- Here’s my neutral ‘woodland painting’ finished with Gold Leaf.
Even though my artwork is usually bright and colourful, I’ve wanted to create a more neutral and calm piece for a while.
This acrylic painting is full of warm taupes, champagne, cream and golds, finished with an added touch of gold leaf to really give it a decadent, luxurious feel.

To give you a little background, I started painting originally for stress relief and therapy when I suddenly started having seizures 3 months before I was due to graduate from a Physiotherapy degree! My whole life turned upside down as you can imagine. But I believe ‘Everything happens for a reason’ and I couldn’t imagine my life without my art now.
In 2018 I was discovered by a Publisher, Artko Ltd, who supply framed prints of my work to shops throughout the UK. My bestselling pieces are my ‘Love Trees’.

Your work is magnificent and very inspiring. What type of sponge did you use to apply your varnish? I always have difficulty applying it, I make huge canvases and the brushes sometimes make bubbles or lines. and I never thought of putting the gold leaf on top of the varnish. when I apply it, I don't varnish because it dulls their shine but with your technique, I have the best of both worlds.
