- After the success of the smaller version that I tried out on a 6-inch square tile, I was ready to tackle my largest painting yet. I was so nervous. As usual, not having enough paint was one of my biggest worries so if course I had too much in the end, but better more than not enough.

Debbie this turned out so, so pretty! I love this one!
Stunning. I really luv watching you create. Thanks for sharing.
I saw the fish too along with a beautiful butterfly , couple of agates and finally a Snowflake. It's beautiful!!!
Goodness I didn't know there was so much in it!
Deby, The tile is beautiful, but mostly, I impressed by your "blowing power". 👏🏻
Thank goodness I never took up smoking or I might not have completed it!
I love this Deby. The colors are great and I absolutely love the blowing technique
Thanks so much :-)
Sort of like a Peacock blew up..lol. Adore the colors and the spray look. Pleasant...calming for a bedroom or bath I think.
Just beautiful, Deby. Very organic, sort of a sea flower looking thingy.
Thank you, still one of my favorites.
Thanks so much for showing me this technique. Loved your outcome and the cells and texture great. Take no notice of rude people Deby - best to completely ignore them just like we do playground bullies. They love the attention. Cheers, DEBBIE T
It honestly makes me laugh! I'm British so I just get my sarcastic head on.
Thanks Debbie I think this piece delightful. Like the colors fascinating the way you used the straw .
I gave this one away to a charity auction and I was told it got a good price. Lots of people liked it.
Very nice... The white areas have some very nice expressions which almost look like an epoxy pour.
Thank you :-)
It is spectacular Deby!! I love it!!
Thanks so much :-) I very much appreciate you watching and commenting.
What a beautiful piece - you always have great ideas!!
I take my inspiration from some of the fab artists here on YT. So much inspiration and awesome art every day.
Listening to you describe some of the details and the excitement in your voice reminds me of a line from the movie "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" when Slartibartfast said he enjoyed creating the "fiddly bits" around the fiords in Norway. I imagine God must must've had the same feeling of exhilaration during the Creation as you do when you create your masterpieces. You are truly a goddess of the pour!
I was a real fan of "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy". I have a vague memory of the TV series, but I definitely read the first book. Thanks for the memory. Deby
This just might be one of my favorites. The results are gorgeous. Thanks so much for the tutorial; it motivates me to try the blowing technique, although I'll start smaller to avoid a headache. Hope you are feeling better.
It was a lot of fun, give it a try! Are you in the Facebook group yet? Join us and share how you get on facebook.com/groups/acrylicpouring
some of my favorite colors, well done!
Thanks Karen, mine too
This one is very very beautiful 💙💚💜
Thank you :-)
Beautifully done
Thank you Andrew.
Great job! I love the colors!
Thank you Karole
I think this one came out pretty neat looking. Heck, I never new tiles even came in that size! I've just been working on 6x6's... I always enjoy your enthusiasm for trying new things, even if the outcome isn't what you hoped for, you always give it a go again. :) Keep it up!
I never want to stop learning and trying new things. Keeps life fresh and exciting!
Your title threw me,,, I thought it was a mistake but this one is awesome.
really lovely and also perfect
Thanks so much :-)
Absolutely stunning!
Thanks so much :-)
It's beautiful! Thanks for all that blowing!
Phew, I must be more fit than I realised!
Beautiful and great exercise for your lungs!
Oh yeah, I was certainly feeling it.
Oooooo I LOVE this one!!!
Thanks so much :-)
Hi Debby! What a wonderful pour. All with the straw. You have got strong lungs. LOL Greetings from Germany
Hehehe, I surprised myself, but I was a bit light headed in the end.
This is very beautiful Deby! I really like your color choices. It looks lovely on the neat little stand. Great job! Kudos to you!
I'm delighted. Took me a long time to paint anything much bigger than a tile! Thanks so much :-)
Beautiful!
Thank you so much :-)
Simply stunning! I just discovered paint pouring by accident this morning, and this is one of the most amazing and interesting works I've seen yet!
Wow Briam, what a lovely comment, thank you. Do come and join us in the Facebook group - facebook.com/groups/acrylicpouring
You are most welcome! I just sent a request to join your group on FB! I might just have to add acrylic pouring to my growing list of hobbies and interests!
awesomeness!
Thank you Roz, YOU are awesome!
Beautiful Deby.
Thanks so much :-)
Beautiful ❣❣❣Being brave pays off in the end. Love your accent too😉😉😉
Thank you, I do love to have a go and see what happens. As some of my other videos will show, it doesn't always work out!
Deby at Acrylic Pouring Oh if I had a dollar for every ruined painting I did, ...! That's what art is all about. You can get the ideas and concept from other peoples experiences but at the end of the day, you have to learn from your own experience. Right?
So very true! I'd love to learn more from you, I'm a big fan. I loved the 3d cells you shared recently :-)
Deby at Acrylic Pouring Oh thank you so much, I'm chuffed 😊. I'm happy to share all I know and I'm constantly learning new "tricks"
I would love you to join our fb group " Acrylic pouring and resin art Australia support group" we can share and learn together😉💜❤🖌
Beautiful! I am going to try that now :)
Go for it Debbie. Best wishes. Deby
I did it! I did not have as great of a result as yours, I am very new at this but enjoying. I loved your technique and learned a lot. Felt lightheaded when I was done.... haha Thank you for the video Deby :)
Do you find if it's too thick of a paint layer on the board it separates and causes deep cracks?
i see the fish too. You could use a fine marker and outline the fish. Gorgeous
I can't find it!
Miss Deby I also paint on tiles. I use from home depot 8' 1 x1s wood strips @ 98 cents each. then I cut them into 5" or 6" strips glue them on the back of tile with liquid nails or wood glue depending on tile size/weight. Then I paint the whole back with a solid color which gives it a nice finish. And then can hang on the wall.. Not sure of the cost of your stands but one 8' strip will service 6 tile paintings or more. Thanks for what you share :):).
Thanks xaxbby for your comments. I would love a Home Depot here on Cayman. Best wishes. Deby
Thanks for the idea. These tiles are so heavy that I'm really nervous about that, in case over time the glue comes away and it comes crashing to the ground, breaking whatever is underneath. Glue doesn't always hold up well here because of the heat and humidity. But I think they would look lovely hung on the wall, with that space behind. Some day I may pluck up the courage.
Beautiful. Might want to try a small compressor used for airbrushing. Save yourself! Just a thought😃
I would love to get one but I'd have to import it from overseas and thats not in my budget. But if I did, I'd be using it a lot with paints I'm sure. I really like the effects.
How long did it take to dry before varnishing? It look great!!
Well I don't think it would be possible to come to the Cayman Islands for a workshop a tad too far lol but lucky you living in such a lovely place. I will have a look at your book though. Xx
Thanks Judy.
How do you varnish this?
Hi the tiles you use are they sealed? What is the finish before you pour please ? Looks good
Yes the tiles are glossy and sealed before I use them, not pourous. Like regular bathroom tiles.
very nice
Thanks so much :-)
Deby you are a great instructor and this pour is stunning! Thank you for sharing. Do you use gloss or semi gloss varnish? What type of tiles do you use? LOVE this!
I always use the gloss varnish because I love shiny things. And the same for tiles, just the budget white gloss ones from the DIY store. And thank you for the kind comment
Hi Deby,
I searched your shop site but I couldn't find any of the ceramic tiles you use. Where do you get them from especially the large one that you use in this video? Can you buy them in bulk? Does the glazing cause problems with the acrylic paint staying on the surface? I like your art work very much and would like to make some of these tiles myself. Thank you for your time, Pat
I buy my tiles in the local DIY store here, just regular economy bathroom tiles. You will most likely be able to get them from a tile supplier locally to you too. So ar I've not had any trouble with the paint coming off, but I do make sure to use 3 coats of a glossy sealer. Thanks for your kind comments Pat
awesome job Deby - it looks fantastic... I presume this is a floor tile, rather than a wall tile? It's HUGE lol... you were very brave putting it up on that flimsy looking plastic stand - I hope hubby helped... imagine if you'd dropped the tile and it smashed :-( x
It was in the wall tile section of the store so I think it was still designed for that. Might be too slick for the floor. And yes I was imagining that and the flying razor sharp shards of tile as I was moving it about!
Debt, I LOVE this painting! Beautiful colors and love the look you get when blowing with a straw. How long did this time take to dry? Thanks!
Oh this one took a long time to dry right through to the center. About a week. But I think I left it 6 weeks before cleaning and varnishing just to be very sure.
what varnish do u use? you should make a video of that step for us
I would like too, but its so hot here now that I have to varnish as the sun is coming up and its not good for making a video. I will do as soon as I it cools down a bit - most likely November! This is the one I use - acrylicpouring.com/recommended-protective-finish-paintings/
Love it. Colours are amazing. I also work a lot on tiles but have never used acrylics/silicone on tiles. Does it stick? I would have thought it would just peel off? I've used Pebeo products in the past but I'm keen to try your techniques. Thanks for sharing.
Just make sure the surface is clean and grease-free before pouring, and use a good sealer afterwards and it should be fine. So reason for the paint to peel off unless you picked at it I think. Mine have all been fine.
Hi Deby. Many thanks. Can you recommend a good varnish/gloss. I've bought the Winsor & Newton Gloss spray varnish but I'm looking for something that will give me a high gloss finish. Something a bit more like the look of resin. Do you know of anything please? I think something like that would also look great on the tiles as it will bring out the shine and also protect it. :)
I love this painting!! I also love pouring on tiles. What size stand did you use for this? Thanks for all of the great videos!
I used the large gibson stand. This one - amzn.to/2qyYczY
There are links in the video description to all the sizes too
❤💜❤
Thanks. Deby
I want to do something like this on metal, will that work. I will put down 2 layers of gesso in white then one more in a color before doing the pour. Let me say how much I love your work and I am so thankful for the demos.
Thank you Janet. I've never worked on metal so I can't say for sure. You might need to use a special primer first, specially designed for a metal surface. Good luck though, I hope you will drop into the facebook group and share your results. facebook.com/groups/acrylicpouring
I sent it to your Facebook address with an explanation.
Very cool. I got a headache just watching you blow.
I did feel a little light headed. All donations of an airbrush greatly appreciated!
I see a fish on the right-hand side, it's laying on a feather from an exotic bird. But maybe that's just me. Thank you for sharing
I love how you can stare right into the painting and see all these sort of details. Thanks for watching.
love this one Deby I noticed you have a westcountry accent do you live near St.Austell just wondered if you did workshops.
Sadly not Judy. I used to live in South Glos but I left the UK 11 years ago now. I live in the sunny Cayman Islands. But I do have a Getting Started Online ebook with videos if you want to take a step by step beginners lesson with me. acrylicpouring.com/getting-started-acrylic-pouring-beginners-guide/
Do you mix a bunch of paints and store them in those squeeze bottles?
Yes, I mix many of the paints in advance and keep them in the bottles. I mix in a jug, the paint, medium, and water. Then strain the lot into the bottle and add 10-12 drops of silicone oil. Pop the top on and the paint keeps perfectly. These are the bottles I use - amzn.to/2tycRAC
Great video! Does the silicone oil dry completely or can it smear for a few days or weeks?
Once the paint is dry, the silicone doesn't affect it, but I do wipe it off the surface before adding the glossy finish or it might casue it to separate.
Thank you! I appreciate your answer. I would have ruined my attempts and been crushed. Love all your beautiful paintings and you're an inspiration!
I looked at your works for sale. Do you sell the originals?
Yes I do. I like to think of my paintings going off to a new home. You can find what's currently for sale in my Etsy shop here - etsy.com/shop/PouredPaintings
Beautiful!!! Have you thought about using compressed air for cleaning keyboards! I have used that in the past and it worked great!! It's a lot cheaper than an air gun! Also have you ever poured resin on top? Love your work!
I've not yet tried either. I'm pouring on a bit of a budget, but they are on my to do list for hopefully one day.
I forgot to tell you that the compressed air is in a can! Any office shop should have it! Thanks for replying!!😊
This was gorgeous, but I wonder if you would change the process a bit were you to do it again? That is start with a border of white and do the edges with white paint, before the center pourings...
I've changed my pratice to do canvas edges and corners with one of the colors I'm using, or gold, before I do a pour or flip - mind you, I've only been at this a week -- but I like the improved movement and not having to worry about the edges -- and seeing the overpour over a painted edge
Absolutely, I've since changed up my process too and am often painting the edges and corners before I start. Especially with something like this where you aren't going to be tipping the paint over the sides.
Thanks for affirming that! I am new to this, but love it and am VERY grateful for your sharing and example. It was one of your pictures with a contrasting gold edge that gave me that idea, so I am most grateful.
question about your pour, did you use silicone in any of the paints? and if so how many drops?
Yes I did add silicone to all of the paints except the white for the background I think. It was a long time ago now so I don't rightly remember, but I never add a lot of oil. Just a couple of drops per color usually.
I am a beginner at this and I really love your design. I bought Spot On Treadmill belt lubricant and I am having problems giving it to make cells. I made up several cups of different colors, about 4 ozs each. I put in 3-4 drops each, did a cross stir, so not to stir it up to much, put down a black medium on the canvas. Got no cells. On my next one Did the same but used more silicone, When I stirred this time, I made 3 cross stir and still very little cells ( amount not size). Can you suggest what am I doing wrong?? Is there a chance I got some bad Spot On? Or is t just me?
I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the oil you bought. Much more likely that your paint is not the right consistency. Plus don't be too concerned about not stirring in the oil. I've always found it better to stir it into the paint well. You won't get more cells by adding more silicone. Less is more. Concentrate instead on getting the paint consistency just right and then the magic will happen.
I see a fish head on the right side (as I look at the video) which is interesting. Almost looks like a fish jumping back into water. Catch and release?
Gorgeous.. I'm going to try this with my next pour.... how it is you didn't PASS OUT with all that blowing .??.. LOL
Yes I did need my own oxygen supply after that. Best wishes. Deby
what am I doing wrong - I find that the colors get muddy ...
Could be that your paints are too thin Heather. That would explain why they are mixing together more than you would like. Try making them a bit thicker.
awesome Thanks Deby - will let you know how it works out !! :)
I don't see a link to the stands you used
Sheri Berry : I thought the same 😂. I hope we will get a fast answer, because I am looking for those stands for a long time 😉
ALAYA GADEH : There is no reason to polarize. My interest in the link because of the stands is seriously meant and friendly. Deby gives the hint that there is more information in the text. But there is unfortunately no link. Thus a legitimate question 😉
There is a link in her description that takes you to her blog post, where there is all the information you are looking for. #ShouldHaveGoneToSpecsavers
Sorry, I totally forgot to add them to the video description. There's a lot to remember to bring all this together, but they were in the blog article. I've added them now.
Deby at Acrylic Pouring Thank you very much 😙 I love your art 😍
Here I go posting before the video is done again. lol I have a suggestion for you, as I have done the blowing through the straw also, get a funnel and hook it to your hair dryer to do the blowing for you. Saves you the light headedness and oxygen deprevasion. lol
I did have the hairdryer on hand just in case of lung-failure but I don't have a cool option on it so I'm worried about heating the paint. I'll have to give it a try one day.
Deby at Acrylic Pouring that's where a funnel comes in handy. you hook it to the hair dryer or hold it in place. and because the tip of the funnel is narrow, like a staw, you have more control. You did awesome. I would have passed out. lol
And I don't know how many times I've stuck my chest into the paint. grrrrrr. lol
That was always a danger here, luckily I have a small chest!
Deby at Acrylic Pouring lol. trust me so do I and I still manage. It's not so bad when it's paint but, when it's resin it soaks through and ruins everything cloth. 😯
Does the top match the painting on purpose?
Kim beadyeyedbrat Kennedy Hi, I am german, but my english is quite well. I would really like to know what this question means?
Your blouse matches your painting. Did it just happen that way or did you mean to do it?
Hahaha, I have been known to match my nailvarnish to videos in the past, but now that I paint,I don't have time for such girly things!
It means her blouse looks just like the painting. I wondered if she meant to do that.
I SEE A CHEESE BURGER
Hahaha, were you hungry when watching this?
To me this just looks like a huge muddy mess . I don't see any benefit from using blowing or swiping techniques over simply doing a dirty pour . They just seem to make the whole process longer giving the illusion of more control over the final outcome .
Thanks for the feedback. It certainly felt like I had more control than just pouring the paint on. But as someone told me the other day, their dog did better paintings than me, so perhaps they are right!
Can you give us a link to your paintings? I would love to take inspiration from your own work to improve my own.
Chris, please post your work. This has more structure than a traditional dirty pour. This has an expressed purpose of design. If you have a way to achieve this look by controlling a dirty pour, I would love to learn!
I love the painting!! Don't listen to negative Nilly's!
Deby at Acrylic Pouring--you are very gracious in your reply to Chris Guyer's comments. That shows that you not only are a great artist and wonderful teacher, but you are also a very classy lady. You earned top marks on handling this guy. And your pours are fabulous. Thank you for sharing your constructive and informative videos.
