- Hey look, we're on the Carnival Magic again! We sailed from December 16-23, 2017 on an altered Eastern Caribbean itinerary, visiting Amber Cove, Grand Turk, Nassau, and Freeport! (We originally had St. Thomas and San Juan on our voyage, but those stops were canceled after the tragic 2017 hurricane season.)
In this episode, we're back in Amber Cove, Dominican Republic and we're headed to Ocean World on an excursion booked through Carnival... Join us as we get attacked by birds, hear some loud sharks eating, see some sea lions, and Dee touches a dolphin!! :D

Omg you are making me change my mind on wanting to doing the Dolphin excursion. I did that in Mahogany Bay in Roatan, so I figure I can do something else while in Amber cove. I now need to talk my husband into it again lol. Dee looks amazing 👍🏼
We had a blast at Ocean World! And when we looked, it was cheaper to book through the ship than it was to try and get tickets directly through the place. Granted, you could probably book directly and go from open to close rather than the more limited time window of the official excursion, but we felt like we had plenty of time.
ParoDeeJay .. oh I would not dare book any excursion outside the ship. All excursions are bought thru Carnival. It’s safer that way. Yes I saw you guys had a blast. Thanks for sharing.

We had a blast! We also enjoyed the Vista, despite our fears that it might feel "too big" or "too crowded", but it never really did. We're doing a back-to-back on the Horizon in November, so we'll see once again how we like that Vista-class of ships.
Was the snorkeling including or did you have to pay?

I have a question about your tickets. Did it allow you to book a day pass and the encounter for the same time?
In my family, we have a baby, so will need a day pass, a 5 year old who wants to do the encounter and teens that want to do the VIP. It only shows one time, for each "excursion", which doesn't look like we could all arrive and depart at the same time.
When we booked it, they offered an encounter ticket which is what we bought Dee, and an observer day pass ticket which is what I got. Hopefully they’ve still got it noted as such. Hmm.
Amber Cove is in the Caribbean Sea?
Dominican Republic, so although I call everything “the ocean”, ha ha... technically Caribbean Sea, yes indeed!! :P

Been watching all of your cruise vlogs on the Magic all night haha going on the Magic this month on the 31st for spring break with my family and I'm really excited its my second Carnival cruise after the Valor being my first last year!

Dee, your dolphin pic was priceless! Well, it did have a price, but... Did you purchase that? We decided not to do an excursion in Amber Cove (in March), but I might change my mind now! How was the LIT, Jay? That's my drink of choice, for sure!
Yes, indeed! $15 USD for the single photo, but it was cool to have one. I took a video of the pricing sign inside the shop, and I forget what the package deals were. In our Nassau part later this series, the place we went was an all-or-nothing photo type place, which was a little sad that you couldn't buy individuals. Cheers to Ocean World for that, at least! Hah! And yes, in the very beginning of tomorrow's episode, I discuss my thoughts on the LIIT indeed... :D
Great videos! Qq for you... If you had a chance, would you have done the actual swim with the dolphins or was the encounter enough?
Thanks so much! I guess it just depends on the individual's level of confidence being in deeper water, and what you're after. The swim experience I believe was a longer time period in the water, and you can go out in deeper water and be pushed and pulled by the dolphins, etc. The encounter was plenty for our tastes though, since this was only our second time doing a dolphin interaction. You get the standard kiss/hug moments and a good bit of splashing. We may work up to fancier and longer interactions in the future though because those do look fun as well!! :D

Thanks so much! Hope you have a great cruise on the Magic!! :D We did the digital copy option, and actually I think that was the only choice. I don't remember if they even had a print option at the excursions!
Do you bring your own mask and snorkel?
We do! We have both a standard snorkel set and a full face mask. Dee uses both but prefers the standard overall since she likes to dive down on occasion. The full face has a lot of pressure if you try to dive too deep.
