Honestly, the commercials section on Vimeo is like TikTok for DoPs. It’s so good!
Thank you wandering DP for always providing the videos I didn’t know I needed!
I wanna see you explaining a shot of a christmas tree.
prolly the best comment
Thank you Patrick for putting the time and effort into all your videos and podcasts. Learned a ton!
Man I love your work so much!
Only one Feedback I got: You always only talk about the light, shooting into shadow etc.
Could you bring other aspects of filmmaking a bit more into it? Like camera movements, Composition, Angles and more? I know you always say we create depth etc but maybe in more detail, just like you describe the lighting aspect?
Thanks for all the value you put out man, really really appreciate it.
what is talking about is the Hardest. So if you understand it, camera movement are not a piece of cake
Wandering DP gives really valuable information, that's indeed hard, but also crucial for other cinematographers and camera operators. And I don't see such content anywhere else on YT (maybe indy mogul, but it's more Pop). I strongly advise to watch StudiBinder "Ultimate guide to movement", and simply read a good photography book even like "Read This If You Want to Take Great Photographs" by Henry Carroll, who shows great examples of composition, shot types, and angles that you might want to know about. I tend to believe that such aspects of cinematography can be understood much easier than lighting.
i Will even prefere a static shot with a good lighting than movment and non cinematic lighting
Been listening to the podcast for about a year and I can't thank you enough for these video breakdowns. This is a service to the community!
Loving your videos. Such attention to detail! Thanks for doing these
Another great video Patrick, thanks for these :) !!
So dope! Such a simple idea that makes all the difference
I have been watching a lot more of you lately. I genuinely hop onto CZcams to just watch through your videos and I think you have some of the best, most useful, well conveyed content on this platform. I have watched A LOT of cinematography CZcamsrs and I’m constantly learning more and more from you. Although you talk about a lot of the same stuff, I think it’s great because it drills it into my brain and next time I go to shoot I remember it all and can actually utilise it. It’s also obvious you know what your talking about and it makes me value your opinion so much more! Thank you!!!!!
This is by far my favourite channel on CZcams! Been waiting for years for content like this! Kudos
love your work man! keep it up
Great explanation Patrick. Please keep the awesome going!
Incredible break down as always. Your videos have helped me improve SO MUCH and I can’t thank you enough!
insanely amazing! tks for these man!
These videos are gold
Perfect timing!
You are an inspiration, thank you!!!!
Would you be able to talk about the downsides and workarounds with shooting in the virtual sets? I've seen a lot about the positives but nothing on the drawbacks. Love the channel! Glad you're back to posting on CZcams regularly!
thank you for your videos!
Patrick, again can't thank you enough for this.
Mercedes Benz: In the long run!! would love for a breakdown of the cinematography!
loving the breakdowns! could you do a video on Max Goldman's "Ralph Lauren Blue" commercial?
cheers
Your videos make me late for work😁😁😁
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was expecting you to show us some kind of thing with the Leica in the preview

What do you exactly refer to when say 'Framework' ?
How old were you when you first entered the film industry? (or knew you wanted too)
Camera using for youtube?
👍
What do you mean when you say “the framework”?
I have a same question
The dark low key look.
So is the light on the guy standing on the bus just bounced natural light or an actual light diffused?
No one can really tell. But he was suggesting it was lit, as diffused lighting.
Looks lit (not bounced) to me, I don't think there's enough level coming through the windows to produce that hot of a key on his face.
It is definitely lit. I think I said that in the video. There is a light in the bus
@@wanderingdp thanks brother 🙏
What do you mean by "framework"
A basic structure underlying a system, concept, or text.
Super insightful stuff as usual!
I'd love to see a breakdown on this commercial for the Land Rover Defender starring John Mayer, and mostly about how they're dealing with all the green light bouncing around everywhere in the forest.

Woo Hoo! A new one! Thanks man! This is great stuff as always! How about doing a quick vid on this one: czcams.com/video/Znr8UtvvlzM/video.html it's only 30 seconds. I posted this link on one of your olds ones, but maybe you missed it. At the 0:03 mark, there is a bright light used for lighting. In reality that shouldn't be shown, but it makes the shot look interesting. Can you explain why they left it in the shot other then to make it look cool. And maybe go over some of the other lighting aspects. Thanks!
