(RELEASE) Sonic 3D Blast PC: Better Intro

- Better Intro is a mod for the 1996/1997 PC version of Sonic 3D Blast (which is a port of the Sega Saturn's version) that replaces the eye-hurting 15fps intro CGI with the smoother 30fps video found in the Sega Dreamcast Generator Vol 1 Demo disc. The formats are different between two files (AVI for the PC ver and SFD in the demo disc), so I had to re-encode using VirtualDub with Xvid codec to make the file size reasonable without losing a lot of quality, as old codecs made it incredibly large. I also included the audio from the Saturn version because it has higher quality than the PC one.
Unfortunately the SFD video is the same resolution as the original, so there's no hi-def here. At least your eyes won't be tortured anymore with better fps.
So before downloading and using this intro, MAKE SURE Xvid codec is installed. It can be found here:

After then you can download the mod here. Extract to your Sonic 3D Blast installation folder:

@@DeevDaRabbit there's a reason why they arent the same cutscene, you see, in a genesis cartridge, it cant fit a lot on it which decided to put a small intro on it, while on a saturn CD you can probably put a lot more on it since its a probably better console, i mean its literally a 32-bit CD Console, or am i wrong?

Man I really miss playing this game on my old PC. SEGA really needs to make a Sonic 3D collection and add this as part of the collection pack. I want to play this game again so badly. Second Sonic game I ever played. I want new Sonic fans to experience this.😞

This intro is sourced from the Katana SDK, a smooth version of the endings may not be available
Hey I don't think I installed it properly and I think I experienced a placebo, can you tell me if I did this correctly?
First I downloaded and installed xvid like in the description
Then i downloaded the file
And then I replaced the corresponding file in the game folder
I know this sounds pretty normal but heres where I start questioning
So for fun I put a different .avi file in the same spot and started the game but for some reason the game started playing the original .avi intro instead of the new one so it got me wondering if this first .avi actually did anything because I didn't see any noticeable changes when I first put the new one in and it looked noticeably worse in-game than through playing it in windows media player. So can you help me?
Check the file name maybe?
@@rottenmind6991 Well in both cases I deleted the original intro and in the second one it still played the original so it might be stored somewhere else? I replaced it in the CDDATA folder
@@Ducky27_ It looks like you're using the original CD to play, that's where the game loads FMVs instead of installation directory. Google "Sega PC Reloaded" for solution.
@@rottenmind6991 I am using Sega PC reloaded, and I did a bit more of looking into this and did some comparison between the original and your mod, and I found that it did work, I could tell by the improved framerate. But now I'm wondering why the second one didnt work, I did the same thing for it.

Yeah, I mean you would need the whole 3D session (of whatever 3D animation software T.T used for the intro/ending or the graphical design), also maybe the 3D file, not just the video file, that would just be impossible and wouldn't make any sense at all.

Sega ported a massive amount of games to PC under the Sega PC brand.
Sonic 3&K, CD and 3D Blast got ported (strangely 3DB is based on the Saturn version).
