Love the sound of that 461. I have one just like it.
That's a big-ass tree, that's for sure. Great work -- and cheers from the states!

This is my second time watching this video and I just noticed the crane has different attachment points I think that's great

ok reread title credit yes LOTR Hobbiton and The Hobbit were filmed in the Matamata district on a private farm. If you are in the area check on the available tour to the actual movies sites, weel worth it for any LOTR fan

Those limbs should not be above you like that. I'd be yelling at that crane operator to put the crack down.

I agree with a comment below, love that tree , you don't see many that fill out like that. I know of two. One which I talked the owner in keeping , he thought it looked weak. But it was the opposite just like this one nice and healthy.
Why don't you use a rope wrench with you're hitch?
Great job. Looked Luke fun would of loved to do that one

hmm do not remember so many houses around the farm property where this LOTR movie was filmed in Matamata district

Correct, the movie filming sites are on private farms very close to where I am removing this Oak, many of them were planted at the same time all over the district.

Do they have any females that does this kind of work? do they have any jaws or clamps that you could used on the crain main line vice wrapping the rope or chain around the limb?

I read the book as soon as they came out. The movie did not interest me.

I wouldn't have cut that tree down unless it was diseased. Not because of limbs and acorns. Not my tree though

  • @jjj87484

Lol not sure where you live, but in Canada using a crane as an anchor point for rigging isn't legal. Even if you're rigging yourself. It's a hoisting device, not an anchor.

Work smarter not harder, why climb the tree when I can take a ride on the hook. It isnt illegal here.

@@NZarboristBryce I'm not disagreeing with your decisions, I'd probably do the same thing. However, it's sketchy at best.
But since you asked, it's a large part of your job to climb up the tree effectively and safely lol that's why not. But if it looks stupid and it works, it ain't that stupid.

I do the same stuff day in Day Out. I dare no more man to walk a day our shoes.. once you do then come talk to MRI or any of the other tree surgeons arborist around this world. Nobody would be alive if it was not for bees or tree.
