This guy is so good!! It's so crazy how he can move so fast and well for his height. And his feel is awesome.
Medvedev is like an ultra powered old guy playing tennis.
His strokes are so unusual, never risky, and he rather building the point slowly, putting the opponent in a losing net. Plus he has amazing athletic skills and superb mental consistency, which makes it really hard for the opponent to break his rallys' inertia.
Moreover he has many counterplays in case his opponent is taking over.
That's a rare and difficult style of play right there, but if he can cope with the mental stress constantly, Medvedev might be one of the most threatening players in the near future.
Yeah, not so risky and building the point, but still he had 75 winner against rafa the other day, you kinda wonder how. His game is definitely eccentric and refreshing for me.
Furthermore, I think he has the mental game almost overturning rafa in a grand slam final being 0-2 down and his physical game is also on point given how he was on par with rafa in the fifth sets after gruelsome summer, I mean, if he stays away from injury and stays hungry as much as he is now, we are looking at a multiple time slam champion for sure
@@IVIagicful I noticed, and it was surprising. Many of those winners are the natural conclusion of his typical built up point, but I feel like he took more risks than usual, knowing that Nadal is the winner in a normal rally. Very wise choice (played amazingly) that led him really close to win. Many signals that he's going to be someone really soon.

Agreed. He's solidly a counterpuncher, almost as if he wants to see how long he can stretch out the point. If he could concentrate on dictating the momentum of the points and controlling his opponents more, he could be #1.

That's why he is successful I think despite the quirky style of shots he stays consistent, plays solidly and stays focused and tenacious ... as opposed to players in the next gen like Shapavalov (not trying to single him out) who's spectacular style of play but lack of consistency and error prone gameplay have overshadowed any progress they made

I really like seeing Medvedev play, just a bunch of relaxing rallies and stable shots.
He is more athletic than others, creates wide range of angles, has solid and firm control over the shots he plays. I think this makes him successful.
If Federer smiles and applauds, it's a god-level shot.

His shot doesn't look stronger than the opponent player.
But he has many points. It's so weird.
Solid consistency and tactical play style. Tennis is not that sport that you just win by power.
He has an almost pusher-tier defensive playstyle. He will wait until his opponent is unwilling to move, or makes a ridiculous mistake to end a point. Kinda cheap, but it works

I would say he’s much smarter than most of the players he comes up against. He doesn’t have the natural technique that a lot of top 20 or even top 50 players have but he knows his own game very well and plays to his strengths more than most.
Medvedev's style is really similar to Djokovic ones: consistency and brilliant

He just has that really well-prepared, well-calculated flat shot, especially from backhand, it's almost like sometimes you just can't do anything against it. Especially combined with that ridiculously good footwork for a 6'5 dude.

Ну не все ещё понимают каков на самом деле медведев) до меня дошло после пересмотреного матча с надалем, начал и другие смотреть, ну меня конкретно удивило как медведев играет, это классный игрок, он теннисный шахматист, а это очень здорово, тем более что это наш игрок он русский, и за ним будущие мирового тенниса, если будет прогресиравать
