  • This video discusses studying to become a Civil Engineering Draftsperson or Civil Engineering Technician.
This course has become increasingly popular recently. Mainly because it can skill you in an occupation that:
    • is in very high demand (both are actually on the MLTSSL)
    • pays well
    • Doesn’t require you to study at a bachelor level (cheaper)
    • Only takes 2 years to complete
    • May allow you to obtain a graduate work visa upon completion
It is a good option for someone who doesn’t want to study a trade.
    --
What does a Civil Engineer Draftsperson or Technician do?

Civil engineering technologists assist civil engineers in the research, design, construction and maintenance of civil engineering projects.
Throughout the course you will gain knowledge of drafting and modelling structural, environmental engineering, project management and estimating skills.
Typical projects that you could work on in these occupations include houses, large buildings, railways, roads, bridges. You could find employment working in engineering, mining, construction, government and several other industries.

There are a few places where you can study this course including Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne. Each course is a little different, but quite similar in content.
    - The course goes for 2 years with intakes in July and January.
    - Each year is divided into 2 semesters. So you would start at the end of Jan finish in Mid June. Holidays for a few weeks. Then start back up in mid July finish at the end of November. Have about 2 months holiday, then start again the next year
    - The course is quite challenging. Often attending class 3 or sometimes 4 days per week. So if you are looking for an easy, relaxing course. This is not for you.
    Requirements:
    - You must have completed Secondary School

I had a quick look and most of the courses with similar keywords were of only 12 months. Could you please suggest courses which will fall in this category. Can it be a combination of diploma (3 semesters) + advance diploma (1 semester) in Civil Construction Design????

I have done bachelor in civil engineering....So my question is that what is the best course for masters or post graduate diploma ??? Should I stick with civil engineering courses or move to some other courses or management course which are in pretty much in demand in job perspectives?? As I got a rumour that as a civil engineer it is very hard to get a job after completion of the course..So do please help me to guide in selection of the course and also do you help in getting jobs after completion of the course alongwith a option to get a pr??..

Hi, I would recommend at a masters level as you can't get a temporary graduate work visa after you study a post grad diploma

some migration agent says civil draftsperson do not need skill assessment to lodge 491. is it true??

    • @Pathwaytoaus
      @Pathwaytoaus  Před 2 lety

That is 100% inaccurate. You always need a skill assessment to lodge a 491 visa.
