A good pair of gloves is a must, I haven’t owned a heated pair but my snowmobile gloves have little pouches for hand warmers in them and wow do those work a treat!
I like the fingerless mittens I used to have a job where I was outside the entire shift in all weather and I always liked having quick access to my fingers. A heated pair would of been really nice!
Mountain bike is a generic term. I am riding my Specialized Fat Boy these days. The 5 inch wide tires float on snow and track well on ice. Then I have a range of bikes from a Yeti Turq SB13 to a Specialized carbon Epic Expert, to a Kona full carbon Major Jake gravel bike. and then some road bikes and commuting bikes, a fat wheel tandem, and some classic vintage bikes including a balloon tire 1938 BF Goodrich (Schwann) that was a hand-me-down to my dad. I'm hoping to do more bikepacking this summer and just noticed that there is a 250 mile trail across Bhutan that just opened after 60 years of closure. Seems mountain bikes can do it so that's on my list.
Doc, Off topic, but do you have any Koken stuff? I bought one of their 3/8" ratchets a while back that's become my 'daily driver'. Picked up a 1/4" as well, but it's so far seen little use. Quality looks very good, & their low ratchet 'back drag' is likely industry leading.

I hope you can answer these two questions for me: 1) Can the button that is on the battery be easily turned off and on with a gloved hand without removing it from its pocket? 2) Does the battery drain when in the 'on' position even if you have not pushed the glove button 'on'? Hope my questions are clear. Thanks again.
Hi. I'm not sure I understand your first question. There is no button on the battery. The battery connects to the gloves and each glove has a button you press. The buttons on the glove are easy to operate with the gloves on, or even pressing the glove against something. I have not found any noticeable battery drain when not on. However, I disconnect the batteries when storing the gloves, or traveling with them in a duffle like I did over hunting season. Mine are still going strong. Thanks for asking.

I bought a pair and they didn't work. Came with either outdated instructions or batteries because nothing worked as indicated. Both gloves rapidly flash green with one slower than the other. Going back for a different brand.
Mittens are great if you don't need dexterity. These gloves might work quite well for Winter paragliding but I'm curious how far the heating element goes to the end of the finger, if I have a brake line wrapped around my first two fingers for a while will it stop heat getting to my finger tips?
@@sandy_knight Unless you cut off the circulation, you should be in much better condition with these gloves since the rest of your hand is not loosing heat as well. However, if you are cutting off your circulation with a line around you fingers, I'm not sure what that would do to the heating element in the glove. Any chance you could use a handle of some sort rather than a wrapped cord?
@@lastbesttool We do have a handle on each brake line but sometimes it gives you more control to take a wrap of line, it depends on your brake line travel as well. The other issue is that your hands are above your shoulders, exposed to the sir-flow (35-50kph) for most of the flight, which could be several hours. There are a few paragliding specific heated gloves available and they generally make a feature of it (the heating going all the way to the finger tip). Edit: Of all the parts of the hand/glove the fingertips have the highest surface area to volume ratio so will loose heat most quickly, especially in situations where you can't put your hands in your pockets or protect your hands from the airflow in any meaningful way. BTW, I'm not trying to criticise your review or even the product, just pointing out a few features that you may or may not need in a heated glove... ;-)
My on and off on high mostly gets four hours or so. I have not run them solid on because they are too warm and my hands sweat. But you could easily get a day of low or med on and off.

Honesty, I have no Koken, no Capri, and no Tekton. I guess I don't get out much.
Do you have any recommendations for heated socks? That would take all the misery right out of cold mornings while hunting!

Gloves are okay when it's not super cold but I stick with my Wiggy's mittens when it's really cold.
