@@ClayMann yeah this kind of stuff really helps people, if I didn't know how to do it I'd probably be looking for a short video by someone with a lot of subs just so I know they aren't wasting my time
I live in a rural area, so with three, ended up with the B535, but initially had problems, good connection, 20 mbps down (v good for edge of Bodmin moor), but, I had to reboot or reset at lest once a day, when it went to less than 1 mbps. By chance, I came across a blog for the 535. The guy said for maximum speed, 2 or three settings need to be changed; so, off I went to 192.168.8.1, and in advanced changed the aerial setting to internal, and the network setting to 4g only. Now I have 30mbps! The guy said to never leave the aerial setting on both. I have also changed the aerial setting on auto. Hope this helps others who have problems, and maybe Vince could try this on his to see what difference these settings make to his router. Really enjoy your videos, keep it up.
For Mobile Broadband this is not bad, especially is you have no traffic Limit, I wish we could have this in Germany. I Pay 9,90€/month with a limit of 4 GB, and then I have just 1 Mbit/s Thank you for the Video.
Thanks for that Vince, I've been following your tips for a long time now. We're in the country and 'exchange line only' i.e. copper cable to the exchange. Although the exchange is fibre enabled, Openreach have no plans to improve our connection. BT quote us 5mbs down and 1mbs up but using your tips I got that up to 7.5mbs down with the phone line. However, I recently changed to a 4G router and a Three 12 month unlimited data contract. We only get a 3G signal and although the signal strength is 75-100%, the signal quality is poor at -85 to -90dBm. Moving the router and now with an external antenna makes little difference, but my download is now a fairly stable 15-20mbs and 1.9mbs upload. That might not sound great, but it's twice to three times better down and double the speed up! Thanks again for the videos and good luck with the channel.
I appreciate this video a lot Vince. It was pure coincidence you uploaded this the day I was trying to find a eay to improve my 4G LTE signal. I went out and bought a netgear 4g ltr modem with dual antenna and a wifi router and its been wonderful. Thank you!
I've got the same setup. In my loft, it was bimbling around 15Mbps. I bought and external aerial and no matter where o put it upstairs, the signal & speed didn't get better - in fact it got worse. Like Vince said, try it all over the house... And similar to him, the best signal for the router alone was in the kitchen. I positioned my external router outside and tried various positions and the best one was about 7feet off the ground in the opposite side of the house to where the masts were located!! (Found this using the Cell Tower location finder app) and now I'm getting 50, 60 and sometime 70Mbps. Use either of those apps to find the optimal setting of RSRQ, RSRP and SNIR. A couple of tips - go into the router settings (if you've got a Huawei, use the Huawei Manager app or the 3rd party HuaCtrl app) so make sure the antenna is set to EXTERNAL. Another tip is to set the receiving signal to just channel 3 (1800Mhz, or 3 and 20 (800Mhz). 3 on its own works best for me. (Using the frequency locking option of the apps)

4G LTE has come a long way, and it was originally designed to be the final step in wireless broadband. As you can see in Vince's vid, a proper permanent solution will work very well, also helps if the ISP has a good deal for your data package.

We are lucky to live in both virgin and BT fttp.. we were with BT fttc but we got great deal to switch to their fttp and gets speeds of 960 down and 120 up for £40.. so far it has been a dream.

Not that I know of,@@crappymeal - although I admit I've been out of the game for 6 or 7 years, and tech changes fast. As a tip for anyone around here, as far as many Huawei routers go, try forcing the band to 1800/2100 MHz. Even if the signal is terrible, it may still perform better than 700/800 MHz. Or try forcing 800+1500 MHz.

Ive got the same router with an outside omni-directional aerial and im getting 160mbps down and 20 mbps up. I am down in a dip below the main mast and about 5 miles away from it. if you download the open signal app to your phone then insert the router sim in your phone you can walk around with your phone and find the strongest signal this is particularly handy for finding the best signal outdoors. mounting the omni-directional aerial close to a wall will cause signal bounce and reduce the gain it has to offer so an aerial mast or pole about a foot long will prevent this. it is also adviseable to not increase the length of the cable that comnes with the aerial as its gain will be reduced. playing around with the orientation of the saerial also seems to help a lot particularly placing the aerial in a position where signal bounce from a nearby wall can be reduced, we mounted ours on the front corner of the building sticking out diagonally about half way up the front wall of the house but I used the phone open signal app to find the best signal area around the outside of the house. we are also on the 3 network with smarty mobile. we pay £18 a month for unlimited broardband and the price hasnt increased yet there is no contract and no standing charge to pay because it doesnt need a landline.
Eek did you check the 3 coverage. I went O2 and get 33mb sec. Same router. 3 was so poor and I can see the mast. Also 3 do lower speeds and then increase until stable I think. 5Ghz is better for most used devices such as netflix.
I am looking at that final speed test and can't help but notice how the upload is so much better than my upload from a "Fiber" (FTTC) connection that I have haha
Very nice. I gave it a watch to support you... but you can always learn something, can't you.... Yes you can. A friend who lives further out was asking me, is it worth it to do an external antenna... I do agree with you, if you have access to decent cable or something, that will almost always be your best bet, at least in the USA....
I'm on three and have got unlimited data, I would just tether from my mobile to my laptop or whatever device needs the internet - works well and doesn't need a router.
Hi Vince, I have been looking all over the place for a video on how to configure the B535 router to port forward. Do you have any experience in this area, cheers and keep safe.

How much is the areal that your brother fitted to the side of the house and where did he get it from? I live in the uk and that end result is much faster than what I get
when you take out the contract and they deliver the products. Do they only Deliver the SIM card and you have the buy the router separately or do you get both?
Thanks, for making a video on this, I have the Huawei Mobile Wifi (portable version), and having difficulty setting it up.How do you activate a new sim, as my phone takes nano sims but the mobile wifi takes micro sim 🤔
It's in the title, "for Beginners" A beginner wouldn't change the SSID or password, and most of those wouldn't even know that you could change the SSID.
I would actually like to see a HOW TO GET INTO REPAIR video showing all the tools and stuff you bought and what tools you use the most when trying to fix electronics.

Never put it on a window ledge if you can help it? Half your WiFi will be beamed out through the window. You need the signal to bounce back in. The kitchen ceramic tiles will be putting all the signal back into the room and not losing some out put into soft walls, carpets, soft furnishings etc, etc.

Really interesting video..... Maybe I never need this information, but you never know🤷♂️
I'm on three and have got unlimited data, I would just tether from my mobile to my laptop or whatever device needs the internet - works well and doesn't need a router.
Great video Vince.
Hi Vince, I have been looking all over the place for a video on how to configure the B535 router to port forward. Do you have any experience in this area, cheers and keep safe.
Not my sort of video vince but I'll give you a like as I know how much you need them at the mo!

Does the broadband work without putting the micro sim in mate , and thanks for that
No you have to put a SIM card in it
Did anyone else get a questionnaire on the homepage of CZcams about MyMateVince channel? I ticked everything in there survey that was relevant. E.g, enjoyment, fulfilling, etc. So I hope it helps Vince!
Can you do more wii u videos i know the console is old and not liked so much but a lot of people are getting in to retro gaming and some wii u stuff would be interesting
Amazing deal on the service and the Router. Thanks for sharing this Bud!
I wish I knew about this sooner! I bought a phone just for wifi and it is awful. I'll definitely try this out.
Good work Vince
How much is the areal that your brother fitted to the side of the house and where did he get it from? I live in the uk and that end result is much faster than what I get

Very helpful
hi i see you had shadow on your little computer does the three router handle the speed or not just asking ?
when you take out the contract and they deliver the products.

I Know You Are Going To Do More Videos Of This Type, But I Still Love Your Work And Support You! Peace Brother!
you could have shown how to change the ssid and password to make it the same as the previous modem. But it was a very interesting video.
It's in the title, "for Beginners"
A beginner wouldn't change the SSID or password, and most of those wouldn't even know that you could change the SSID.
great how to Vince.long may you continue!
Thsnk you!! Very good
I remember when 3Mbps was nothing but a pipe dream 😁
Sweet
I would actually like to see a HOW TO GET INTO REPAIR video showing all the tools and stuff you bought and what tools you use the most when trying to fix electronics.
very detailed! nice one Vince
I love "how to" content ! One time my disc stuck on my Fat Xbox One, and what? I found every possible model how to eject disc on "My Mate VINCE" channel :)
yeah i discovered this channel because of a how to video
Never put it on a window ledge if you can help it? Half your WiFi will be beamed out through the window. You need the signal to bounce back in. The kitchen ceramic tiles will be putting all the signal back into the room and not losing some out put into soft walls, carpets, soft furnishings etc, etc.
Vince, I’m intrigued by the loft speed being low. Did the builders fit that insulation with tin foil outer wrapper by any chance?
multipath does weird things
