    Great timing, just put down for one and some NB-4 radio modules. Also loving those tyres.
    I had wondered how much of an improvement the MA-030 would be but after seeing you drift and mention how tight it turns i am sold. it is worth mentioning that this uses the 5 gear servo system from the MR-03 and i found this significantly more precise on the FWD cars

    I was really debating on the 020s and 030 evo. Main deciding factor for me was the s13 body. I’m glad you clarified that the 030 doesn’t fit 90mm bodies.

      Really appreciate the comment! I spent over 4 hours editing this video, when I normally spend about 20 min, but I think it was worth it & the video turned out well.
      But I forgot to mention the dang 5 gear servo! That’s one of the biggest selling points & strongest assets for this car. Keep kicking myself for forgetting to mention that :(

      @BeaversHobby Před 4 lety +3

      @@BMR3 It's indeed another selling point of Mini-Z. The servo is rapid and super precise no matter car you choose. If you want as fast and precise servo for other cars you're probably looking at $40 servo.

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby Před 4 lety

      @@lazyman1011 Basically you should have 2 sets of wheels with appropriate offset of the body then one set to install drift tyres of your choice (Mini-Z original or DS Racing according to your floor) and the other set for grip tyres of your choice, again, depends on the track surface. And then some springs for setup MA-030 uses MA-020 front springs and MA-010 springs at the back if you use standard rear pod.
      For drifting: soft front, med-hard rear. For touring: hard front, soft rear.
      The tool you need for Mini-Z are Philips screwdriver (available in general store) and wheel hex nut which is included with the car.

  • @Auranapse
    @Auranapse Před 4 lety +2

    Great video! I think your videos overall are quite enjoyable, no issues with the format.
    My MA-030EVO only just started to ship yesterday as the shop had to backorder my NB4 receiver for the car. Can't wait! (NB4 already arrived LOL)
    Btw I think the lower position of the batteries across the bottom may actually lower the COG overall(compared to 020), assuming the batteries are heavier than the motor.
    But compared to a MR03 the COG is probably higher.
    Also, are the swing arms plastic like in the MA-020?

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety +1

      Auranapse Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated!
      I agree that the center of gravity is lower then the 020, not to mention much more balanced! This car performs great, just needs a touch of mods (locked rear diff.) and you will be amazed. In my option it’s a huge step up from the 020 & the evo motor is crazy on power! ButI think I will downgrade to the new 4100kv green motor.
      I’m sure the swing arms are plastic, I would be shocked if they weren’t. I can check when I pull the car apart to install the solid axle & do the 94mm conversion.

    • @Auranapse
      @Auranapse Před 4 lety +1

      @@BMR3 Cool, I've ordered 2 ball diffs instead and will probably mess around with them to get a setup I want that can do both grip and drift.
      As for the motor I would probably adjust the throttle curves to make it easier to control. I also went to get a 12000kv despite knowing it being way too fast and uncontrollable. Got it as I'm curious on what this thing can do. Would setup a throttle limiter that toggles when I push the flappy paddles on my NB4 xD. If that works then I'll keep it in.
      I'll probably get some metal swing arms then. Is the pinion gears the same as on the 020? I may just take parts off my 020 to put on the 030

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety +1

      Auranapse Bahahaha you Sir are a Mad Man! 12000kv?! That’s like putting a blown V8 into the car lol
      Only draw back to that much motor is reduced efficiency, I’m sure the car would be fun, but you would have reduced battery life. That’s why I want to down grade my motor, in this video I’m literally using the tiniest amount of throttle possible & it’s still almost to much. A 4100kv motor will run cooler & have longer battery life, that’s the only reason I’m considering switching.
      Using the paddles to switch the amount of power actually sounds really cool & fun tho! Like shifting gears for a micro car!
      Yeah I think metal swing arms are a good idea, especially if you already have the front end cracked open.
      No the pinion & spur gear are exclusive to the Ma-030 so you will not be able to swap those with your 020. Funny you ask, I already have plans to make a MA-030 compatibility video. I have the parts all marked out for what’s what, I just need to sit down and film it.
      What do you think, should I focus on the 030 compatibility video this weekend, or install all my ceramic bearings in the 020? I won’t have time for both videos, & the ceramic bearings require a full teardown & reassembly so that might helps some people out. Plus I feel like the 020 is getting neglected since I received the 030 lol!

    • @Auranapse
      @Auranapse Před 4 lety +1

      @@BMR3 It's because I had the paddles that gave me the idea of having the 12000kv. Hopefully I can get it under control hahaha. Battery life isn't really a huge concern as these things last pretty long already, have a couple of rechargeable AAAs, and I rarely play past 1 or 2 full sets of AAAs.
      I think you can do the ceramic bearings on the 020 first haha. I guess while the 020 is apart you could tear the 030 apart and see if they used any common parts. I'd imagine the DWS for the 030 can be put onto the 020 too.
      Actually while we were having this convo, I was just watching beaver's teardown and the pinion looks like it may be something I could reuse(will probably try once I get mine), though the spur is completely different.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety +1

      Auranapse I know what you mean, the batteries last pretty long and I rarely play past 2 packs as well.
      According to the manual, it says the pinion & spur are exclusive to the ma030 & FWD, but hey Kyosho could be wrong (or just misleading so people buy more parts).
      Haha I don’t think I will tear down both cars at the same time, that would be too many tiny bits to manage & it would take forever.
      I do know that the entire rear end (the parts that disconnect from the chassis) are universally comparable for any AWD car, be it 010, 030, or 030 & this goes for the DWS as well.

    Hello, BMR
    Question: Does matching the body's offset matter a ton? ...asking b/c i never considered matching it and i just bought random narrow and wide rims lol

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes offset is very important, if you have to small of an off set or too narrow the rims won’t look right. Conversely if the offset is too large then the rims can stick out of the body & end up rubbing, which will cause all kinds of steering issues.
      It’s best to match the offset as close as possible, but you can always adjust it to what you think looks best (performance be damned)

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety

      Daniel Jimenez the solid rear axle & front one way will have the biggest impact on steering characteristics. I feel like the setup has negligible effect when drifting once you have upgraded the differentials. It’s not like we are racing & turning lap times, so the setup is not as important. As long as the car feels predictable, then you are good.
      If you really want to adjust the camber, then I would look at your tier ware. You want the tier ware to radiate directly from the middle of the tier, so you ensure the tiers are remaking flat in the corner. If the tier ware is more on one edge, then I would check into swapping the camber set up.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 2 lety +2

      No, this is an AWD chassis & will not have nearly enough steering angle to be converted to a RWD drifter. The MA-030Evo is the king of AWD micro drifting, not RWD.

      @BMR3  Před 2 lety +1

      Apples to Oranges... you cant compare AWD to RWD, its not a fair comparison by any means. RWD has much much greater steering angle which allows for more technical drifting & at much slower speeds.

RC cars & drones are very soecific to each driver, as we all are unique & have different tastes. nothing is bad, just different & should always execpt & appreciate each other, hey I always learned something new & different from someone else which later helped me to change my style & evolve. not copying everyone but from their ideas to build new ones to share, at no cost, coz my love DOESN'T cost a thing ; )
      about FPV flying, yes I'd have to admit, FPV drone flying isn't for everyone due to the perspective. for some can cause a lot of dizzyness & change the hobby. my father was a fighter pilot, so flying is somewhere in my blood & love the hobby. mini z drifting, the cars are so cute, just like I like cute women instead of beautiful ones. & drifting had always been a interest for me from gaming, I'm also a gamer ; ) Stay safe & take care, keep postibg those interesting, educational vids.

      @@BMR3 Thank you very much for responding! The video was from a few days ago and now the track already dominate it and more with the body Impreza WRC 2008, I will upload a video my MA020 I still have it in stock but the body helps a lot in handling! And of the chassis models you recommend I don't know where to get them. Aliexpress? I'm from Mex and it's easier to get the mini z from amazon jp! Best regards and thanks a lot!

    Are Mini Z cars performance worth the price compared to like a k989 ? I wanna start drifting 😎🏁?

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 2 lety +1

      that's an impossible questions since its so subjective & individual for each person. But if you have seen my channel then you know I will say Mini-z all day 😎

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 2 lety +1

      K989 can be modified for RWD tho so its a very hard decision & depends on your skill level with models & extensive modifications.

      No, all the AWD chassis come with a gear Diff in the front & rear but I made a video on how to DIY lock the stock gear Diff. Here’s a link to the video: czcams.com/video/-4VGCOyR7vU/video.html

      To each their own. I prefer AAA batteries over lipo, but lipo does provide extra power. Luckily with theses things little micro cars AAA provide more then enough power, plus they run longer then a lipo of the same size.
