  • In Nepal, we stayed at Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge.
There are many activities to choose from. We did most activities there and I'd like to show how they went.
This video shows "Elephant River Walk and Bathing with Sundowners" activity.
I made some other videos to show the activities.
Here is a full video of the activity "Elephant Camp Visit and Kuchi Making"

Here is a full video of the activity "Rhino Sightings on Jungle Walk."

    The activity started at 3pm.
Elephants were waiting by the lodge. Two elephants and their mahouts were introduced by our naturalist, Gyan.
There are 8 female elephants at Elephant Camp by Tharu Lodge.
    *Tips of this activity
    • Walk in a line between elephants
    • Don't run when you encounter wild animals
    • You will see how elephants walk in the jungle, what they eat, and how much they eat
They like the jungle walk because they can eat.
You can touch their elephants to interact. They are hairy, hard, warm, and heavy!! You can even touch the elephants while they're walking. They are so gentle.
In this activity, you walk through a jungle and a village with elephants. Actually it's one of their daily activities and you get to participate in it. At Tiger Tops, the guests don't ride elephants. They stopped elephant-back safaris a long time ago due to the stress it caused elephants. Instead, we have an opportunity to walk with them. Tiger Tops staff doesn't treat them as transportation. I like the concept and how they take care of them. We see them closer, touch them, and watch what they eat. It's a great activity to do on the first day.
We saw some tiger tracks. Gyan knew how long ago they were made and female or male.
When we're close to the river, they walk faster because elephants know they can bathe there.
When we arrived at the Narayani river, Tiger Tops staff were waiting for us with drinks.
It was a hot & sunny day, so they enjoyed cooling down in the water.
They look so happy and enjoy bathing. They seemed fine with us touching them and taking pictures.
Elephant Camp by the lodge is like a senior living place for elephants, and they are well taken care of by mahout
I wanted to spend more time with them, but they had to go. 😭😭
I want to go back to Tiger Tops to touch them someday again!
