FZ-Calm and FZ-Rush are the latest additions to our puzzle lubricant collection! Designed by a cuber/chemist named Freddie (aka FZ), these lubes contain no silicone, and instead use a hydroxy base. Our goal was to create lubes that have an extremely soft and smooth feel, are easy to clean up,
and will last for a long time. In this video, Phil uses Calm and Rush in 4 new and popular 3x3s to show what they can do.

Angstrom lubes + FZ rush is honestly the new Angstrom setup for me. It works very similarly to DNM (some cases better) and lasts longer. I've also found that rush alone can totally work on sone cubes, its my preferred setup on the YS3
Would love to see a discussion of the best way to clean out old lube. I wonder if the chemist could explain what it is we're up against.
Stanley Chapel told me that Chris Tran told him that mineral spirits were a very good way to clean out silicone lube from your cube.
Personally, a paper towel has been very effective in cleaning out my cubes, when needed.
@@GenTheSnail Thanks. I would be afraid to try traditional mineral spirits, but might try it on a sacrifice cube. "Environmentally friendly" mineral spirits could be tried too, but again, on a sacrifice cube.
I usually use some IPA with very stubborn lube
@@romanlubij52 Thanks. That's what I've been using. I've even verified that silicon lube dissolves in IPA, or at least appears to. Still, I'm paranoid. I've also tried window cleaners, assuming they'd leave no residue. And, I've tried kitchen cleaners followed by water to remove residue. So, I'd really love to see commentary from a proper chemist. Thanks again.
@@TesserIdthe chemistry comes down to two factors; solvent polarity and reactivity with the type(s) of plastic/metal parts that make up the cube. Silicone oil has a neutral polarity, so it can generally only be dissolved by non-polar solvents. Isopropyl alcohol is slightly non-polar and totally inert with the materials of any cube. You could literally dunk your cube in a bucket of 99% IPA and no damage would occur, it’s chemically impossible. Mineral spirits (classic paint thinner) are more strongly non-polar and they dissolve the silicone better, but its become harder to get in many states over recent years. There’s definitely better options but you’d have to be checking what materials your cube is made from and verifying their reactivity with your chosen solvent, which doesn’t sound like something you want to take any chances with, understandably so.
Long story short, I didn’t major in chemistry but I’m a mathematician and we learn the rudiments of chemistry in order to gain insight into applied mathematics. I definitely have enough insight on this topic to answer such a simple question, and I think you should keep using the isopropyl alcohol. Theres better options but they’re overkill and reactivity has to be accounted for. There’s zero chance anything could go wrong with IPA and it’s plenty strong enough for this application.

Did you use Calm on its own or combined it with something fast?
Can't wait for the Cubicle to turn these lubes into one of their premium setups. Also I think that the Cubicle should also sell their own "economy lubes". Yes I know that the Adheron/Lubest series exist but they should still do it. Cubicle lubes with special effects is expensive at least for 10cc, they should make cost efficient lubes with special values.

I literally just cleaned my old rs3m 2020. Picked it up after coming home from school away and felt how slow and gunked it was.
Weight 5 and fz calm literally fixed my gan13... still if you're thinking of buying a gan get the 12 but like dam I really thought it was done for but fz is GOAT

I tried these lubes in 2 big cubes and so far they made my mgc 5x5 so fast and pillowy. The mgc 7x7 I put these lubes in isn’t as fast or as pillowy but I feel like these lubes might be amazing for big cubes
this should be the orange side premium setup (fz calm and rush, dnm, weight 5 in core)
The Fz Lubes sound interesting and seem better than DNM-37
So basically there's a Kalm lube
And then a PANIK lube
Very curious how these would feel with Angstrom lubes. Could maybe replace DNM-37 with one of these to get a more specific feel that's best for the cube

What's the difference between fz rush and dnm, fz calm and mystic? Also, will fz calm work well on big cubes? My 5x5 is really slow so will fz calm speed it up?

Yeah they had blue and green at nationals. I tried the green one and it was kinda like a mix of DNM and mystic, i did not see a orange one.
