Put a 7×2 timber across, bolt two brackets each side so the timber sides up and down and it's easy to lift out for cleaning and that will keep the straw from being dragged out.
Phil you should put a board on the ground in front of the slats that will stop most of the straw being draged onto the slats and the pigs can just step over it
Congratulations on finally getting the piggery finished. Maybe a rubber mat at the back of the slats for lying on instead of the straw might work out better. Sheds are looking well after getting the bit of maintenance completed on them. Weather has turned very wet and land won't carry much heavy machinery or stock yet.
Some job made of the piggery, will make Liv and your job so much easier looking after them now
Great job Phil.
The very best of luck with the new piggery, I hope it's very lucky for you.
I have to admit I do enjoy a yard tidy up, great seeing bits and pieces getting done.
Keep it going 🍀
Brilliant use of the sign for a flap
Wonderfully all about the Piggies to night.Just love seeing the 🐷 Piggies 🐖 looked after so well by Farmer Liv and Phil .Don’t forget Valentine’s Day tomorrow. So going to get sat down and watch. So so good luck 😉.🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🧒🐖🐖🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷
You've made great improvements to the yard that should make it easier to feed, clean/scrape and move move stock.
Please show feeding on next pig update and also don't forget to place video in piggy playlist👍🏻
The piggery looks great, didn't see any feed troughs. Saw dust or rubber matting would be better than using straw if it's just going to end up being kicked over the slats and falling through
Good to see the old milking shed getting a new lease of life. Great to see livs venture taking off . best of luck 👍
Happy pig house.looking good..+. Keep on FARMING
Wow ! Ye all have been very busy . 🐷🐖🐽
Have a look at some specific seed mixes for the pig paddocks cottwolds seeds have a few i think
Great work in the shed and yard. The pigs will finish better in that shed.
Love them drinkers
That was great work with your Pig shed farmer Olive great work
Great video again Phil& Liv. Best of luck going forward.
Fantastic to see all the jobs being done around the place fair play to ye 👍😃
Bruce is a big lad. Very particular perfume!
I worked on a pig farm and we had throw brights concrete floors in the back with a fall out to the slats something like yours housing on half of farm but the sick pins 2 out of 16 we would put straw down but god what a job it was to get slurry out of them😮 every 2 years we had to lift slats and put bobcat down to clean it out we gave up straw and sick pigs did just as good on concrete
Hi Phil, it looks like the pigs have a nice place to live. The yard looks very nice and tidy, lots of jobs done now a load of bulls away things are looking good!
Nice to see the tdying ip jobs. It makes all the difference.
To prevent much straw going in the slats, drill a plank in the concret floor 2by4 should do it. Very cheap fix😊
The joys of having maintenance list, have a school lad who helps me, we have a list but it just has one word per job e.g fences or waterways, planting or tree/thistle removal, rubbish pick up. The list could become overwhelming if jobs for each paddock were listed. 36 paddocks some have less work others everything.
great stuff liv and phil
Yous did a fantastic job at converting to the pig slats. I would harldy know ot used to be a milking parlour in a previous life. Just curious would something like sawdust or wood chipping be any better for bedding the pigs than the straw. At least they shouldnt block the slats as badly or get stuck in the tank.
Lots of action going on.
Things are coming along nicely. Onwards and upwards
Famer phil that's a great video of the piggery martin flaherty
Great video Phil. Enjoyed watching 👍🏼
Put a timber across your pen to stop the straw from going on the slate
Evening!
Just wondering where are u going to be putting de pigs feed
Great to see the yard getting tided up. The piggery pens are awesome, Liv will love them. Hope ye get some nice quality time together though. All work and no play isn't good for the soul.
Great video Phil That’s some job done on the piggery 💪👌
Job well done 👏 ✔️ 👍
Grand piggery Phil you will have to give Burce a shampoo and wash 😂
Brilliant video 😊
Love the piggery great work 👏
Great video as always farmer Phil
If you put a 6×2 timer across the bedding it will keep it in.
Good stuff
Great stuff.
Good video as always
That a nice job now
Put a timber board between the straw and the slats so they don't drag it onto the slats. A big enough board so that they can't pull the straw out and so they can still get over it.
How's the plans for the farm shop looking. Good use of the old parlour. Always a great video
Ye have the place well tidy'd-up since I started watching its great to see I'm sure it's even better for ye and it make me want to pull the finger out round my place!😅
With the straw getting into the tank could you put a 4/5 inch board to hold it back, with our cows we have boards and it works well but could be different for pigs?
Harrington's for ur slates ⭐
👍
Can u not put a 6 inch timber or slightly wider timber across the back of the slats were they meet the straw bedding and then it might help keep the straw out of the slats.Keep the bedding below the timber.👍
Will you put rubber mat slats down in the pigger pens
Farmer Phil 🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷 for 🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩
What the name of the song used @6:14 in the video
Would sawdust not work better under the pigs? If the straw ends up in the pit
use rubber mats instead of straw
Will you have any hairy bacon??
👍👍👌👌🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪
Pigs don’t need straw
