    I am currently 39 weeks and 4 days... and Im due on Christmas Day (Which is Monday of Next Week)!! I have been given tips from my obgyn to that are supposed to help me go into labor naturally. At my 39 week appointment on Tuesday my doctor wanted me to have a membrane sweep and I politely declined. I am only 1.5 -2cm dilated and 50 % effaced.... I has been the same since 37and 38 weeks. This is my second pregnancy! I am going for a VBACK. My doctor has a successful rate for VBACKS! which is great news! I have 3 more days left until baby Girl arrives 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💞💞💞💞💞

      Update: I had my baby at 40 weeks and 1 day🥰🥰🥰 she was born on December 26 2023 @ 4:50 pm !!! She was 9lbs 😍🥰🥰🥰 I wasn’t able to have a vaginal birth … doctor was concerned and stated “I could have a uterine tear” so I choose to have a c-section. However I laboured for 24 hrs before getting my c-section. The pain aka contractions I tell you was horrible but it was all worth it in the end because my baby girl is healthy and strong💕💕💕🥰🥰🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 I’m 5 weeks postpartum and my little one will be 2 months old on February 26,2024.

    Hi mentor, hope you’re doing ok, currently I’m 18 weeks pregnant. My obgyn gave me ondansetron odt 4mg tablets for nausea and vomiting. They told me to take 4 times a day but I’m taking only 1 everyday. Is it ok for the baby ? I heard It will effect the baby 😨

    • @TheMaternityMentor
      @TheMaternityMentor  Před 2 lety +3

      Thanks for asking. So , Ondansetron is a controversial medicine. Anecdotally, there are stories that it increases the risk of birth defects in babies. However, studies have not shown this to be the case. Nausea and vomiting are a tricky thing. I personally had hyperemesis gravidarum and required the use of Ondansetron. However, this was before I was a nurse and I wasn't aware of other options. I would definitely try to utilize natural remedies like ginger and Vitamin B6. Additionally, you and your healthcare provider need to gauge how bad the nausea and vomiting are. If you are requiring IV fluids or hospitalization, you should be taking the medication. If it is bothersome and making you feel miserable but overall your baby is ok, see how much you can tolerate. It really is a balance.
      Here is a link to the video I did on hyperemesis gravidarum: czcams.com/video/nG61976DQvQ/video.html
      Check it out and feel better!

      I have taken Ondansetron with both my pregnancies due to HG and both have been perfectly healthy. There was 1 study suggesting it cause a heart defect, but it was within the normal range for defects (what naturally occurs). Did Ondansetron cause the defects? Or was it already naturally to happen?
      When seen in practice the vast majority of women who have taken Ondansetron have healthy babies.
      I asked 4 different doctors in all there years of prescribing Ondansetron to pregnant women did they babies have defects? They all said no.

    My doc is wanting me to have a c section due to a prior shoulder dystocia. They said if she’s 7lbs I can deliver her vaginally. The problem is I’m only 33 weeks and she’s already almost 6 pounds. I asked to be induced around 37-38 weeks if she is 7 pounds so I can push her. They said they can’t do that. So I’m wanting to induce myself so I can push her out. But not until I’m at least 37 weeks.

    • @TheMaternityMentor
      @TheMaternityMentor  Před rokem +1

      I appreciate your concerns. Coming from experience, every previous shoulder dystocia that tried to deliver naturally a second time was a disaster. Delivering at 37 weeks is premature. The baby's brain hasn't finished developing and this can lead to breathing and sugar issues. Please research this carefully. I am sending you love and light and healing thoughts.

      Did you end up having a c-section? I am happy that it is common in the Netherlands to not have a c-section this quick. I had shoulder dystocia with my second, but they only advised me to be induced at 38 weeks. I plan to be induced at max 40 weeks, so I always have a say in this. They don't like to advise c-sections in this case, as they don't know the exact reason it happened. They only strongly advise you to not birth at home, but in the hospital (in the Netherlands we often birth at home, around 25% of all births).

      It’s crazy reading all these comments cause my friends doctor induced her at 36 weeks due to bby being so small.. doesn’t make sense I don’t know full story but her bby was 5 lbs and he’s doing great now he’s a big chunky baby and he’s been healthy since he came out. I do believe they can induce you they just don’t be trying to they always want it their way which is stressful bcs we all know how tuff a c section sounds so I feel u. I’m suffering from spd have lots of pelvic pains and can’t walk as much so if they can’t induce me I’m definitely going to try all these bcs my births have all passed 40 weeks and I’m 35 weeks now and can barley get up to do basic things which makes me feel bad bcs I have a toddler and a dog and I should be able to get up without all these pains and hip joint that pop everytime I walk. If my doctor doesn’t help me I’m done officially going to the app cause they do not understand how overwhelming this is all for us to talk and they literally don’t help at all or little to no help most of the times.

    • @TheMaternityMentor
      @TheMaternityMentor  Před rokem +4

      Thanks for asking! Usually not. Unless your life is threatened, they will avoid early induction because your baby's brain continues to develop until 39 weeks. A lot of that development is related to glucose to metabolism, suck/swallow coordination, and breathing. Without that development, your baby is at risk for problems at birth that could result in ICU admission. Feel better!

Unfortunately, your stuck in a situation many women all over the world are in, including in the U.S. I have seen women not show up for their C/S only to end up with complications with their baby. I would ask your healthcare provider if he is willing to hold off your C/S for 3 more days. After that, if he will not let you deliver naturally, you need to have the C/S because the baby should come sooner than later. I am sending you love and light and healing thoughts.
