Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoyed the video. Did you notice I had a new microphone? Hope the sound is better now!
if you want to try this yourself there are some links in the description for materials or you can also use old food storage jars like a pickle jar f.e.
Now your depressing voice is high quality! (It's a joke)
I have a jar at home I may only be 9 but I'm very very exited to make one do you think I should?
We can hear your excited tone in high definition! ^_^
@@seek..... yes!
Great new mic!! 🤘🤘💚
Add a duck to it
Got it, I'll go find one!
@@HomemadeEcosystems fr?
a single duck maybe lonely, maybe 2 ducks?
@@animalbliss3713 agreed
@@animalbliss3713 Nah we need a hippo
Thank you very much for the close-up of the dirt, I appreciate it. I love your sense of humour
You are welcome!
Same
THANK YOU for not putting fish in it AND stating it's too small for fish! Too many people making tiny aquarium videos trying to go viral then sticking a goldfish, betta, guppies, or all the above together 😢
Honestly, you could probably get away with a few neocaridina shrimp (I can't quite tell the size though), but definitely ramshorns. I love my ramshorns. Nerites are also cool. You can get super tiny sponge filters that might work in there and super tiny heater if needed.
I'm sorry the front turned into the back 😂
Yeah I was thinking about adding shrimps but I think it is a little small even for them! Might make a bigger version of this for shrimps
@@HomemadeEcosystemshow can it possibly be too small for a neocaridina shrimp? Their bioload is next to nothing...
@@HomemadeEcosystems Reply to this man, my god
Expected moss, got dirt. Your videos always surprise. 👍
Careful with anubias, its really meant to be attached to a rock with its roots exposed in the water instead of planted
Thank you! I already took it out of the soil so its roots are exposed
@@HomemadeEcosystems these little anubias are really cute! :)
0:40 thank you so much for this wonderful close up. I have been needing it my whole life without even knowing 😔
you are very welcome!
Finally an aquarium tutorial on my level. Thanks Homemade Ecosystems
Yeah if I can do it, anyone can do it!
Nah I’d screw it up putting the sand in.
All my friends have jobs and I’m at home putting dirt in a jar and playing with woodlice
😂you have the better life imo
Same except my job is at a pet store so I'm at work putting dirt in jars and playing with woodlice and then I go home and do the exact same thing 🤣
Same but with whatever I can get my hands on
you'r videos absolutely make my day, always!! U have humor in these, but not too much, still staying in the point. LOVING IT SO FAR!!! KEEP IT UP!!! :DDD
Glad you like it!
Most underrated channel in the whole existence of the world, will definitely consider subbing to your patreon.
Thank you !! and don't worry, only do that if you have too much money (not a lot of people have that 😅). You already help me a lot by watching and commenting on my videos!
Honestly, your humor makes your channel prolly the best ecosystem one out there lmao
Thanks man!
Aquariums ecospheres are really hard, I’ve tried before and had trouble with soil leaching like you said. Seems like you added a nice layer of sand though so that should help. Hope this turns out well!
indeed! I hope it works too. At least I will learn a lot from it and I can make the next one better!
Another awesome video. Great to see that patreon list growing too, fully deserved.
Thank you!! You paved the way for new patrons the first one is always the hardest so thanks again for that!
Cute little Rmas Horn snails (red for color contrast) and freshwater fairy shrimp would be perfect. The entire cute package for a tiny aquarium. :)
Thank you!
I have so much time on my hands, I'll definitely do this soon. If I do, just know it's thanks to your videos! Love your humor and the tempo of these videos. Good stuff :D
Awesome, let me know if you do!
Sweet video, sweet humor, and basically i am lately getting interested in paludarium stuff.
Thank you!
I love your humor and the jar came out great
I appreciate your dry sense of humor, great channel!
Thank you!
Out of all the vivarium/mini ecosystem yt channels on here, you're the best because you have a fantastic sense of humor with an extremely monotonous voice. It's amazing.
Glad you like ir!

Wow great video! You are a great! Inspiration (I’m going to make one)

Awesome, good luck!
U got epic commentary dude ur hilarious keep em coming
this woke me up at 3 in the morning. i regret nothing, this was really cool
👏👏👏👏👏
Wow, thank you for giving up sleep to watch my video 😅
We'd get along fine. Your humour is a lot like mine, subtle and a bit dry😅. A few beer in and I bet it would be a jolly good laugh fest😂! Thanks for the decent video, sound was great.
Glad you liked it ! 😅
Awesome :D
"You need a jar to make an aquarium in a jar" - That was so dumb and it made me laugh more than I'd like to admit. Soo good.
"I guess the back is the new front" 😂🤣
Fantastic video!!
Thank you!
Keep up the good work @homemade ecosystems
I will!

I never knew i needed a washed dirt close up but whew
I love your sense of humour 😄 and I love the way you give ideas such as the stick 😂, oh and your lucky girlfriend 😉 😆 🤣
Leuke video man, ga zo door
Bedankt!
You may have to keep it in check because you've added quite a lot of dirt for such a small aquarium, but it is a great looking aquarium :)
The plants are probably elodea and echinodorus.
Thank you!! Yes I will probably have to be carefull for algea blooms because if the dirt releases too much nutrients. I added a lot of sand too so I'm hoping that will slow down the release of nutrients. If too much algea grow, snails might be a solution
@@HomemadeEcosystems That sounds great. 😊
Some water changes in the beginning will probably also help. But you got the very fast growing elodea so this plant will take a lot of the nutrients anyway
I made this mistake recently and was rewarded with stinky anaerobic bacteria
Most underrated content on CZcams
Thank you!
I love this channel release more vids
Pretty funny. I like the episode. I just discovered your channel. I'm watching.
Glad you liked it!
Absolutely love your humor! If you do a big enough jar, you could house a few cherry shrimp in there as well. I would wait at least a month or two before adding snails or shrimp, but this looks awesome! I've been wanting to do a closed ecosphere aquarium for a while, just don't have a big enough jar. So far it's all terrariums.
Yes I'm definitly going to wait at least a month. Do you think this one is big enough for a shrimp or two?
@@HomemadeEcosystems It's a little tight, but a couple of shrimp would do okay, the only thing is the they might want a hiding place or two, you could add one of those tiny shrimp caves. Keep an eye on them for the first few days after adding them just in case they seem stressed. But shrimp have a very low bio load, so a shrimp or two should not overload the jar, even with a ramshorn roommate.
@@ForestOfEmeralds thanks for the info, i'm going to start with snails and if they do well I might add a some shrimps. Or I will just do a bigger jar for shrimps.
@@HomemadeEcosystems Of course, I'm glad I could help. If you do a bigger jar for shrimp and film it, I look forward to the video ☺️
You should add a golioth grouper it would fit perfectly
Definitely would fit!
love ur vids btw
Okay going to try.
enjoying your voice and content you're welcome
Ahh I never considered CLEANING my dirt before eating it, that sounds amazing. Thank you.
I personally don't care about the topic at all but i like the dude that makes the videos so imma keep watching them
Yes 100% please add the snail. And keep up the good content :)
i'll try ! 😅
I love your commentary. It's so dry, in contrast to your jar aquarium! XD
Lol🤣
0:36 first time in my 20 years of life that I’ve seen someone clean dirt and samd
He is so funny 😂
You are the best
Thank you!
I just found your channel a few minutes ago and have already watched 2 of your videos in full. Your commentary on your videos so awesome that I just left you a subscription. I usually subscribe very very rarely to anyone, but your humor is really worth it. Keep it up i really like your humor 😁👍

I always loved playing with Sea Monkeys but never had much of a cool tank to display them. Maybe that would be a cool project!
Yeah I will probably do that, I've been thinking about getting some!

Have you considered selling your terrariums and things? They turn out so pretty and so varied that you'd probably make a killing! ❤
Thanks! And yes I have thought about it but it is nog easy sending these things and keeping them alive especially because most od my viewers are from America and I am from Europe😁
A new jar! Yay
I made a jar terrarium last week
It stinks :)
A water jar?
Honest man real stuff nice fish we will all die I have no idea what I am saying please make a mini forest inside a jar
🤣
i'm doing the same but in an extra large brandy glass. once it all settles i will add some shrimp i think
Thumbnail goes hard
Good video. Now add a Wolf ❤❤
Thank you ! Hmm don't think a wolf would survive in a water jar, will put him in one of my terrariums
haha, great humor. Do you ever wanna make a paludarium, i would really like to see how you would make it.
Yes that is definitely on the list of video ideas!
A duck? Ha ur funny! I like it!
Please show us, if your plan with the snails works out!
1:10 the forbidden mustard
As someone that has aquariums: yeaaaaaaaaah, those plants are gonna grow, man, BUT if you grow the same plants in a tank for long enough, they will eventually dwarf themselves 😊 You don't even need to keep the lid closed, my Tiny Tank doesn't have its lid fully closed either.
Instead of ramshorns I recommend the teeny tiny pond snails that often piggyback into our tanks on plants and which I absolutely adore for their tiny size 🥰🥰🥰 I also have the horrible practice of not always covering the dirt in my tanks, that way any detritus just blends in perfectly.
I already have trouble not creating tanks in every glass vase I meet, I am now facing large difficulty not making a new tank in a lidded jar 😂
Awesome, thank you for the tips!!
So I went to a beach one time (ikr, shocking)
I wanted to make a little seashore in a bottle, so I took an empty smartwater bottle and put some sand in then added shells.
A few years later, when I actually start letting sunlight into my room, a small little aquatic plant is now growing in the bottle. I’ve named him Suprise.
That is the awesome part about terrariums, they can always surprise you!
Add snails. Also add cricket jam to your mouth.
Just stumbled upon the channel and love the videos. Relaxing and entertaining.
I am wondering tho, how does one change the water in a jar like that? You cant just tip the jar or everything will come falling out... 😅
With a plastic tube, put one end in the jar suck on the other end, get a mouth full of dirty water, spit it out, and the water should flow 🤣
Can you add a link for the green water plant?
2:45 - liked the video
The front looks good though, it gives space for viewing the inhabitants.
The stuff on the roots is rock wool
I subscribed just based on your commentary
Welcome!
How many times should you replace the water? The front is actually pretty good. Very cinematic and theatrical framing and staging. You just need someone else in the front to complement the plant and stone.
I'm going to replace it 2 -3 times completely and after that maybe once every few weeks but only half of the water. I could maybe add a small piece of wood in the front?
Amazing! Sorry if you've already answered, but do you ever open the jar? And how often do you add water?
At the start yes because there aren't plants to produce oxygen. Now I only open it to film once every few weeks. I haven't added any water since day 1
where do you keep it? could your talk about the light you use for it?
It is on a north facing window sill. So it get's a lot of natural light but no direct sunlight
Can u make it in a bottle syrup ?
What’s the activity like at night?
Make a hour long vid please as a time lapse of a ecosystem
