Thanks for the video. Man you made it so easy taking that big pipe off from the throttle body. I struggled, in the end i just undid the intercooler part of the pipe.
It was a tuff job today started 7.30am till 2pm was a pain of a job. But worth it now. I am deleting the flaps since mine are showing sign of oil leak and movement.
Ive also decided to spray WD40 on the glow plugs, when engine was walm so i can replace them with new ones.

Each pair of flaps can be pulled out with the oval holder, you don’t need or want to chisel them. Other instructional videos show this in a simpler fashion.

I have Diesel leaking (at injector #1) at the back of the engine and also gas leaking. I've replaced the seal and cleaned everything up nice and tidy and after a bit over a day (40 miles driven aprox.) the problem is back as it was. I don't know what else I can do. Here is a link to a video showing the problem. @ Slacky power, fumes in the cabin, very bad fuel milage, These are the symptoms. At times I get the P0402 code (EGR related) but that wasn't the case when it was working fine + I had the inlet manifold, throttle body and egr cleaned recently with swirl flaps delete. Any suggestions, please? Thank you!!!

These engines aren't prone to swirl flap failure, also I think they're plastic on this engine compared to metal on previous engines, if you've got the previous generation M47 engine I'd recommend swirl flap removal.

This “modification” is the best way to ruin the drive of your car. You will need to do a very costly re-map to ensure the low down response. You can buy a quality after market inlet manifold with a new actuator very inexpensively and maintain the original map.
