8:05 The tachometer gauge is slightly crooked. Just letting you know
The sound of that Ferrari V8 is stunning.
I have a vehicle that you might be interested in. I messaged you on Facebook.
that ferraris horn is just odd, seems more like a horn from an old truck, or classic airhorn car
Keep the Merc. It'll be worth it. Add it to your collection of Mercedes cars.
Keep the 300SD, the sentimental value of it being the first CZcams car is more than enough reason. Toy with the Chevy then sell once you get tired off it and need to get rid of a car. No point in keeping that one if it’s not the same exact car you once had and tried to get back.
yea, i'd agree the merc has symbolic value but the roadmaster has content opportunity. I'd say dumping the roadmaster when he runs out of ideas is the... smart play?
@@jorgey4 I'm pretty sure he'd run videos on both regardless of which he keeps so I'd think that while the roadmaster would have more videos, he can fully enjoy it while making the videos and sell it once he's bored of it. One's likely to get bored of something if there's no personal attachment to it too. It would only depend on how much money he gets back if toying with the car ends up depreciating it instead of bettering it.
Then the wizard should buy it.
I totally agree.
@@Chris-hw4mq I'm certain there's gonna be a joke about magic Mike buying this roadmaster when they do the inspection vid for it.
I spent my younger years supporting numerous vehicle's with expensive mechanical needs.
When they were working properly, which wasn't that often, they were wonderful to drive.
When I was faced with a $20,000 bill to repair a BMW M5 I decided enough was enough.
If I didn't start to save money I was going to end up living in a cardboard box under a bridge in my retirement.
Since that shock I have purchased numerous bland boring cars that start and run every day and accumulate tens of thousands of miles with nothing more than maintenance.
I still watch Hoovie's videos and reminisce about the days I knew my mechanic so well I had to invite him to my wedding and include him on my Christmas list.
What was that $20k bill for on the M5? Also, which generation M5?
You're looking at this all wrong... You wouldn't be living in a cardboard box under a bridge in your retirement, you could sleep in the car. 😄
@@Melanie16040 probably M5 e60 with it's engine bearings replacements, that most mechanics wouldn't do, so they charge a engine swap.
There's a reason that the Wizard, and any sensible person, hates Big Money Wasters. They're lousy.
Same here!
Hoovie, that 300SD just has too much history for you to sell - it's almost like your SL in that regard. Regardless of what you do with the Roadmaster, you've gotta keep the Merc!
Totally agree.
Don’t sell it please Tyler! Keep her forever
I agree. That car has a lot of great memories/history for him (and for Car Wizard I might add). While the Roadmaster is great and would be more of a project for the channel, I think the 300SD should be kept just for the sentimental value.
Couldn't agree more
@@JulianWatsonThe400 I could see it sticking around for a few eps just to make content....there might even be more content potential in it than in the Merc. The Merc goes well beyond content though - it's probably not worth selling to fund something else, and it's got far too much sentimental value to sell. It's gotta become a permanent fixture, alongside the SL!
I LOVE the 300SD!! As a huge fan of old Mercedes diesels, I've been following your channel since the very beginning, Hoovie. DON'T sell the 300SD!!
I never liked the SD’s but love the TD’s, however the Alfa Romeo 164 is the pinnacle of obscurity.. and trumps the s class by sheer soul and character
@@supportdesk7703 The 300TD was the wagon. The 300SD was the saloon (longer sedan). The 300D was the standard sedan and the 300CD was the Coupe. I've owned about six of them, and they were all great.
@@supportdesk7703 why take the 164 when you could go for the saab 9000
@@rapu4 the Saab 9000 is also a very nice car.. but the left turning nuts.. drove me nuts.. so back in the nineties I briefly drove one.. quickly traded it for a Lancia Thema, subsequently a Kappa Coupe and a whole other bunch of other stuff;-)
Here's a solution: Keep the Roadmaster and sell the Merc to the Wizard. Keep it in the family!
That is the best solution. That Roadmaster is going to be cool with all the mods.
The 1st video i thought he should keep the merc, seeing how happy the merc made the wizard, yeah the wizard should have it
I was thinking the exact same thing!!!
@@herbiehusker1889 Make a hooptie version of Steve Morris Boostmaster II

Mercedes 300SD was our family car growing up. It was a Tank and, from what I recall, the most reliable and low maintenance car we owned. Sadly, a Ford truck with bumper bars rear ended us at a stop light going 40mph (according to the report)... rear end was beyond repair, but we did not suffer any injuries and were able to drive the car home.
Same thing happened to my grandpa's 280 SE some almost 20 years ago. It was rear-ended at around 50-60 km/h while stopped at a light and the rear end was beyond repair. Back then there was so many 126's they just went to a junkyard specialised in these cars and cut an entire back wall off a less fortunate w126. They replaced it, painted it and used the car for years before selling it.
I enjoy the mix of hoopties and dream cars. It is a awesome yin and yang relationship that I love.
Back in the 90s, a friend of mine had a Peugeot 205 which reached such decrepitude that the seat cloth gave way to reveal... straw! It was actually stuffed with straw. Those crazy French!
It's pretty common on old cars, my Trabant seats also have some straw stuffing besides some continously disintegrating orange foam...
One could argue that using horse hair or straw was way ahead of the time: they already used bio degradable materials!
Love to have seen this Bromance blossom over time. The fact that it’s based on their love for cars makes it even better.
Hoovie, Wizard, you are awesome people and I love your content. Great job. Much appreciated.
That F355 is sweet!🔥
Hoovie and the Car Wizard, I can tell that they have great respect for each other. You can tell that they have a great friendship, you can’t beat that.
Still one of the best sounding engines ever made.
The Benz Diesel 💪🏻Yes
I get you want the wagon, but keep the diesel, its attached to way too many "firsts", and don't let it turn into that "I wish I had kept it" later in life :P
Keep it around So it doesn’t turn into one of those “I wish I’d kept it” later in life again haha
The smashed up 3 series breaks my heart. Rebuilt one of those a couple of years ago and it was a great little car.
an M3 no less, those are amazing cars
I get that but at the same time, its not a good example of the car or Hoovie would have trie to fix it.
@@DeatGaming Then just part it out to a breaker’s yard. Smashing it up is idiotic.
The MB "safety cone" door latches have a white plastic bumper in the body striker. Replace the plastic insert or the whole striker and the door will shut like magic.
Damn I miss my ole 420SEL. Chocolate interior and a copper exterior. Oh man what a smooth operating machine. Was minnnnt. And retained all of the Mercedes leather smell. Even had a electric reclining rear.
Ok your 420 was unique as the electric rear seat was usually only on the 560sel. I love my 560 sel and my 5 speed manual 300sel! W126 for life!

If you decide to keep the Mercedes (which I think you will), crank up the fuel pump and the turbo boost a bit. It's really easy to get more than 150 HP from that engine.
What for? It will still be utterly slow on acceleration, barely faster than in stock form. The only logical thing to do to an OM617 is to put a 5-speed Getrag manual behind it so that it can at least cruise at higher speeds comfortably.
@@pandras8312 What for? Because it'll make the big Merc much nicer to drive. Torque will be improved quite a bit too.
5 speed gearbox is a good idea anyhow.
I really appreciate you continuing to promote The Wizard. I hope he gets all the credit that's coming to him. He is truly an excellent mechanic. His team is also top-notch.
Love the Merc...hoping you keep both..& have some fun with the Roadmaster & Jeebus the 355 sounds amazing.
that glorious engine sound makes it almost worth the hassle & the expense
It's why e cars will never be cherished without a decent sound they are soul less boxes
I agree with Wizard. Keep the Merc.
I love that Car Wizard and Hoovie are such good friends!
The 355 sounds glorious!
I had no idea I had been following you since almost the beginning. Looking back I started watching 4 or 5 videos in, it's amazing how far you and the wizard have come.
I like how Tyler still acts like he's surprised. :D He knows damn well his pockets are getting emtied.
Get the wizards input on how he would build the 300 d and possibly suprise him with the car after it’s done as a monument to your friendship then that leaves you with the road master to do as you wish with so it’s a win win situation plus look at how sentimental the wizard is with the car i mean come on it would make his day

The great thing about the wizard is his Outlook on how to work on anything. At the end of the day, it's all just nuts, bolts, & a bunch of wiring. If someone else was able to put something together or service it, there is absolutely no reason I shouldn't be able to
I took another break from videos about hoovies videos. I now binge watching them to please my night. hoovies driving cars i want, new news about things, Wizzard making love to a mercedes. i appreciate these.
Tyler, my father had a 1982 300SD Turbo Diesel, same color as yours, I really enjoyed driving that car in my younger days, I also took my girlfriend now wife on dates with it. I think it was the first year for that body style. 👌 Keep it.
It makes me so happy to see Hoovie and Wizard re-united with their w126 loves. Once you own a 1-2-6 you'll always want one.
I may be a touch drunk (very drunk) but when he asked if wizard was getting emotional I got emotional. I realized I've been watching since around when he sold this car and it tripped me out for a second. Glad to keep supporting you all these years man, there's nobody more entertaining I'd give my time to.

I actually owned a manual w126, factory built. It was a right hand drive, Gibraltar sold car. It was a 300SE, 1987, with air conditioning and leather seats but a manual transmission, very strange spec and ultimately not desirable!
What a sound from that Ferrari and what a lovely Merc. I'd have both in my drive.
IT’s amazing the interactions between this dúo thank you both for all the great content
Hoovie please for guy like me who are deathly afraid of buying a Merc or a BMW that is older because of all the issues and high cost of repair. I would love to see some videos comparing common repair work on those cars vs what repair work is common on domestic cars as in a price comparison
Older mercs are super easy and logical to work with. And reliable.
KEEP THE MERC!!!! That thing is so cool 😎
Get rid of that junky Roadmaster. That thing is a turd. Too much to fix.
I agree with The Wizards beat down of the BMW. (Break my wallet) You must keep the Mercedes-that should be enshrined in your garage.
