manager jobs are dying off - AI and index funds beating many as unecessary high commission managers
I always say this but AI & Technology, as automated as they are, aren’t able to completely function independently and will always need to be utilised still by human. I think as people say jobs die off, new jobs come about - technology is a companion, not a competitor.

Most portfolio managers can't beat the SP500 and that's quite sad. But "The Sharp Ratio", in the last 20 years 95% hedge funds and funds underperformed the sp500, volatility means nothing if we talk about a big-time horizon. The sharp ratio is a loser metric created to justify underperformance. So yeah if you want to work on one of these, the job is literally getting clients money to get that sweet juice from the fees.

I've worked in multiple banks in Switzerland. They just take the best candidates who are motivated to work in this business.

Hey! I appreciate your comment and stance. Feel free to look into hidden biases and institutional racism. Often times the playing field isn't even and so there's simply a lack of opportunity from the outset for individuals from minority groups.
@@AfzalHussein Sorry to say this because I can tell you are honest and well-intended, but I know those ideas and despise them. I'm 37, from Madagascar, and I've never faced any type of discrimination in a professional setting that stopped me from going forward (or up). It's all a matter of good presentation, how you express yourself, behave, and what level of confidence you project. Focusing on unproductive ego-triggering false issues like diversity, inclusivity, and so on is in my opinion really not the smart way to approach things.
