    Tamashii is a cyberpunk adventure board game with a post-apocalyptic vibe. Players will struggle to survive and pursue their agendas in two worlds at the same time - the physical one, filled with deadly machines and merciless human survivors, and the virtual one, prowled by tracking software and vicious viruses.
    Players will try to achieve their goals on a modular city map. They will find new locations, fight against strong enemies and search for important information and files needed to win the game.

    4.5 - Love this game! At the same time missing something that would make it a 5. Could be hard to table, lacking variability, a little light, etc.
    4.0 - Really great game, almost always keeping, although has meaningful complaints as to what takes away from the experience.
    3.5 - Really enjoyed, don't love it, may lose out to better games but the idea of never playing again is a bit sad.
    3.0 - A good game, would play and suggest with the right people, if I never played it again wouldn't lose any sleep.
    2.5 - A game I'd play again , but will never suggest it myself
    2.0 - A game I don't want to play again
    1.5 - A game I can't find any reason to recommend
    1.0 - A game that is just bad.

    I just have to say at the start of the video where you disclose your past financial relationship with the developer is refreshing. This is one of the many reasons as to why your videos are continually watched by me. You are the only CZcamsr I know of that could say, “trust me on this one.” and I would believe you.
    So in short thank you for your honesty. In the world we live in today honesty is a rare quality. Keep up the good work!

    Personally I find this game super interesting. Been very interested since I got the Book from The Great Wall. Like the tiles, minis and decoding with campaign. I’m actually ok if this is a little less complex due to fact that it maybe easier to get to table with my game group. Will be a day one backer.

    Looks like the puzzly aspect and the lightish weight of game is tingling my interest, it is not for everybody I see, but it definitely is for me, and surely many others. I was actually hoping for it to be not too challenging, easy to bring to the table and to teach.
    Very interested to see how this game will evolve during the campaign 😀

    Thanks for the review Alex. I was interested in adding this game to my collection because of the (unique to me) theme and the minis (again like nothing in my painted collection). Totally put off by the game play mechanics and overall faff that appears to be involved. Possibly a case of concept not meeting reality when it comes to game design? I wonder if it’s possible they postpone and rework this so it is improved? Also wonder about something like this trying to be ‘all things, to all people’ by offering solo, co-op campaign and pvp. Me thinks that might be just spreading things to thin so that in the end none of them work that well.

    Whats funny this is the First time were an Awakened Realms game doesn't have mini's for the enemies, were it looks like the enemies having mini's would help the game. Many previous titles of theirs had tons of mini's for enemies, but those enemies rarely came out.

    Maybe I missed it but did you touch on the fact that this is an Awaken Realms Lite game? While I don't think that being termed a light game is in anyway negative, I'm curious to see what the the perception of the game is and what it ends up actually being. When I 1st heard about this game, it was an instant buy. I love the theme. I love AR. Hands down the best thematic+game play game company out there. That said, I worry about the the longevity of this game based on what I've seen so far. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of content from what I can tell, but I wonder if the game play will stay interesting. Knowing that this is in their lite series and not their main line like Nemesis, Great Wall, etc. I'm hesitant to do dive in

    • @BoardGameCo

  • @Tharukan
    @Tharukan Před 2 lety +1

    Honestly, I did not get anything from the Gameplay overview part.
    Is this a coop or a competitive game? How do you win? Is this a programming game or is the name "Programming phase" just thematic and the use of the word is a bit confusing? What is that giant mountain of tokens and how do you actually build your bag? Why would I want to increase my Firewall, what does that do? What is that third metric being measured on the board? Am I only trying to get matching colors in the programming game and if so, why wouldn't I just get one color in the bag building over and over?
    Just a few of the questions I had during that part. Don't know if it's me being tired, the game, or your overview, but really, I feel like I know about as much about how this game works as I knew before watching.

    • @silvarknite7
      @silvarknite7 Před 2 lety

      So in Japanese you start each syllable with a consonant. So you would see Tamashii , meaning 'Soul' and want to try and pronounce it in 3 syllables . Ta-Ma-Shii. The game page says it this way. However in the word Tamashii, the Shii is silent. So the word is pronounced as Tama, or Ta-Ma
      I do not know why shii is silent, only that it is in this context XD

    Is this going to be the biggest flop of 2022? I think it might be. Not that it won't fund or that they won't make bank with it, but compared to the hype behind it, I feel like it's gonna fall flat. I was interested for a long run, but after seeing the first few videos about it, I feel like I've seen this game 10 times this year already. There seem to be nothing new and interesting. It's like Unsettled, but with a different theme and a little bit of a different puzzle as to how you manage your turns, but overall, I don't get why I would need this one over any other hexagonal hidden map modular scenario-based game from the last 2 years.

    So this might sound super dumb at first but Awaken Realms games (Nemesis in particular) are all pretty weak in terms of gameplay. It seems like each game they put out has 1000 different mechanics and none of them synergize with each other well if at all. The games seem more focused on how “cool” everything looks rather than how fun they are to engage with. However, I do like how thematic everything is and how well made the components are so I personally have a few AR games that I simply home-brew the rules for and they are actually fun to play as a result. Home brewing rules for my board games is something I do any way regardless of how good the core rules are or not. However, home-brewing AR games is a lengthy task and something that will take several hours to do but I think it’s worth it if you have the mind for it.
