What is kuchi?
Kuchi is the elephant's favorite snack!
We interacted with some elephants the other day, so I hope they remember us.
The Elephant Camp is part of Tiger Tops. We walked through the organic farm with our naturalist, Gyan.
ELEPHANT CAMP VISIT & KUCHI MAKING
Duration 1 - 2 hours
This activity includes:
B. making kuchi and feeding them
*Kuchi ingredients = Chickpea + Molasses + Rice
1. Pick some grass and fold 3 times
2. Make a bowl like a bird nest and put ingredients inside
3. Cover with more grass
4. Tie it well
Each elephant eats 100 kuchi every day.
(There are 8 elephants here.)
"How many should I make today??"
"As many as you can"
Mahouts can make 9 while I was making 3.
If the kuchi isn't in a great shape or some ingredients are missing, they might not eat it.
What an amazing experience we had! They loved the kuchi we made.
When they're happy, I'm happy.
Making kuchi is one of the mahout's daily activities, glad we were able to help a little. We like how Tiger Tops takes care of their elephants. We learned a lot about their behaviors and habits.
I want to go back to Tiger Tops to touch them someday again!
