It’s safe to say mma has really evolved, because the ability to not get tired is becoming a really important skill to stay at the top.
I was thinking the same thing with how important power is becoming. I feel like the technique is so good at the top of every division that physical attributes are maybe becoming important in every fight

Towards the end, when he hoisted Cejudo up and walked him across the ring. He could have really hammer dropped him hard, but he threw him forward with half power. To me, he is more of a man for showing restraint on a withered opponent when not needed.
I don't wanna see Volk rematch Ilia because I think it wouldn't be any different but if he really does it he should take like 6 months off to recover at least
But Volk is way too hungry(sadly) to take a necessary rest
I legit couldn't believe merab looking the exact same as he did in the first when the fight ended. No heavy breathing or no signs of fatigue after two rounds of straight grappling against Henry Cejudo. What a fighter
A part of getting old is not having the same output in regards of the Henry and merab fight he looked great but a younger Henry could’ve kept that up for the 3 rounds

You may be right, but based on what I saw in Saturday with Merab straight dog walking Cejudo, I would argue that there is no way Henry would be able to keep up with Merab. The dude drowns everyone, and Henry has never really been the cardio king, even in his prime.
The only thing that can counteract the pain of the Volk KO is Merab bending tripple C over the knee. If O'Malley beats Merab the MMA gods have truly abandoned us.

Such a great card. Was really impressed with all the winners on the main card, except for Garry.
What wasn't impressive to you? Garry outboxed one of the hardest hitters in the division and came out without a scratch on him. Shavkat died, went to another dimension, and came back all against that same opponent. Just because you dislike Garry doesn't mean it wasn't impressive. It wasn't fight of the year but so what? I agree with that, but despite that being said, we also have to acknowledge that this level of skiping and running away is not frequent, so when it happens it's a bad look.
Especially with that height and reach advantage.
It's like, you could employ that reach like Jon jones, and he did early on with the kicks, but then he used it defensively
This fight has similar physical aspects like Jones vs Rampage but the latter fight shows a good example of using height and reach advantage aggressively

And it was a pain in the ass, u need to keep down, feint upper cuts, knees, etc. Volk literally stand in front of him like it was nothing. Its even worse when we can see how Ilia exposes his lower body so much with his counters, a good wrestler can take advantage of that, jus like Bryce did with the single leg takedowns, but he just have no gas tank.

Interesting I thought the stigma was that Whittaker was winning the 1st until the wheel kick. Imo I liked Whittakers performance but it was scary asf when he got into the phone booth knowing his chin and especially after the wheel kick. But I was very impressed w Whittaker’s chin the blitz and his boxing looked much more crisp. Maybe not as clean of a fight but I think it was a good showing. He utilised his blitz extremely well paired w his blitz his ability to counter was very good. But what was scary to me was his willingness in the pocket. I wish Costa gets back in the quick he looked he impressive tbh I hope he gets back in there Costa is very good when he is switched on

I agree, im still high today off adrenaline, best card in ages. My multi bet come in, won $350 off $50. This card was easy picks though. Merab performed great, i loved that fight, Merab wants it bad, Merab has great energy. Whitiker/Costa was technical, not very exciting, not boring, but not exciting, no man really went for it. Neil/Gary was terrible, Gary keeps telling everybody how good he is yet continues to put on snooze-feasts for the crowd. I wonder what the crowd would be like for the Colby/Gary fight. I dont think Colby will take it though. Toporia has a fantastic style. Mcgregor had a karate boxing style whilst Toporia has a tyson-esk, hands up, chin down, movement all from his waste sort of boxing style. Topoiria style is a fan favourite style. Dern vs lemon was an entertaining fight imo. Not the most technical but dern showed a lot of heart and it made it exciting to me.
Whittaker and Costa both have proven their KO ability with their puches and kicks, but they fight top 5 Middleweights in a very stacked division.
Saw the same thing with whittiker - still did the blitz but really wanted to stay in the pocket this time. Too bad he couldnt get the damging shots he was looking for

To be honest cejudo I think broke his forearm at the second round he couldn't break merabs grip which is eazy to do if you're a basic wrestler and then got ragdolled that injury I think stopped henry from wrestling merab.
I think Whittaker decided to stand in boxing range with Costa to try and take away those body kicks. It worked, but I don’t think he expected Costa’s jab to be as good as it was.

Merab puts himself in danger for O’Malley to crack him bad. One of those knees is coming early to set the tone or maybe to finish the fight.
I wonder if Whittaker’s legs might be gone. We won’t find out until his next fight but he has been fighting at a hellish pace for the past 7 years he might be slowing down.
Chinny chin whittaker definitely should have gone down to that kick, but both are pillow limbed so it was funny seeing them trading so hard but not really being in trouble throughout the fight. Happy that costa showed up though. Never a boring fight with him.
