Strength build does not like magic, magic bad!
Try the black crypt blacksword in dk 2
Ah now you see the problem with that is that I'd have to play dark souls 2 -_-
And you probably think that dk 2 is the most disgusting thing in the world
Oh no not at all, I've played far worse games! Simply my least favourite of the franchise
Mizerable Git Yes, you have to trudge through the PVE, but the PVP is amazing.
Hey SLB, big fan, but I'm gonna need 4 million dollars for that clip of mine you used at 10:27
Copyright?
Proof
Can we copystrike sunlight blade ? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
SunlightBlade wait... dangit , people can't
He'll do a ds1 no hit run instead
Can't believe my clip was even used in the intro. Made me so happy (:
Cangrats man that clip was sick!
@The best CZcams r 3 "in the intro" it's the first one before the list starts
It was horrible and you should be ashamed lol.
Actually yes, due to the sheer amount of magic in total, dark souls 2 was actually the best for sorceries and other users of different magic.
After seeing those white ring hidden body combos. I just have this paranoia in locking on to all ghosts I see when I invade or am getting invaded out of sheer fear
ERASEHUMANITY it literally says when you’ve been invaded though...
Luc- Hart- yes I do know that part. but who knows if one of those invaders are disguising themselves as a ghost.
Its pretty obvious if you look closely enough.
Im always paranoid with those things. I did one with a mage. Quite fun.
I've never heard of Twisted Wall of Light before this.
I love using it, in all souls game. Never expected.
Waht te fok is that?
I knew about it, but nothing about his nature with your own spells
I thought it was a modded spell.
It's one of the golden spells. You find it in the swamp area to the far right I believe.
When the Switch version of DSR came out, I helped my two friends out with Anor Londo. I had already progressed to AotA and reached Manus, I was a miracle user but with a bit of intelligence for the True Artorias Greatsword. When I was waiting to be summoned, one of my friend got killed by an invader named pig using Dark Bead. We had already met so many casters during the Funhouse and I was fed up. Luckily, I already killed Gwyndolin and got the catalyst that scales with faith and had Dark Bead attuned. Right when I was summoned, pig invaded again, seemingly angry that the guy he just killed had a summon. I bowed to him, and when he was bowing back, I pulled out the catalyst and shot him point blank, killing him instantly. Even my friend was disgusted after I point downed.
I'm also in agreement that sorcery was best in DS2. And not just sorcery, _all_ magic was best in that game! It had some of the best and most unique spells out of all the games, including Bloodbourne and Demon's Souls! Hexes were their own magic school, there were dozens of excellent standouts like Soul Vortex, Splintering Lightning Spear, Dark Dance and Immolation. I'm honestly surprised more of the clips on this list weren't from that game. Overall a great video, though! Can't wait to see the next one!
cain Could just be my experience, but DS2 is dead on xbox. If theres no one to invade then theres no clips :(
Even meele is the best in my opinion
Dylan Woodward DS2 is very alive over on PS3, in my experience, and from streams I've seen there's a lot of PS4 activity as well.
sorcery looked crappy in ds2 :/
DKS2 is alive and well on PC. You still get arena/Iron Keep battles within seconds usually.
IMO, DKS2 spellcasting was by far the best in terms of how interesting it was, though the more melee-oriented spells and poisecasting in DKS3 is also quite fun. It's just the lack of tactical spells like homing souls arrow, splintering lightning spear, and soul flash makes casting in DKS3 mostly feel the same, even using completely different spells. It's just that the vast majority of casters are and have been in all the games those people who back up constantly, panic roll repeatedly, and only cast dark orb and soul spear.
Magic was at it's peak in DkS2, each field had it's strengths at their best. Faith was still a good bit behind but those party buffs were killer
If only ds3 had more sorcery thats not just
Shoot projectile
Shoot stronger projectile
Summon projectiles around that shoot at the enemy
A Dreamer To be fair, pretty much all the souls games have that issue, ds2 probably being the closest to variety.
And not only that ds2 had viable "alternative" ways to cast
Cuz you know
Blue flame doesnt suck
Kogata
Yeah and they all do poor damage and are easily evaded due to ds3 having rolls cost very little stamina
Not only that there startup is significantly slower than it was in ds2
Kogata So did ds2 though, it has Soul Greatsword, and various spells like Soul Geyser and Soul Shower which cover an area instead of a single shot.
wrong
Hexes in any souls game are either hitting like a wet noodle or a freight train, nothing in between
cbb88christian DS2 Dark Orb.
Yea, Dark Orb was either getting hit with a fully loaded shopping cart going down a hill, or if the guy's stats were high enough, like getting hit by a minivan.
How do you make it hit like a train in ds3.
But some spells either hit like wet toilet paper or a stale bagel.
Dark Orb wasn't really midtier. It should have been, or even lowtier, but despite casting very quickly, having many casts, being extremely cheap/easy to acquire, having low stat requirements, having a large hitbox and homing fairly well, it also did insane damage per cast. Its only downside was poor range. -yet they nerfed all lightning damage across the board because GLS was about 70% as bad as dark orb-
magic has a place in every souls game, but ds2 was the best imo
Think regeneating fp in ds3 would have been best
Cough cough demon’s souls cough cough
@@luminarymoonlight4751 yeah but it’s not as varied as other games
DSII was very strong, you have a thousand of item to regenerate spell uses so it's way less limited than ds3, plus magic infused weapons could also be magic buffed so it had the best spells while still having the best melee damage which was kinda broken. The rolling i-frames not being as generous as ds3 also meant that spells had a much easier timing at roll catching too just by throwing slower spells and then fast ones.
DSI and Demon Souls were also very strong but in a boring, broken/cheap way, bloodborne was good too not even requiring a catalyst while also not needing bloodgems to get the crazy damage. DS3 was the one with the most drawbacks.
*INT IS JUST BLUE DEX*
In't is just blue *GATORADE*
Aether Films UGH ME THINK MAGIC BAD
Faith is just yellow strength
Another filthy strength build
No skill
Too much poise
Dex is the skill meta
@@rangopistacho6928 you probably build dex
I’m gonna have to agree that dark souls 2 had the best casting variety we’ve seen.
Kinda disappointing there was only one clip from dark souls 2
HashSlingingSlasher I know, right. DS2 has some of the best magic of the series in all situations. It's easy to control the environment with a good mage build.
I agree ds2 magic was so fun
also some of the best Fashion-Souls.
overnerfed
I'm gonna guess that the video is mostly DS1 op sorcery builds, a lot of neatish DS3 sorcery shenanigans, and some god tier DS2 magic builds
PhoenixPalmer If you count some as one, then you’re pretty accurate
Magic in dark souls 2 period was one of the most OP I remember when they nerfed lighting spear into the ground because you could run through bosses with it and they had a lot of uses/capacity
Personally i 100% agree that sorcery (and all magic schools tbh) was the best in dks2. I generally consider 2 to have the best combat despite the occasional weird hit box etc. Which in effect makes it my favorite when it comes to pvp. Making it my overall favorite cause they all equal out imo of them pro v con wise. Good vid. Enjoy your trip.
Should've just excluded any clip that has the player being killed by Dark Bead
Thank you for pointing out that magic can be countered as easily as it can, as it seems a lot of people are struggling against dark magic in dsr. If people could just stop resorting to tweaking (I've been invaded by nothing other than tweakers. When I avoided infusions/+5 max weapons, I recieve no invaders at all) then the pvp could be fun again.
Great top 10!
Dylan Woodward I think you mean twinking, not tweaking.
Luc- Hart- Probably, I hear everyone saying both so I just took a guess lol.
Dylan Woodward that’s weird, I’ve never heard anyone say tweaking.
I put Great Magic Barrier with my Faith builds and i like to "Well What is It" against Dark Bead spammers just to spite them. Causes quiiiiiiite a lot of disconnects.
Did he just say tweaking? Lmao.
I remember there was a top ten list that had a spot that a host was leading an invader into a trap that was 3 or 4 summons using soul stream at the same time leaving no place too escape. But I can't seem too find it anymore It also had the sound of the death star lazer firing. I thought it was on sunlight blades channel but I could be wrong.
0:42 thats me... feelsbadman xd
Filthy casual using dark bead...
"We will be looking at some of the best sorcery kills in this video". He says while showing us a clip of someone spamming noob beads and then thinking they're a god.
Still cool though
I think it was a combination of things that leaves DS2 as what people consider 'best for sorcery' or spells in general. DS1 had a lot of great things going for mage builds, but DS2 added a ton of diversity to the spell list. It separated Hexes into their own subset and even added scaling for pyromancy (although, lets be real pyromancy is better in DS3, but partly because of how EVERY ENEMY EVER resisted fire in ds2). In ds2 spells (sorceries, miracles and even pyromancy to a lesser extent) could be separated into 3 categories: Direct Damage, AoE/Zone Control, and Buff/Utility. Sorcerers had options like soul shower and soul vortex to force rolls panic rolling that could be punished, or as a smokescreen for some of the easier to dodge high damage nukes. Clerics had things like blinding bolt and heavenly thunder. And pyromancers... had a not crappy firestorm? Well, one thing about pyromancy that was good in ds2 was that a ton of spells shared the same initial animation which made mind games vs a human opponent tricky and lethal. It could be a fireball, it could be combustion, it could be firestorm, it could be forbidden sun.
Getting back on track, DS2 added a lot of utility and battlefield control spells. Added on top of this was the fact that rolls could be punished and there were some things whose job was to poke down a panic rolling player. DS3 rolled around, and while the spell lists are impressive it's also a bit lacking. Hexes were almost completely torn off the roster, going back to being a meager subset of miracles and sorceries (although the new pyro hexes were nice). In addition there was a distinct lack of the previous zone control options. Miracle users lost heavenly thunder and blinding bolt, and any substitutes they had were very telegraphed and easy to avoid. Sorcerers took the biggest hit, their kit was slimmed down to be 'direct damage nuke one through twenty' with maybe one or two zone control spells, but nothing even close to what they had previously. They lost good sight obscuring spells like soul vortex, they lost their fantastic close range 'get away' spell in soul flash and although soul shower returned as the crystal variant... it was trash. Combine this with worse tracking for spells across the board (there are a large amount of sorceries that can be avoided by just walking sideways... while drinking estus) in concert with how safe and hard to punish dodge rolls are made for a downturn on spellcasting in ds3. To the point where in ds2 you could have an entire build focused on wielding nothing but a staff (maybe a shield in the offhand) but in ds3 its possible but much, much harder than just crystal infusing a longsword and saving spells to womp on the boss. I won't get into detail on the FP system, I'll just say that it was a buff for 'spells on the side' builds but a bit of a nerf for 'spells sandwich but with spells instead of bread and more spells instead of filling' builds, having to choose between estus or one more Crystal Soul Spear that was probably going to miss or get dodged anyways.
All in all... I love a lot of the stuff that's available in ds3, but the real heyday of sorcery was ds2.
I totally agree that Dark Souls 2 was its best with magic than other dark souls
I think it was to confusing. Getting the spells. But I suppose that’s just me being unfamiliar with dark souls 2
@@dr.flipflop8523 I think it was the superior due to the point that you can farm wedges to reduce the requirements of spell.
So effectively you could level your Character up enough for the int requirement of any staff and you could use any spell you want through wedges.
Same going for Miracles, Pyromancies and Hexes.
Dark souls 1 magic is about as impressive as R1 Longsword spamming in DS3.
Straightswords wont one-shot you, so its not as bad as DS1 magic...
Parrying is infamous in ds3 because everyone uses straight swords and thus it's really easy to parry people.
R1 straightsword spam being the best tactic in DS3 is a myth. If you will try to take that "OP" dark sword and start spamming everyone, you will either get parried, or get destroyed by ANY weapon with hyperarmor. The real power in DS3 belongs to weapon arts. Weapon art can make bad weapon into a good weapon, and a good weapon into a beast. With my weapon art I eat those R1 spammers for lunch.
Михаил Пашковский Parry is what I try to tell people that think R1 spam straight sword is op. You don't even need good timing, everyone using straight swords is why parry kings are so infamous. Wow, I tried to R1 spam this guy to death and he parried me * guess I'll just keep R1 spamming*
Well, to be fair, parry spamming is also kind of annoying, because even when you mix up your attacks your opponent can luck out and get you anyway. But in case of parry kings I just pull out my giantaxe and rub it in their belly.
Honestly its hard to call which was better for magic. Though DS2 did have some interesting options across the different types of magic, normalised Hexes and had great combos with its different casting weapons. My personal favourite was the Blue Flame.
DkS2 definitely had the best sorcery, and in my opinion the best spell caster variety of the series. Dark magic, Pyromancies, Miracles, Sorceries all of them. A lot of people give the second game a lot of flak, but it was fantastic.
Fantastic video. I'm sooooooo looking forward to the next topic.
Send those Gravelord clips, bois and gals!
Enjoy Poland. You better be going for some Souls events.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how much community footage he sifts through to make these videos, praise the sunlightblade!
7:36 mom i'm on youtube
Gabrielly Conforto congrats lol
I agree with darkfury45, Dark Souls 2 was where sorcery was at it's strongest, the shear wealth and variety of spells combine with lot's of actually useful spell casting tools made sorcery builds much more viable and not unnecessarily awkward to use like in EVERY other Souls games.
DS2 magic was, by far, the best.
So many different weapons to use, so many spells to combine.
DS3 is all pyro/crystal spear spam and DS1 is Dark Bead - boring.
Wildfire dark souls 3 magic also hit like tissue paper until 60 intelligence
Михаил Пашковский You know, it was honestly shocking how many dumbasses in DS3 would just walk face first into a soulmass or CSS. They were more focused on slow walking toward you like a badass than on not eating shit. My favorite wombo combo was watching someone face check a crystal soulmass, and then stand there and try to heal as if the fight hadn't started. Immediate soul spear in response.
Михаил Пашковский is a pure pyro viable in DS3
Or any kind of pure caster
you wanted to see ds2 to be praised, yet you still want your words in the debate.
You have to love how the situation in the first clip ends up reversing for the host.
So fun to see dark mead every video, I really loove seeing repetitive situations with boring cheap one shot
Oooh, I've got an idea for Dark Souls top 10 part 21! How about top ten Dark Souls original character builds? Get the creative juices flowing!
You saying let's get magical at the beginning is why I subscribed.
Top Ten Sorcery kills. Includes a kill just because hidden body was involved. Really good showcase of magic there...
Remito perhaps the host should've been more aware of their surroundings
DS2: Soul Shower + Stone Ring followed by a Crystal Soul Spear = A very quick match
Throw a Homing Crystal Soulmass or Heavenly Thunder for further results..... Though you may accumulate a lot of hatemail in your inbox
Mad Mithra Just equip dark bead. Even your allies will send you hate mail.
I love the transparent troll ghost kills, they amuse me so much.
Lucky guess? The host is always Smough because they stay back and swing when needed while the phantom is the aggressor trying to lure you to a ledge or anywhere Smough can do well if he's not doing so well alone due to weapon speed.
Wow, cant believe you saved that submission from way back xD. Thanks for remembering SB.
Broken Aeons sooooo how's the rifle spear build ;)
Nick Tower slowly but surely. Hows your weight?
5:08 😂 they probably thought they looked so cool sitting there like that lol
ok that twisted wall of light clip was possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen in this game.
We need more Ds2 Clips
That number 2 was my favorite. Great work to everyone
Snap freeze plus immolation tinder is a ballsy build. Respect for someone actually running that in PvP.
So Seeing as the next countdown is going to be about the 1st Dark Souls' Gravelords, think future ones can be about unique covenants from the sequels? I'm thinking the Rat King and Moundmaker covenants.
I'd love to see some Ratbro shenanigans. So much shit you can pull off.
I've been thinking about making a sorcerer build and this video has given me some ideas for PvP.
honestly hate resorting to dark bead but anything goes against spawn campers on the bridge, thanks for the feature slb, great subs, personally loved the soul stream one
Dark bead is so insanely powerful, its like a magic shotgun
That smough push was epic and clean af
In regards to the Great Soul Dregs submission, I had a situation like that before. I was going through Archdragon Peak on NG+3, and was having a bit more difficulty with the Nameless King than usual. So I summoned somebody who turned out to be a sorceror. Dragon stage is easy when you know the attacks, but once we got him on his feet, the summon used Great Soul Dregs and utterly decimated him in at least 40 seconds. Serious props to the summon that helped me, and showing me how powerful that sorcery really is. Crazy thing was I didn't see a Morion Blade on him and he wasn't at low health either, so I guess his Intelligence stat was crazy high.
Dark Souls 2 magic was the strongest because of how badly the connection would fuck you up sometimes.
Some spells were easy to hit with in general, so it's not like it was solely the connection, but you only really got hit most of the time because the damage was dealt long before the spell hit you. It's not as apparent in real time, but slowed down footage often shows it quite well, and that bit of extra reach could eff you over very easily in a fight.
Shocking lack of DS2 when talking about best sorcery lol
Top 10 sorcery kills and number one isn't even a sorcery kill...
123eldest kinda sums up the list tbh.
Top 1 also accelerates afinity (which was the thing I already knew).
That no.1 was interesting.... don’t think it deserved no.1 spot though
I miss playing dark souls
*Let's get magical, magical!*
oh no
Dark Souls 2 had some of the best magic but also some of the easiest counters to magic. Dark Souls 1 had the strongest magic but again fairly simple counters and Dark Souls 3 had a solid mix of both.
GiantDad is so powerful due to his frequent use of the T-pose maneuver. We never realized it until now.
Yesss! I’ve been waiting for another top ten.
My boy Gwyndolin in the thumbnail!
Best girl (male)
I would've liked to have seen Dark Bead in the other Souls game. Very cool spell, regardless of what people have to say about its power.
I think sorceries and magic in general has been fairly consistent through the series. The main difference in performance that I've noticed was the hitboxes and latency of DS2 and the increased pace of DS3.
I swear sunlight blade is the only youtuber where i dont mind the slow upload speed
Soul Stream hit Smough so hard, he was thrown off the edge! Did I mention it was SMOUGH?
Wish I could get up on one of these lists with my Pyromancer. That would be an honor, and his quest, would be complete.
man i loved playing as a wizard in ds2 but having to use one use items like amber herbs and stuff was crazy annoying, i much more prefer the ds3 version because of the ashen estus flask.
I am not sure if this is true, but I am sure that in DS1/DSR that dex inproves cast speed meaning that your statment about dark bead being the fastest spell to be casted can be even faster.
Nice vid man the last mage build seemed to be fun to use.
Keep doing what your doing Sunlightblade Praise the sun
Noice video sunlight. Keep up the good work my dude
Dude cmon, Magic was at its strongest In Dark 2, thats undebatable.
“Ds2 was the peak of magic”
Convergence mod: hold my staff, chime, pyromancy flame and my moonlight greatsword…
We heard the grin at ''lets get magical'' haha
I'm working on sorcery as my 2nd character, so this is perfect timing.
Strength builds:Everything but strength is terrible, if you don't have strength your a noob.
Dex builds:Why is dark souls 2 the only one of good dual wielding mechanics?
Sorcery builds:Yo dawg you may say we suck, but how many times has anyone died to us?
Pyromancy builds:I just want to use magic but not called a noob or get hated for using sorcery
Miracle builds:Anyone want to see my montage of me killing people with force?
I was thinking about the doc and remembered. the aquamarine dagger seems like a light saber.
New topic idea
TOP TEN ONE SHOT KILLS!!!!
I want to see some amazing things!
Don't see why you added so many ds1 submission, very few mages in that game are actually good.
Mages you mean dark bead?
maybe because its the newest iteration of the series?
Its the newest release. Dark souls remastered came out a month ago. Being the newest released its the most popular. Obviously 2 and 3 came after
Very few mages in any dark souls game are good
Dsr is the newest. Most people dont stick to what ds game they enjoy, they stick to whats new.
Otherwise all the games would be alive online.
I'm actually wanting a top ten miracle kills for DS(R)
Ainrehtea Dal'nalirtu true, but it could be more like non-cancer thing, y'know?
Some sick lightning spear kills would be nice to see.
#5 was sadly an overleveled person clear by the sheer amount of health, stamina, FP and the fact you need such high int for the 1 shot
#3 probably wasn’t mind games but instead the host thinking they would be able to cancel the animation before he got the spell off, it’s easy to differentiate between dark magic and normal by the little bubble thing that appears around the hand pre-cast
“Dark Souls 2 Sorcery was the strongest”
Dark Souls 1-shot builds that clap not only players but BOSSES would like a word
Ray Dhimitri has soul geyser, and would like a word with you :P
Yeah I know this is two years old maybe going on three soon, but look up Ray Dhimitry's oneshot boss challenge. Kinda scary.
Number 3 just copied something onlyafro did a long time ago lmao
I agree with darkfury45 (number 8).
DS2's spells felt better to use also. Not saying they aren't good in the other souls games though.
Not gonna count Bloodborn though. Everything about that games amazing.
I managed to do a aural decoy to Crystal soul spear combo recently. It took a while cause the opponent kept on avoiding aural decot till he realised it does not hurt and ended up walking into Crystal soul spear LMAO
beautiful vid as always! i'd love to see more bloodborne too
I thought Dark Souls was dead? Huh. Time to download all three and get a re-run through all!
That Soul Stream on Smough is #1 on my list.
The Smough Cosplayer was probably the host due to the fact most people kill the actual bost last
He kept the honorary point down in.
Dude is right about sorcery and DS2. Annoying there was only one DS2 clip when that was the only time interesting magic existed
Nice work bro!
God I love having a sorcerer killer build on dsr
That spell of twisted wall of light made me want to play Dark souls 3 only to use it to Aldritch rain of arrows.
7:40 i died when i saw what the white summon did😂😂😂
I know it might take awhile to make but you should do a top 10 or 20 or whatever you decide, of the number one spots through out history and you can do it since you're doing all three games
